I would highly suggest new sewers to go to a thrift shop and touch all of the fabrics. I tend to buy a lot of linen fabrics for my kids clothes from thrift store clothing. They often already have a nice hem for skirts/dresses and matching buttons. Always helpful. It helps you to get familiar with sewing clothing with different fabrics and to know how the fabric feels after it has been washed.

I would recommend pre-shrinking all your fabric too by drying it on medium heat in the dryer.

I’ve been sewing for years & it’s good to see that using a lot of the tools & tricks. With sewing it’s the little things that make your clothes turn from looking “homemade” to “boutique”👍🏽🙋🏽‍♀️

@@trinitywilliams7297 It definitely depends on fabric sourcing! It can be cheaper, especially when you invest and make a pattern multiple times and in multiple ways!

Can you do a French seam on stretch fabrics?

      Hi Joanna,
It depends on the bulk of the stretch fabric. But the good news is, usually you don't need to use a french seam on stretch because stretch fabric doesn't fray like woven fabrics!
