S5:Episode17-Vevor 8 KW Diesel Heater Installation In The Bruisemobile.
I'm using the Bruisemobile, my 2001 Ford E350 ambulance, a lot more lately as I collect a few cars for the 2025 Season 6 of the Camp Chaos Chronicles, move cars to the crusher, and perform other operations only a trailer will do. Much of this will be doe during the winter and since I have an aversion to spending $150 a night to sleep bdly in a hotel, I need to get some heat in the back so I can sleep a few hours when I get tired enroute. The 8 KW deisel heater available from a number of sources online will hopefully do the job.

I know I've been out of touch the past month or so but it's not like I haven't been busy. Pushing projects forward has been the order of the day but I've also been on the road mainly for the business but also took a few days off to see my daughter and son-in-law out in Montana and to unwind a bit from the past few years. But I'm back to business as usual and will be publishing videos until the ...

Occasionally, one of my viewers sends a box of miscellaneous Jaguar related items they no longer need. To this point I have thanked them for their generosity privately but have decided from now on I will acknowledge them on the channel during a "Mail Call" episode. This is episode one.
S5:Episode 15- Flow Testing The TWR 6.1 Liter Jaguar V-12 Cylinder Head.
Просмотров 8212 месяца назад
In this episode, I visit Jason Anderson of Janderson Heads in Lakeville, Minnesota. Since the engine came in the shop, I've wanted to do this to determine how much better the TWR 6.1 Liter Jaguar V-12 cylinder head flowed than the stock head. This will be a two part series of videos in which we compare not only the two Pre-HE heads, but also look at data from the tests run on the intake ports o...
S5:Episode14- TWR Jaguar 6.1 Liter vs 5.3 Liter Jaguar E Type Pistons

Let's take a look at the pistons for the TWR Jaguar 6.1 Liter V-12 and Jaguar E Type 5.3 Liter V-12 engines before they disappear into their respective blocks not be seen again in my lifetime. There are some surprising similarities but for the most part the differnces are striking.
S5:Episode 13-Jaguar E Type 5.3 Liter Cylinder Liner Issues.

It used to be you ordered up new pistons and liners and you could almost finish hone them and install them. From my recent experience, not any more. Inspect them as soon as they come in the door. I bought two sets from two different manufacturers with two completely different results.

Просмотров 9902 месяца назад
Both the Jaguar TWR 6.1 Liter and Jaguar E Type V-12s need to have the jack shaft bushings replaced. All it's going to take is a $310 set of bushings for each engine and an as yet to be developed tool set to do it with. Easy peasy.

I've got most of the parts together and machine work done and it's time to get this job underway. I'm not going to go into a great deal of detail regarding basic crankshaft installation, I've already done that in season one. There's still plenty to talk about.

When my laptop went down last fall and I lost some episodes do to my faulty understanding of cloud storage, I knew I needed to take some time and do something different that would improve the shop operation. S5:Episode 9-A Tale Of Two Kitties Part 5-1989 Jaguar XJS "Big Red". Project Or Parts?
Просмотров 5553 месяца назад
In this episode, I will make a final attempt to get "Big Red", my recently acquired 1989 Jaguar XJS Rouge Edition, running and driving. The outcome will determine whether I have another project for 2025 or a rich source or Jaguar XJS parts. I need another project like I need another head (maybe that would be a good thing) but it's a pretty solid car that could be saved. But not by me, perhaps. ...

In this, Part 4 of A Tale of Two Kitties, we turn our attention to the 1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible in an attempt to get it running on all 12 cylinders. Actually, getting it to start on just six would help just to be able to move it around without towing it with my JD 316 lawn and garden tractor. But I would really like to be able to daily drive it this summer as I have in the past. A lovely old...

We need to determine the status of Big Red, a 1989 Jaguar XJS Rouge Edition I acquired a few months back. The symptoms are common to the Marelli Curse. When you turn the key it turns over, hits occasionally, but won't run. In fact it's the exact same behavior my "90 Convertible exhibits. So maybe we can kill two birds with one stone here.

It really is great that Enthusiasts are keeping these wonderful cars alive as they left the factory (Or better then factory in some respects) in all their glory. That harness looks top notch. And with all the rascals that happen to love chewing on wires, it's a welcomed addition to our rebuilds & maintenance of these fine cars.
Cat Call
Looking forward to the video(s) on electroplating, Bob!
You can get an air pump delete idler pulley from Simply Performance in the UK. I used to go the extra mile when I did these. I tapped the intake manifold and red loctited grub screws in the holes, then used normal intake manifold washers on the nuts. It was a good excuse to replace the intake gaskets! 😁
Would putting some anti size on the studs or heat shrink tubing on help prevent head to corrosion to studs???
You do know you can prime it with the control settings, you’ll have to do it often when you run out of diesel.
@@HowlingWo1f Yes, but it wouldn’t prime.
Good work Bob. Six years ago my wife and I lived aboard a 46 ft sport fisher on Chesapeake Bay and used a similar unit to keep the boat toasty in the winter. Loved it. I should put one in the trunk of the Jag to preheat the interior before leaving for work in the morning and returning home in the evening. LoL.
Great to have this diversity of topics… ‘cause you never know what life may throw at you.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I love that the heater is installed in an outside metal cabinet. Worst case the outside of your ambulance catches on fire which is much better than the inside.
Good morning Bob,, nice work. Very interesting piece, may install one in the garage.. do you smell any diesel fumes from the burn?
I put one of these in my double garage last year and I can say they are excellent heaters, it takes just a few minutes to heat the whole garage and I then run it on the lowest setting and it burns next to no diesel.
That's a decent install. I may have to investigate for my VW T2 👍🏼
❤ That Intake.
Very good video. My father's 89 XJ-S HE has been in storage for 12 years. It starts every year, no problem. It does sometimes idle roughly but soon settles down. It was previously well maintained.
What are your thoughts on a rear main seal leak on a V12? Is it always due to a clogged PCV breather filter? I replaced the filter and changed the breather setup for a slightly higher vacuum to the crankcase. The car still leaks tiny amounts of oil from the RMS. Should I replace the hockey seals, I would prefer not removing the crankshaft to change the rope seals. (The car has 40,000 miles on it and runs well)
@@thermalpaste Tiny amounts of oil are perhaps the norm. A lot of guys would kill for that. When you change oil I just wipe the area down. Lack of crank case ventilation will certainly cause a rear main seal leak
G'day Bob, do you have a multi v alternator pulley, and a Marelli style harmonic damper available? I am converting my XJ-S to the Ole Mobek EFI/ECU system and need both to allow a crank position sensor to be fitted. Much appreciated, Chris
@@ChrisEggleton-s7f I do, but they are sold on an exchange basis only. It’s hard to get cars for these.
@@thecampchaoschronicles9567 They certainly are difficult to obtain. As I don't have a multi v unit to exchange, I have obtained a damper from Taiwan through Amazon but the alternator pulley remains elusive. Just as an aside I was trying to use your website to buy parts, and it appears the engine section isn't working? Keen to see what parts you have on offer. Regards, Chris
Door lock actuators are not coordinated. They're sending conflicting signals.
The car is looking great Bob. Well done! I'll have to look up Bell Exhaust and see if they have a system for the S1 V12 XJ. Looking forward to the next video. Happy Thanksgiving.
Bob, great to hear that you are 100% cleared.. nothing worse than those visits... You have to hire more people, i know,,i know, impossible. But keep looking, high school kids in a apprenticeship program possibly?? Mine isn't a convertible, or newer model, but I had lock kick outs because one of the door switches.. also don't forget ignition switch. Is the trunk,, or door light's on, or the ignition switch buzzer acting up? Also those solenoids have an internal max travel switch.
it's a Catch 22. I need to hire someone to get the work done but I would have to invest the time to train someone who will be gone in a couple years. Better to be smart about the amount of work I take in. That will be easier next year.
So glad to hear you are feeling good and gearing up for some videos. I am hem hawing about and need to get a few things up and going (Broken cars!) which will allow me to source a XJS V-12. Still think it would make a magical sound with an exhaust system on it. On your machine problem, I bet there is someone who can sort that out. I worked with my Converter company and they were great. Just FYI, I run multiple machines on one convertor, just have to be careful not to start them simultaneously. Thank you for the work videos, love to watch them and learn (dream!) about these cars. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
The intro and outro music volume levels are much better. The last 15 seconds of you talking was the only place it got hard to hear. Glad you've been a good kind of busy. Enjoyed the tour.
The door lock solenoid or the door Lock key S/w is out of adjustment
I see an XJ-SC targa! The only car I ever bought twice. (Yes, the identical car. Still looking to find it again.)
@@annahopp this one is a European model left-hand drive gray marketed into the country. Has the shorter European bumpers
Glad to hear your health is good! What are the wings one the shop wall? Stearman?
It's an experimental aircraft called Raging Special. I hope to get back to it.
What material did you clean the injector with?
Carb and linkage cleaner.
Interesting exercise.

Wow ! A box of good stuff.
GDI support ?
Great job on the review. My son swears by this stuff. He says it's the best. It straightened out their 94' Corvette perfectly. Thanks for the video
Bob, I love the videos. I've had two XJS's. First was a rare Hess & Eisenhardt convertible. Now I've got a 1991 Convertible (factory) with the the full AJ6 Plus Torque and exhaust modifications. I solved my Marelli problem after one bank quit. Luckily I caught it before burning up. It happens due to a failure inside the distributor, and can be an ultra simple fix. I will use your video guides when I rebuild mine and add the 5 speed manual. Thanks so much for taking the rebuild videos, it's a gold mine of wisdom for these very special old cars
Great information, thank you
Hello Rob, Thanks a lot for the review of my Harness Prototype. Looking forward to seeing it running on one of your engines soon. Don`t be afraid to bend it in the reinforced area between the main connector and the first branching point. I did several torture tests with the first prototype, and it handled a lot of abuse without issues. And yes, you are correct about the connectors. Only the main connector is 3D printed out of reinforced nylon and converts the harness to a circular shape with a strain relief lip. The EV1 connectors are from Tyco (made in the USA). The yellow cap’s purpose is simply to keep dirt and dust out of the connectors until ready to be plugged in. The other "Beta Tester" reported good results and is very happy with the performance of the engine now. Sale will start in about 3 weeks with 3 sleeving options. DR-25 "race-spec inspired" as shown by you, Green Nomex high temp sleeving for an extra slim and sleek professional look and HFT5000 for a more textured appearance than DR-25. Of course, all components used on the harness including the used TEFZEL wire have a minimum continuous temp rating of 150°C. So you can look forward to decades of trouble free operation. It is designed as a "lifetime" harness. The Price is not final yet, but expect it to match SNG price for a, as mentioned by you, a much superior and fully shielded product. Andreas / AE Engineering AE-Engineering@bluewin. ch
Hello, is there any way to buy AE engineering cables, I am from Germany Bavaria and would like one of these.
Hello, the official sale has not started yet, but I already stock a couple in several sleeving options. Looking forward hearing from you. Gruß aus Zürich Andreas / AE-Engineering@bluewin. ch
The mystery hoses are probably from the 1995 XJ12 V-12 i have... Ford Era ... Wasted spark... I have more crapola too.. that was just from one engine... i have 2 more engines worth of leftovers... i can send them along someday once this project is done and i know what is not needed
I think the mystery hoses are PCV hoses for the later XJ40/X300 era I6. It looks very similar the the one on my '96 4.0 XJS but my son is out of town with my '95 X300 so I can't be sure.
Looks great the main plug looks solid Good idea with the big heat shrink You would think back then they Would have seal those better Since it the main connecter British Layland cutting corners.
Good point. I’m gonna be sticking the harness on a test stand engine in a Tuesday extra in the next couple of weeks and I’ll mention that point.
Nice! Christmas in October…!
I was really impressed with Andreas's concept too. One thing that needs mentioning is under that shrink wrap is TEFZEL wire!!! And if you know motorsports wire-jacketing - That is essentially Milspec / Avionics quality jacketing/wire. It won't degrade in the heat /oil like the old PVC (or whatever jacket was on the old OE wires).
How about "The Parcel Post Mystery Box Show"
Used it in my 98 F150 , working 💪 perfectly
I like the Mail Call idea. Looks like a good harness!!
A+
Just found your channel. Awesome stuff!!
Many Thanks for the valuable content. So good the videos are but improvement I would like see: missing some structure for the video collection. For example now the two (2) Marelli paths, looking for successive video, what happened to these two issues? Possibly still in editing work, however, cannot be sure. Thanks again!
I've got to do what I'm currently working on. I'm afraid sometimes it doesn't go in sequence. Or at all.
This stuff sprays so poorly that you'd have to use 12 cans just to do a roof of a land cruiser.
Are the plans available? if so, where? Thanks in advance
I'm afraid not. too much going on.
tilton should get you to do the video! liked your diagrams, helped a ton. Thanks.
lol@12 min WHAT IS THE MAX CAMSHAFT LIFT you can put in this???? a detail. hmm the BASE circle on the camshaft will support a.500 lobe?@21.30 WHAT is shrouding the valve? The 5.3 intake ports- xke/xjs are SIZED for a 7 liter engine. aka Jaguar never downsized the ports when they reduced the cubic inches from 427 to 326.@22 min. lol and wtf too- HOW are you going to make the HE head competitive when there is NO SHORT TURN in the exhaust port? So you got 60%? or 70% of int. flow out of the HE PORT???? hmmm there is NO SHORT TURN. Why because the ex vale is sunk .300? lol IF YOU TRY TO MAKE MORE THEN 375 hp with the HE head you will break the engine. Why because the HE head has 2 FLAME FRONTS. As you make more power the combustion becomes TO0 VIOLENT- you will see for yourself. A far better deal is to put a dish- maybe zero to .060 in the xke head and a matching dish in a modern lightweight piston. but I am sure you call me a moron- lol goo luck- you will need it.
I've never called anyone a moron that didn't need it.😉
