- well finally got the go kart wheel/tire dilemma figured out, had to make multiple trips to harbor freight but at least I finally got some wheels/tires done. lets see how long these things last
Had the same wheel and tire combo on my little trailer for kids to ride on. Wheel broke just like yours left me stranded in the woods. Good luck. Lawn mower wheels and tires work great up front.

Yea i saw your video of your go kart, go karts are fun when the neighbors don't complain.
Been there and still having tire problems too,,, we have to be rich to keep high end tires on our karts,, We run these Harbor tires,, they do ok if you dont hit cement they will bald in 15 min on concrete,,

I had that same go kart years ago, and with the same problem only it was the rear tire. You will never find a tire/wheel that fits and does what you want. You need to be able to keep at least 20-30 psi in the tire to survive drifting reliably. Those hold like 5 psi. The solution to this problem are tubes. Tire tubes. Shop around cuz some are thicker than others. You want the thickest you can find. Install it and fill it with as much air as it will safely hold.

no problem with the questions, We have been trying to sell our home for about 4 months now, need a bigger place my kids are growing to fast. If we don't sell it we will add on another room.the economy is not soo good so never know what might happen. just bought a new above ground pool today for my kids birthday present

Get a machinest to make you some new front spindles. Looks like you might even have some better clearance with your steering rod, looking at that wider tire that was mounted.

Harbor Freight tires are fair, but the wheels are trash. I've had them break at the hub on EVERY SINGLE project I've used them on.
They are made for static loads and little dynamic stress. Think hand trucks and wheel barrows.
High dynamic loads like cornering on a go kart will destroy them quickly.
yea harbor freight stuff is cheap and you get what you pay for.
Funny though, they sell these all over the place. A lot of us project people see them and think "Ooh!, cheap and perfect for my xyz," but they aren't general purpose. They are made for light load applications.
I don't mean to trash harbor freight. They sell a lot of good stuff too. Most other retails sell crappy tools and parts too.

Iseekoutthetruth what I do is buy the harbor freight stuff just for the tires and tubes. The rims are all trash I've gone through so many. A good place to get rims and tires is northern tool. The rims have a thicker metal and better welds definitely last longer.
justice lee never heard of northern tool, are they in Arizona?
if you haven't already solved that problem you could actually use the thicker white tyres by tapping the bearings out grinding the wheel shaft down and replacing the bearings this would still give you enough strength in the wheel

I just ran in to this problem and I was thinking the same thing except I wasn't sure if I should or not. There's also a bushing sleeve behind the tire I was thinking about getting a cutting wheel and trimming it down. Then I could put any size sleeve in depending on the wheel shaft

I've watched brand new HF tires peel off the wheel in 5 minutes. If you don't get them for a Go Cart, you will lose your investment

Go to Go Power Sports.com and look for the 5/8 bearing wheel. Hasn't let me down for anything.
