We need to stop equating those who live in poverty with those who live in what looks like a flophouse. It’s insulting to poverty stricken individuals, and a harmful generalization. Many many many low income individuals take just as much pride in their living spaces as the next person, and plenty of wealthy people treat their homes like garbage cans. So if you’re trying to come for me, claiming I’m looking down on low income people, you can miss me with that. I would think the people saying the house looked that way because they were low income are actually the ones who are looking down on those who live below the poverty line. It takes zero dollars to pick up the sheet curtain that fell to the floor and fasten it back to the window. Y’all always looking for something to catch me up on 🤣 Its funny to me, but sad, too... that’s not what this video is about, so the fact that so many have focused on that is disappointing. Have a great day everyone,.
What I got from the picture was that scetchy paint bucket in the middle of the room ? Had they just moved in or remodeling? Who leaves paint in the middle of a child's room next to toys ?
My tears were delayed, for a couple reason, but hearing his confusion was heart breaking. I recalled moments in my own life where I lost a loved one also, having to go home and tell my grandpa that grandma was gone….his voice was the same, confused and pleading.
Absolutely 100%! Trying to put this on the caregiver Monica and divvying up the guilt is cruel and pointless. One monster alone is responsible and his image is clearly visible for all to see!
Exactly! The family and caregiver situation wasn't perfect but the focus should be on the murder, the kidnapper, the scummy garbage that decided to break into a house and steal a baby. It doesn't matter if the killer knew the caregiver, it doesn't matter if the killer didn't like the caregiver, it doesn't matter is the murdering scum was the ex of the caregiver or knew her is school etc.... What matters is the murderer is a murderer. He is responsible for his actions, he is a horrible, disgusting person. Attack him, find out about his life, find out about his side. Find out why no one arrested him... Target the killer ffa
I think Monica just gives weird vibes from years of drug use, not because she has anything to do with Cash’s death. This guy was terrorizing the neighborhood and the police/his parents did nothing. If anyone else should be held accountable- it should be them.
I was thinking the same thing smh….she knew what it was and why she didnt want him there. Unfortunately he made a sick promise and kept to it. I pray that his soul is/can rest peacefully
Sadly, cash is not the only victim here. His brother carter will be traumatized from this...bless him. I pray carter will please have a loving home and lots of love.
His biological parents abandoned him. Point blank. End of discussion. That woman cared for both boys like they were her own. She did nothing wrong in my opinion. The real monster here is the man CAUGHT ON FOOTAGE TAKING THAT BABY. Leave everything else alone. Justice for Cash. And I hope that young man who took his life gets life in prison.
So even if Monica had something to do with it we should just ignore that part? Not saying she did but your comment is so naive that it hurts. If we did things your way Chris watts would've just been believed and still be free.
So, this childʻs father left him and his brother with a SINGLE MOTHER because taking care of twins is so DIFFICULT? The logic behind that, the utter male privilege, is jaw dropping.
Hello. I have an estranged husband. He has really severe mental health issues. He struggles with everyday life and often disappears for a while. I'm fairly sure this dad felt like he wasn't good enough for his boys and they'd be better off with the other people. People on drugs can't parent. He needed to hand them over and clean up. Sometimes being a good parent is accepting you're not a good parent at the moment. If only America had proper support and healthcare systems.
Monica seems to genuinely care for those boys. She’s an addict. So yeah she’s a little weird, but 3 months of taking care of two children she was not obligated to care for and she knows all about their personalities and talks about them like a mom. I don’t believe she did anything to that little boy. Whole thing is heartbreaking. Bio mom and dad need to show her some respect for doing what they wouldn’t. She absolutely deserves to be at his funeral.
I'm with you there. She looks shocked, hollowed out, distraught. The boys looked happy and healthy. It's an awful story. The cops knew about that creep. This poor baby. I'm glad they had a mother to love them when the bio parents couldn't care for them. I get why she didn't involve cps too. Cps are not some magical team who look after kids. They would have been housed in foster care until she was approved. She did what she could. It's a shame he wasn't taken out when he broke into that house earlier.
I’m not understanding the anti- Monica vibe in this video. Regardless of her record, SHE’S the one able to provide pictures of those babies; provide details of their daily routine, educate them, feed them, love them. If the bio parents had their sh*t together, Monica wouldn’t be a factor in their lives!
Absolutely. She did more for those boys than anyone and she's obviously shattered over what happened. Many genuinely good people have a drug history. It's just so sad.
This 100%, she seems the only one who did give a crap about the kids when others had abandoned them and all her behaviours make sense if the guy had a reputation. Disappointed in the way the video seems to be pushing the blame onto her, very disappointed.
You can still provide for kids and be a shady person. I think Stephanie is just being objective by showing that every adult could be a suspect for various reasons...past and present.
As a twin I can promise you, only twins can understand how horrible this would be. He probably woke up crying his brothers name because he could already feel what happened. You will never be the same, it's not like losing a brother, it's like losing half of you... As my twin brother and I always say, from the womb to the tomb.
I’m a fraternal twin and even my twin and I have a special bond that is difficult to destroy. We’re both extremely alike, and when we work together, we do so phenomenally better than working with others. He’s always been my tyrant twin, but I never let him have it easy either lol. Nothing worse to imagine than losing my twin, versus losing my other siblings. I’d be doubly broken. Even had some close calls to losing my idiot twin, and I berated him so hard. He knows I’m first. He can handle losing me first. Yk?
@partysuvius exactly! Couldn't agree more. Like i said, only twins could understand how horrible this would be. What's funny is my twin and I work together as well. We have just always done better as a team.
I'm an identical twin & the younger of the two... I'm autistic and suffered from selective mutism as a child, she spoke for me when I needed her. When I started having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy at 7 years old she protected and took care of me... I'm now 24 and I don't think I would've made it without her. I cried seeing the footage... I can't even imagine the pain.
Um yeah , no you dont, you buy cameras for that very reason , it should be the first thing on your mind, immediately as in as quick as you thought of callin 911 you shoulda thought to review them
@@JustinMentionedIt yes, yes you can, and many people do. I was robbed 2 years ago. I was scared to death. It was only after the officer noticed the camera above my back door that I even remembered it. Luckily, the guy was caught and I was safe, as were my animals. You cannot know how someone will respond in a moment of panic, or what they’ll remember of forget. It happens all the time.
@@JustinMentionedIt no not really especially since was an addict before. The way her brain is wired now is different from how we think. And when you’re in shock and there’s so much adrenaline, you lose all sense of thinking rationally and you forget things
@High Seas7 I hate to bring that up but In correlation to how other herion addicts look she has those features, dark eyes, pale, and that sunk in look , hopefully this isn’t the case tho
To be honest, if I'm frantically looking for a child, I wouldn't think of the cameras either. I would have too much adrenaline and fear pumping to think properly.
Yeah, you probably wouldn't expect to see much on them but the boys walking somewhere. You probably wouldn't expect to see anyone IN the room like that. It might not be the first thing to come to mind because they thought he walked outside.
Well, I don't think I would have thought that someone ACTUALLY came into the house either were I the mom. For the longest time it sounds like she believed poor Cash just walked outside and from there something went wrong. We'll see. Lot of adults let these kids down though. :/
More than likely I would not have even checked the camera even if I remembered it because I would assume all I would see is the little boy walking out of the room
Exactly! I would probably not even think about that, I'd be to upset and freaking out. I'm so happy someone else said this! It wouldn't cross my mind because I would just assume maybe he snuck out and got lost or wandered off. Honestly someone sneaking into my house and stealing my child out of his bed would be the last thing I would think of
Monica stepped up when the bio parents stepped out. I know she’s had past drug problems but I see her as a woman with a big heart. Thank you Stephanie, don’t listen to these haters, WE LOVE YOU!
So you come home and an 18 y/o is in YOUR house uninvited and is "spending time" with your 4 y/o and you can't understand why she would go 0-100? Come on now. Be for real.
I don’t particularly like the way she’s talking about the family in this. No they weren’t perfect but the only person that’s responsible for this is Darren. I’d lose my shit if someone was in my 4 year olds room. Any logical mother would. I don’t know why she’s acting like she wouldn’t.
I witnessed a woman being thrown half naked from a moving vehicle after having been assaulted by two men. This happened at least 18 years ago. I still have nightmares. This will haunt her forever.
Something about Antoine staying with his body, even though she knew he was dead, really got me. She was his guardian angel when everyone else failed him.
@@highheellove1 Thousands of people are heartbroken over this judging by the comments I read. Cash was loved but it is heartbreaking that he will never know.
What decent person wouldn’t stay with him??? Anyone with a conscience would have stayed. Not really a guardian angel type situation. She just happened to be there is all.
I dont mean to sound like a wanker, but, well, what else is she going to do? Just piss off down the street and leave him there? Kick him gently into the verge and call all and sundry to come take photos? Duno where you live but where I live any of us would stay by the body of a dead kid and wait for authorities to arrive! It should be a natural response as a human.
I love how the mother comes out saying Monica was using Cash’s death for money yet it seems that this mother barley even cared about her children. Monica, in my opinion, was the only person who loved these boys and seemed to be the only real parental figure there. Most if not all these photos are of cash at the age he passed. So it makes sense that Monica was the one taking them. Ugh.
Exactly. Real mom is NO WHERE TO BE FOUND has zero right to say shit. She abandoned not ONE but TWO babies. Monica is the scapegoat in this story. Rip sweet Cash 🙏🤍
That's definitely the house of an overworked addict mom, coming from someone who was raised by one of those. I have a hard time believing Monica was in on this... I think she just comes across as sketchy because she's an addict and she's probably traumatized by the event.
Maybe but like I know every situation is different but When a person comes off as suspicious I always think they get someone to murder a child they didn’t want or something
Honestly she might be an addict, but her and her kids seem to be the only ones who gave a crap about those boys. You can just hear it in her voice that she loved Cash and Carter.
Its so relieving seeing that there still ppl separating things here... The dynamics of the adults life style from the crime that happened... In many cases, the dynamics lead to a crime... But it does not seem to be the case here...
Because if his parents were worth anything and took care of their children, this may have not happened. I dont blame Monica for anything. I will say I was wondering why she had the kids living on the opposite side of the house, but I know that doesnt make her a monster.
@@olivedog1880 but he was an 18 year old kid who caused trouble in the neighborhood. she wasn’t like selling him drugs or something which is what we often see in cases. He literally broke in, and she had even kicked him out before because he was randomly hanging out there. All her older kids were his age so maybe that was why. But yeah I don’t think this applies here..
As a recovering meth addict, I don't think "stepmom" had anything to do with it. In her interview she just looks like she's coming down & I think most of her weird vibes people are picking up on are just her shame over her addiction & trying to hide it from the public. Obviously the living conditions weren't acceptable for 4 year old children but I feel like she genuinely cared for them.
I don't blame her for wanting to hide her struggle with addiction. People are going to zero in on it and say she is responsible in some way. We treat people who struggle with addiction so horribly.
I’m coming up on 3 yrs clean from meth and I got the same exact vibe. To me, she didn’t seem “hopped up” like other commenters claim. To me it seems like she was overwhelmed and and coming down and yes, probably ultra aware that her drug use is visible on her face and therefor makes her anxious/kinda strange bc she knows she’s being interviewed on tv for this. I remember my obsessive thoughts about how visible my drug use was and certainly I acted strange when I was strung out & coming down, even though I had never done anything bad other than do drugs.
Honestly, as a past teacher who made house visits, that house was not that dirty. The biggest issue I had was the mold around the ac unit in window. I promise you, this was a mansion compared to where I’ve seen children live in the rural south. So much more empathy needs to be at our hearts in this case. I am so dreaded the murder charges. I don’t want o hear what that baby had to suffer through. But we have to face it, and find a way from so many babies and children getting killed!!! Take focus off blaming, wait for facts, and grieve for that family. All of them.
Whenen I saw her interview I said people were going to talk about that she looks like she on drugs. Rather she is, was or not I believe she had good intentions. With that being said RIP Cash🙏💙🙏💙
I'm not going to react well to any teenagers trying to befriend my toddler. I also am a big believer in trusting your gut. Girl was doing the best she could. Cameras in the bedroom let you know she was concerned.
Me too @Whitney B that pulled at my heart strings. Poor baby will never forget his brother. It breaks my heart to think of the unstable life the boys had.. 💔😢💙
So true. Since my kiddos were in pre-k & started making friends, I loved them as my own. 15+yrs later...& they’re ALL still my children. All are, it’s instinct. This is heartbreaking!
Neighbors also called the police to report his strange behaviors at different times and nothing was done. This case is tragic on so many different levels.
Update: Darriyn's clothing which he was wearing when he kidnapped Cash has tested positive for Cash's blood. He's apparently not fit to stand trial so they're waiting to send him to a facility. His attorney wants to plead insanity. No motive yet.
They all want to plead insanity and be deemed unfit to stand trial but are totally fit to assault and kill people, methinks. Unless he has schizophrenia or is hallucinating and delusional 24/7, he can go to trial.
I don’t really see Monica being involved. The interview struck me because she seems shaken and unsteady. The state of the room just tells me she’s a single mom, and multiple children to care for. I use to nanny for a family who had many children, wonderful parents but the house was constantly wrecked. Blankets and sheets on windows isn’t uncommon. I think to some of us it seems odd because why not just buy curtains, but there are many things like this that don’t take priority for others. As far as her kicking Darren out, likely she had some knowledge of what we happening. Unlikely that her older children knew of the issues and probably saw a guy they could be friends with. Just because he was in their house once doesn’t make him a “friend”, “friend of the families” or even an Acquaintance. If someone asked if I knew the kid who had been in my house once I’d say no, someone else might say yes. Regardless of her looking like someone on drugs, regardless of her home looking like a trap house, she experienced something horrific. Until proof is shown that she is involved this woman should not be attacked for her appearance or living conditions.
Girl I totally respect your opinion but this house looked like a crack house. Way more than the lower income family with multiple kids kinda mess. lets be honest. And the lady looked like shes on meth which her previous arrests records confirmed.
Darriyan actually had hung out at Monica's house often, not just once. They all were friends. That house is a drug den,and still is. Unfortunately, the facts are getting pushed out by people's rumors.
I agree she looked shaken and unsteady, but I don’t believe she looks devastated. To me shaking and unsteady doesn’t quite fit the circumstances if she’s innocent
How is everyone wanting to say Monica is involved when he’d come back for carter and got scared off? Why would he have gotten scared off if he was supposed to be there?? And there’s nothing that strange about carter not being more outspoken about cash not being there. My children don’t always care that much where the other one is. And I have 5 year old twin boys so I should know. I think she’s got a drug problem but I can’t even imagine trying to blame her when the neighbor hood creep who’s had a fantasy with killing someone is the one on camera.
@@shaddowgolden1054 1. why would she do that 2. why would he leave and come back 2 HOURS later if that was the case that woman is an addict, she wouldnt be sitting here planning this meticulous plan for this dude to murder these children and make it look like she had no involvement. the way this went down doesnt back that theory in any way
Why are we picking apart the only person who took on responsibility for these twins. People change. And the bio parents didn’t seem to give a damn, blame them!
Ok. Here it goes. I have full custody of my ex fiancé’s kids. They are not my biological children. I did not go through cps because I was trying to avoid having them in the system when I knew I could take care of them and give them stability. It was fight for them or watch them end up in The foster care system. They had been living with me and their father for 5 years before we split. Their rooms were still the way they had left them when our relationship ended and they left with him. Their father had brought them back and asked if I would let them stay for a few weeks until he could get a job and place to live. After a month of caring for them alone I went to a lawyer. Had I contacted cps they would have been removed from my home placed in foster care possibly split up and run the Chance of not being able to have contact with either of their biological parents. By going through a lawyer I was able to get custody and still be able to allow their parents to be as involved as they chose to be. So I can completely understand why she didn’t call cps. They were in what appears to be a stable environment with someone who was Caring for them and they were allowed to stay together. She knew way too much about their routine and personalities to not be genuinely caring for them. I will be following this case because I want to know what else comes out. Based on my experience I don’t see anything wrong with what she did. And if the bio mother had been frantically searching for them why was there no missing persons reports filed? There are still so many questions that need to be answered.
No one knows how they would act in this situation. The “adopted” mother has been scrutinized and for what? She had cameras in the room to monitor the twins which is responsible. She took the twins because she is a compassionate person, not everyone would take on this responsibility. She temporarily forgot about the camera because the world was a whirlwind at that point for her. Also comments about the condition of the garage door and the garage being used to comment on the overall condition of the house is not fair. It is evident that the living areas of the home are very clean and in order. I am also confused as to why it would be “suspicious” that Monica would kick Darriynn out of her house? The kid was a well known neighborhood bully so of course she kicked him out!!!! And for their father to point fingers at Monica over a tragedy that was completely out of her control and has unfortunately happened to other families isn’t fair. He chose his addiction over his sons,he can point the finger at himself.
@@sarasmith2888 Really? I have only seen one small news clip from when they first arrested the person. The clip was only like 2 minutes long. Hearing the pain in Cash's brothers voice was soul crushing. My sister is 2 years younger than me and I'd die of a broken heart if something happened to her
Stephanie, you have been putting out so much content, I truly don't know how you do it on top of having a family. And not just content, QUALITY content. Just want to say how much I appreciate all your hard work!
Its honestly impressive. I watch a lot of different content on RUclips and Stephanie really puts out some of the highest quality and quantity of videos on the platform among all genres I've seen. So much respect for her grind because we all know it's intense
Awww thank you so much!! I’m so blessed to have buddies like you in the comment section, making my day better ❤️ You have no idea the impact your kind words have had today, thank you 🙏
my thoughts on why Monica didn’t report the boys being left with her is that she wanted to keep them and knew that with her prior convictions, they’d be taken from her and she’d be unable to foster. but that’s just my thought based on the info we have currently.
It’s really common for people with addictions to leave their kids in the care of others. A lot of people with addictions hold jobs, cook dinner for their kids, and raise children without harming them. In reality there is no benefit to getting DFS involved. Drug tests are usually given to the caregiver. I agree 100% Monica did this to protect the children. There is no way she is involved. She wouldn’t kill a child she could take to the police station and be done with him. It makes zero sense we are even talking about her. I don’t like the bias in the video. It feels classist to me.
Absolutely, until you’ve walked in their shoes, you can’t judge their actions as suspicious. I, personally think it makes perfect sense, especially if your experience with authorities has been negative in the past (and being a drug addict I assume she’s experienced some negative policing). I, as a person of privilege without a police record and with money in my bank account, cannot fully imagine what their lives are like. So what about an unkempt house. Monica seems to be trying her best.
When I was 20, married and pg w my first child my husband's stepbrother dumped his nb baby at grandma & grandpa's. Soon after they asked me to babysit. After weeks it turned into keeping him a night here or there, then every night. Then weekends. Soon Noone called for him at all. I had my son. We raised this baby knowing the mother already had 2 other kids farmed out. We got ahold of her and brought up adoption. By then we were treating these two bows together since birth as twins. They entered pre-school together. As punishment for asking about adoption she came and took him. She dropped him off the following weekend when she wanted to get away. Every time DCFS OR WELFARE would want to verify she had the kids she would gather up all her little ones and keep them until she was clear. Sometimes she would find someone else to dump them on. At 1stbgrade she took Robert for the last time, she kept him w her as she was marrying a respectable man. It was like a death in our house every time she would take him. But she conditioned us to not ask or she would punish us by taking him. So yes, it happens that way.
I'm going to be very honest here: I don't think Monica or any of her family had anything to do with this. She didn't give me those vibes either. She has a prior conviction eight years before any of this happened, and the house is awful ... guys, this is a poverty-stricken area. None of that makes the family bad people or Monica a bad parent.
I agree. She may even be on drugs, who knows 🤷🏼♀️ but that doesn’t mean that she had anything to do with it. I feel like Brown may have known the family just well enough to know they were an easy target.
I thought the same thing. It doesn’t look trashy like she doesn’t clean...more like she’s poor. And I doubt she was getting money from the dad to help take care of the twins so that makes it even harder. Also I put blankets over the windows in my kids rooms when they were that age to block the sun to help them sleep during nap time 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for saying that. Also...it's a hell of a lot easier to be a good parent when you don't live in poverty. Not saying poor people aren't capable of being amazing parents, but it's a much bigger struggle when there is a lack of support and resources.
Honestly, I think some people *want* her to be involved because it makes it easier to sleep at night. If it was *her* fault then it wasn't something terrifyingly random that could have happened to your baby. You know what mean?
I respectfully disagree with the theories about Monica in this video. She seems like a genuinely grieving parent. Her child was stolen out of his bed by the neighborhood creep. This is a parents worst nightmare. This creep has been caught on multiple security cameras involved in criminal activity. Not only that, multiple neighbors have had frightening encounters with him. Insinuating that Mom is involved without having any real evidence just serves to re-victimize a parent who lost her child in a horrific way.
@@RedLeo-pf9yo She took care of them when they were abandoned with her. She fed and bathed them, she loved and cared for them, she was for all intents and purposes their mother
Monica may have a drug problem, but she did a damn good job juggling a huge household full of teens, kids, and toddlers better than any of us could have. She clearly loved that baby boy and so did her kids, you can see it in cameron. Maybe life wasnt perfect, but cash had stability, comfort, warmth, and love in her care, which was more than his bio parents or the system could give him. Let's give fault to the irresponsibility of the bio parents and the actual murderer. Monica is just a distraction tactic.
I agree that I think she actually loves those kids, but to say that she did a “damn good job” when you don’t personally know her, makes no sense. In my opinion, I don’t think that the “adoptive” mom had anything to do with the murder of the toddler, and this is a pretty cut n dry case, but again it’s just my opinion..
@@nachogirl35 i said that judging by how all of her bio kids turned out. Each of them has shown to be kind, caring, compassionate, and more, which to me means she did do a damn good job of raising them. Are they doctors and lawyers? No, but they're functioning people with goals, morals, and ethics that stephanie didnt even acknowledge in this video.
@@ange3261 I’m sorry but that doesn’t always apply. My aunt was an alcoholic, who let her kids run wild since they were very young, their apartment was always dirty, but in spite of her terrible parenting, they turned out great, so all I’m saying is that you just never know, and it’s best to not assume anything 🤷🏼♀️
I don't find Monica or her acts suspicious. IMO, the guy was clearly and knowingly disturbed, and he's responsible for what happened to the poor child. Also, how in hell the father just left his boys in other people's home and run? I think none of their biological parents are trustworthy or even have the right to talk.
Sickening. What's the REAL relationship between this monster and Monica and her teen kids??Story and timeline are full of holes. Shattering hearing Carter's anguish as he's calling for Cash. As a parent to young twins, ZERO chance a pre-schooler twin would go 2.5+ hrs without notifying someone in the house that their twin is missing. Those boys shared a bed. Carter was alone, scared, couldn't find Cash, so sat in his room? Monica's lying.
I’m a twin. When Carter called out his brothers name, it was like he was in pain ... I want to know if Carter is ok ... rest in peace poor precious baby Cash.. this had me fucked up. I just want to know, NEED to know that Carter is ok. He is the most important one now as far as I’m concerned .. twins are so close, closer than your average sibling. This really tears me apart..
I'm only about 13 minutes into this and it's showing a video interview with the mother and she just looks absolutely haunted. The look on her face and in her eyes is genuinely heartbreaking, she looks so broken and empty while she's talking about how she normally spent her mornings with the twins. I don't know how this story turns out yet, but the expression on her face is just heartbreaking
I hate that he said, “he did it because they were on a routine.” Excuse me sir, dropping off your kids at a strangers house disrupts their routine more than you moving with them! 🙄 he was only thinking of himself.
The 17 year old brother choking back tears in the interview made me cry. This was such a sad senseless act. I hope Carter can find some way to live a long happy life.
I lived in this culture long ago, and to be honest, it isn't that odd that she took on Trevor's kids. I get the impression that she is a woman that made some mistakes in the past but is still a good person. Trevor was supposed to go to a rehab, and then went on the run. A couple of months caring for them wouldn't be so odd in that world.
@High Seas7 her charge 8 years ago was for meth in not heroin. And that crap leaves lasting affects on you. Could her eyes possibly be like that from crying? Just a thought. What did she do wrong? Take care of two little boys? If she hadn't had a history would you be condemning her like this?
I agree. She and her son seemed genuinely devastated about what happened. I also don't think it would be so crazy if she *did* wait a few hours to call the police. A lot of low income individuals don't trust the police, and she probably believed that they would find Cash safe and sound. The house did look pretty disgusting, but the boys looked well cared for in the photos, and it doesn't seem like there was any accusations that the children were mistreated. Even if she was still actively using drugs it doesn't necessarily mean she didn't take good care of the children, and it certainly doesn't mean she was involved in Cash's death.
It's not defending... It's separating things. She isn't perfect. It doesn't matter, what matters is someone broke into her house, took the kid and killed him... So, unless you have any evidence, what's the connection with the crime?????
Cameron and Monica seem genuinely devastated to me and I never got sketchy vibes from them. They can be imperfect people without being involved. I think this is a clear cut case, and frankly I don't see why we would think Cash's family was involved.
What do you mean what made Monica go from 0 to 100 on finding him in her house? He was known in the neighborhood as a hoodlum and terror. If I came home and found a kid with that kind of rep in my home playing with my child, I'd probably react the same way.
Exactly what I said! Like lady, stop, she knows his face because he is known in the neighborhood, but he should not be in her home without her knowledge!
She looks terrified and traumatised, regardless of if she was on drugs or not that woman is traumatised, poor kid, scary she could've lost both twins aswell!!!!! Like Carter when he's an adult will feel both lucky and horrified 😔💖
Major props to the woman who found the body. She has a hugely kind heart and did a really great thing. This case is horrifying, but her actions really touched me. I hope she's doing well. That's a horrible image to have in your mind and it definitely shook me to hear it.
@@Sammvoy Um ya, congrats for calling the police after you find a dead body, wouldn't anyone do that? She thought it was a dog at first, and happened to be on foot and could easily walk over and see what it was. We need to stop praising people for doing the logical normal thing. It takes away from people who do things that are actually heroic. The bystander effect only applies when there are multiple people who see something happening and just assume that someone else is going to do something about it. If I had my 3 year old in the car with me and I was driving by something that looked like a dead dog in the road, I wouldn't have stopped either (bystander effect: the inhibiting influence of the presence of others on a person's willingness to help someone in need. You say that you’re confused on why Monica would have that reaction to Darrien but then immediately say most of his neighbors had reported him for crimes...clearly she knew who he was and that’s why she didn’t want him in her house.
Exactly...even if the boy had been there before with her older son and one day he is there alone with the small children you would also react this way "like what that hell are you doing here" be sides this boy have being vandalizing all around the neighborhood and this news travel fast in communities like that.
She, like all the neighbors, knew he was bad news. To be honest? Cameron seems a bit socially awkward, and maybe doesn't make friends easily, so what if the guy showed up and Cameron didn't want to say no? Or know how to? My spidey senses, as well as my educator senses picked up on Cameron struggling with social cues, as I stated above. He seems to be so confused now, and also maybe internalizing this on himself. I do hope more comes to light in the near future ☹.
Would a 4 year old remember? I do not remember much as a 4 year old. Your brain changes a lot at age 7. I lost my grandmother age 6 which was a very sad experience for my family but it had no impact on me as I did not understand. I pray Carter is the same.
@@mariobasler2750 we can only hope he doesnt remember and it doesn't effect him, however i remember traumatic stuff from when i was around 3 or 4 so im not too sure he'll be free of this horrible tragedy 😔😔
I think the fact that Monica immediately wanted Darriynn out of the house is a sign of her good judgment and a testament to her character. It’s not suspicious to me since he was well known to be threatening and violent. Maybe Darryinn took Cash *because* she kicked him out? It’s definitely possible Monica had something to do with it but based on this I’m not getting any bad vibes from her. This is the first time I’ve ever not agreed with you- but I still love you and think you are genuinely the best true crime person ever!
I'm alil torn here, I agree with @hollymays; it's true the entire community had probably spread the word about about darryn so when Monica saw him in her home she reacted. I would have reacted the same exact way. As for Monica having anything to do with cashes' murder, it's possible but I think it may have been some sort of retaliation against the father. I mean darryn looks like he's high on something so illegal drug use combined with having mental disabilities is a tragedy in and of itself. At the end of the day cashes death could have been prevented if the p.d. would have taken reports against darryn more seriously.
I honestly don't think Monica had anything to do with this, she's just an addict living in poverty. Her home doesn't really seem fit to raise kids, which is why I think she might be stretching the truth on some things. But I don't think its because she "planned" the murder, I think its because she's trying to hide her home life and addiction so her kids aren't taken away. It also doesn't seem like a good area. I mean that creep was able to waltz in and steal that baby, just like that.
A friend of mine raised a boy like her own while his biological mother got benefits for him in another state and my friend never got a dime but she got a wonderful son which is priceless
The worst part is how can someone do this and then go back to get the other twin to do it all over again . God forgive me but I want this man to pay in the worst possible way .
Took everything I had to watch this my heart absolutely breaks for this baby boy ripped from his bed peacefully sleeping, slaughtered and left for dead alone on a street! 😭💔
Right. I don’t find that weird that you can kinda know what someone is without being friends with them. That’s small town/ local area gossip right there
Even if there was nothing strange going on if I came home & there was an older teen in my house without permission trying to spend time with my very young (step?) children then I would kick them out of my house & tell them not to come back too.. I don't think that's strange or an overreaction.. Especially since it was said in the video that he was known to be terrorizing the neighborhood, word about that would certainly get around because he was damaging peoples property & stuff.
Imagine if they did not have that baby cam. This stepmom maybe a drug head....and she would have been blamed.Maybe her kids as well...blamed.She tried to look after these kids. The children look fairly well looked aftered.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. I have triplet daughters, and when they were 7 months and 4 days, one of our beautiful girls passed away. Our daughters were so young that this isnt the reaction they would have had waking up to their sister no longer with us, but they do miss her, and at 9 years old, they ask about her and miss her every single day. Their names spark a pain inside of me. Johnny Cash and June Carter loved each other so much, as I know sweet Carter loves his brother Cash. It is so terrible that they're separated for life now. 😭😭😭
So the killer had been terrorizing the neighborhood for a while, and once Monica sees him and flips out to leave her house it’s suspicious?? Steph I’m not sure I’m following through with the suspicions you have against Monica :/
She was saying it was suspicious Monica and her son said they had no link with the perpetrator and that Cameron only knew him from school when apparently, she knew more about him.
Yeah just coming home to an uninvited stranger is enough for me to yell and tell him to get out. I don’t think any other knowledge of him was needed to justify that reaction.
The important fact is a little four year old child was taken from his bed and murdered.I fail to see how sheets for curtains etc is relevant. Monica may not have a squeaky clean record but she took in two small boys and took care of them. The photos of them shows two happy and healthy children. Their parents seem to have been unable to provide what they needed and one person took care of them. Don't blame her. The person who needs investigating is the one who broke in and took a child from his bed.
She didn't blame her, she just commented on the state of the house. I don't see how that's out of bounds, especially on a channel that looks into people's lives like this.
it was very clear to me to see that it was in fact NOT Monica's oldest boy Cameron in that room on the cameras. Not to mention the heartbreak when he's talking about the little boy he so clearly loved. I think Monica was just doing her best and it's not fair to make assumptions/accusations based on the state of her home. I've seen much worse than marker on a wall and sheets for curtains. Her and her biological kids really seem to have loved these boys
@@qaetoids The point though is that it's not unrealistic to want to look at every angle when it comes to dead children. Chances are that she is innocent but you can't ignore potential indicators because feelings. I don't think she had anything to do with it by the way, I just don't think feelings matter when you're trying to find a child killer.
She freaked out on him because he's a stranger in her house with her kids. I would freak out too no matter who you are. If you're around my kids in my house without notice I'm gonna freak out!
Thank you!!!!! Even if I know you. Show up in my house uninvited and playing with my kids? GOOD FOR HER FOR GETTING UPSET! Would Stephanie prefer she let him stay? I don’t understand
If anyone shows up to my house without me knowing nd being around my kids you bet imma kick your ass out of my house. 😒 I don't think the lady who was raising them did anything wrong, she took in two kids who aren't even hers that takes a strong person to do so. ❤️
You have to give Monica some credit. She gave the twins a place to sleep, fed them, and took them to school which is more than the parents did. The eighteen year that murdered one twin would have murdered the other one as well!
from monica’s interview, what i saw was a woman in shock.. we can’t really determine guilt from reaction as we all know grief looks different on everyone. i don’t think she had anything to do with this though and maybe it’s my idealistic thinking but the dad’s recording seemed very genuine to me - he was trying hard to keep it together the whole time
Even if she did show guilt, a lot of parents tend to blame themselves when something happens to a child. They beat themselves up over not protecting their child, even if they had no way of knowing what would happen. Emotions and body language are incredibly subjective and require a lot of context to properly understand.
The dad was upset for sure. I think he must have a lot of guilt, but the facts are he left his kids in that environment . I think he was being selfish and just wanted to wash his hands of them hoping theyd be ok though. The woman is clearly a meth addict, that was the look on her face. But i do think she probably tried her best to care for them.
@@iwasbornalive maybe he was slipping back into drugs and felt she was the best option for the kids? He was probably in a worse environment or trying to better his environment in order to get his kids. She did say he struggled with addiction himself right?
The way hes creeping in the video, it doesn't seem like anyone else in the house knew he was there.. He stood & thought about it for a minute & then suddenly runs & grabs the kid. It seems like he was trying to leave before someone saw him..
I honestly think he was creeping for a minute because he was trying to figure out if he could take both boys at one time, then realizes he can’t take both grabs one and leaves.
You know it's absolutely true about not remembering the cameras when you're in a crazy situation. My husband and I were threatened by a man with a knife while we were in our car and it wasn't until after the event and the police mentioned the store we were near having cameras that I remembered that we have a dash cam and we got it all on tape
Exactly. My 3yo escaped my mums backyard while we were visiting once. It was only a couple mins but as soon as we realised he'd gotten out the front, I remember running to the middle of the road looking left & right and just going blank.
It’s clear that woman has issues but the fact that she took those little boys in as her own is true love. That poor woman. My heart goes out to her. She lost HER baby ❤️🥺☹️

I honestly feel so bad for Monica. When I first saw her I instantly judged her and felt like drugs were involved but after hearing her speak and hearing the blame the biological mother and other people are putting on her something tells me imo that she doesn’t deserve this.
Honestly I can't help but stand in support of Monica here. She talks about those little boys as if they're her own, and she's spent months raising them when their own parents weren't around. She has her own issues, but it's clear she loved Cash and his brother and I can't help but feel immense sympathy for her.
I agree. The footage of him taking Cash and then of him returning possibly for Carter should have been enough to hold him without a bond. The system (IMO) is totally F***ed. Rest In Peace Cash!😔
Exactly crazy ass father, mom and stepmom if she had drug problems and left those kids with her, he must be just as unfit. Druggies usually go with druggies andvfrkn keep having babies with druggies. No druggie likes kids all the money goes to their drugs and time getting high they could care less about any I said any ki, especially if not there. Find out who supported those kids and how, bigger kids mustve been fed up with twins they r inpatient and were these younger kids on drugs. If mom was clean drug wise, how could did they manage without support cuz kids after 18 dont get help.
I can't believe some people. They are just a poor excuse of a human being. I have no respect for parents who abuse, neglect, abandon their kids! My mother kidnapped me and my 7 siblings. 5 boys 3 girls. All a year apart. My father delivered each one of us, and there isn't anything he wouldn't do for his kids. Once she kidnapped us, we were in a basement hidden for months. My dad was at the very peak of his dream career. One he knew would provide for his kids. When this happened I assumed he had a choice. He told me it was never a choice. He said he instantly knew what he was to do. He met my mother at a spot she chose to give her money for our food etc.. and during that he went to court.. Got a 6 bedroom home.. set it up.. furnished it .. 8 beds.. you name it.. He fought and plead to the court he would vow to take care of all of us. He was granted full custody of all of us..Had us enrolled in school.. hired a friend who was a nanny to help..started a different business..and to this day has just devoted himself to his kids. It is something that mentally drove him to insanity at times. I could see it in him..But he never ceased to be there..to take care of us..He didn't rest on weekends. He took us to the parks..to the lakes..etc. I don't know how he did it to be honest. I don't know how. What I do know is that he mustard up every single fiber of his being to provide and to be a father to his kids knowing he would never be the same without us. He has no patience and no empathy for father's who do not take care of their kids..I remember when I was young around 10 to 13 he would always offer to grocery shop for a single mother with 3 boys on our block. He'd take them to school with us..and involved them when he could to be part of our time with Dad. He didn't want them to feel they weren't loved. When I think of every single event my father went through..all I've witnessed...There is no question in my mind..That my father is undoubtedly the most amazing extraordinary man. If he can do it with 8. I KNOW a man can do it with two. It comes down to your heart. Your principles. Thinking of your kids. No longer yourself. Knowing you now are responsible for another human..and what kind of person they will be..how much love you decide to give..what an impact you have on their lives should you choose to walk away. Its always obtainable. Its a matter of that man wanting to wake that part of him..No child deserves this. Not one.

@@gino4047 yes, very cruel! How could anyone do such a think? Taking that poor baby out of his safe warm bed, and harming him. My heart breaks for him!
I think he gave him to Cameron outside of camera view... allegedly and Cameron and his mom set him up knowing they could use the security footage again allegedly of course. I would like to see the footage of the entire house (or wherever they have cameras according to Cameron throughout the house) from the time Darren allegedly came over two days prior up until the entire day of the day they found Cash. I think it would be very telling. Allegedly...
I think it was said baby had a urinated blanket and that's probably why he was carried that way, I may be confusing the case a little with baby Amari (vegas) but either way it is devastating and sad . 😭
@@sadieelizabeth9744 and why was he one who said hey we have cameras. So no one else remembered that? I think your onto something. Also, he had to have known how to get in and where their rooms were.
Oh no Stephanie I have to disagree on this one with you sorry! Forgive me but I don’t think she has anything to do with it. She does look like she might be under the influence of something in the interview but you can tell she’s heartbroken.
I believe she knew the guy and he had been around the boys but I don't think she had anything to do with the murder. I think her relationship with him had something to do with drugs and she's afraid. In the video it look like the guy was trying to pick out the specific child he wanted
I disagree, her interview was very suspicious not to mention the fact that nothing adds up. She definitely had something to do with it or knew something more than what she spoke of. I’m sure she is sad about it, I would assume guilt is eating her up.
She is off her tree. Her son was too. It’s clearly a drug house. There that smashed they didn’t even realise they were too wasted to go on tv. Come on. Also guilt can be pretty heavy. She is probably terrified everything will come out.
I feel you're right Sharon, the thing about grief is that everyone does it and experiences it differently.. that's not to say people can be great actors such as the case of the Philpot in the U.K. Unfortunately some people can't deal with the emotions in their natural state so chances are they will be less able to handle them when they're flooded with them, so with that being said, it's likely she was under the influence of something for one of two reasons, dependency or grief. There are plenty people who had to take a tranquilizer of sorts in order to calm down .. a situation I experienced through my mother when one of my brother's was found , thought for dead on the road. Thankfully he survived but my mother, under medication, reacted unlike herself while being interviewed ... slurred speech, glazed look and almost aloof to the entire situation, yet we knew the cause. Many rumors ran regarding her detached demeanor and substance dependency when it certainly was not the case and no one outside of us, not even police opted to state she was under a tranquilizer when the report was aired. I too grieve differently and all I can say is that, we will never please everybody... and grief must be addressed in a much more delicate manner in every circumstance, not just the ones that we think we can identify because we watched enough crime shows.
What do you mean why would she go so hard to get him out the house? He’s literally known through the whole neighborhood by face as a violent trouble maker. Why is this so confusing for you and what research is there to be done on that topic. I’m lost?
This case seems more straightforward than others. Darriynn was caught, ON CAMERA, vandalizing and stalking the neighborhood. He was making threats to murder at night. The neighborhood was frantic. The police were notified. He carried through on these threats. The police failed to do a thorough job. While Monica has some issues, she was clearly doing right by these children while the biological parents had NOT done right by them. A history of addiction does not = murderous intentions. Of course she kicked Darriynn out of the house when she realized he was in there. He was the neighborhood crazy creep and she was on high alert! I'd have kicked his ass out too! As for Melinda saying she was looking for her children...LIE...as no police report was filed to claim them missing. The father...he'll spend his life regretting this so that's enough punishment. Darriyn is the only one responsible for Cash not being here. The police department is responsible for not giving solid and consistent attention to the seriousness of Darriyn's criminal behavior and threats. Cash lost his life and Carter will likely spend a lifetime seeking healing. It's so very sad and perhaps was possibly preventable. We'll never know. Darriynn should be sentenced to life. God bless everyone involved. Seriously.💔
Monica lost her baby boy too SIDS in 2009. As far as Mr. Brown creeping her out..she has a very intuitive ability most likely he gave her bad vibes. Monica has always been super protective of her children of all children. She's a good mom, she's very nurturing, loving, caring, and extremely protective of her children. This is without word a senseless crime. My heart goes out to the family & those loved the little boy. RIP
If the whole neighborhood knew that Darren was a nuisance and danger in the neighborhood, that would explain why she kicked him out of the house when she came home to find him there. Idk, I don’t think that’s suspicious. Idk how I feel about Monica, but that part didn’t give me any weird vibes.
Yeah, to me the weird part isn't that, it's the fact that she didn't mention the incident earlier on. Like, "Hey, that's the guy that was in my house and I told him to leave and not come back!"
It’s not really weird to me either. I think she probably knew he was a creep and what people had accused of him so that’s why she kicked him out of her house. If she said that there was no relationship between Cash and Brown, then finding out that she knew he was a creep and she kicked him out of her house, doesn’t mean that they had a relationship. And if she said she didn’t know why Brown would abduct him....Brown was accused of burglary and stuff right? I wouldn’t necessarily jump from the neighbourhood thief to kidnapper. I don’t know. I might be pretty wrong but I don’t really think she had something to do with it.
@@emmalynbreaux1017 i don’t think she did either. But, if she did, I guess I wouldn’t be shocked. But then again, after all the true crime i watch, nothing really surprises me anymore.
I agree. I think that Monica's sketchy behavior can be better explained by the possibility that she was using drugs again around the time of the kidnapping and doesn't want anyone to know because she doesn't want to be judged by her community or even arrested.
I was with you until the very end. I don’t think you understand poverty and the behaviors that come with it. 1. Nobody calls the police for any reason. 2. Even when innocent, minimal information is handed to police. 3. The police and CPS are always the enemy, not there to help. Fear of the boys being split up and enduring the system is scarier than just trying to figure it out day by day. In my neighborhood there were mothers that stepped up for the kids that had garbage moms. No one reported it.
you make a great point about wanting to avoid the boys being split up. especially since they were twins--that's such a special bond, it probably made Monica even more determined to look after them herself. and it's broken now. oh this is heartbreaking.
@@ellieblack8028 it truly is. I cried so hard for Cash, and even more that Carter has to go the rest of his life without his twin brother. I can’t imagine the pain. What a senseless tragedy 🥀
Thats been my issue the whole video. I just keep thinking of Carter. He will be profoundly impacted by this situation but also he's so so young. Poor poor baby i wanna dnuggle him up. It seems like every adult surrounding these babies failed.them both.
All the typical trolling comments and it comes down to "all attention and time should be dedicated to Cash" and Carter. They says twins have a strong connection and can't imagine the pain this child is going through.😥
The man charged with the brutal stabbing murder of 4-year-old Cash Gernon was found incompetent to stand trial after he was assessed by both the prosecution and his defense team. You should do a follow up!
If he lived in the same neighborhood why WOULDN’T Monica demand he leave while she has small children in the home? She must’ve known he was trouble and recognized danger. I’m seeing this case completely differently than what is portrayed. I don’t find it odd she forgot the cameras initially.
Idk much about this case, but if I came home from grocery shopping and found an 18 yr old spending time with my 4 yr old, I'd go hard and kick him out also. If he isn't there for the teenager, why is that so odd that she would kick him out?
I agree that Monica's housekeeping standards were somewhat below par, but both Carter and Cash appeared healthy, well fed, appropriately clothed, and ultimately happy! There were countless pictures of the boys doing various different and sometimes rather mundane things, which in itself implies that they mattered very much to her! She did appear to really care about them. While snapping pics of them might seem irrelevant, it isn't, as silly as it may sound. It gives an insight into how well the boys had merged into, and been welcomed in as valued members of the family unit. Monica may have a colourful past, but I don't think she had any part in what happened to Cash. She probably was scared of being judged as a caregiver by her past, and that may account for some of the glossing over of facts. Imo that vile Darrin kid is 100% the guilty party and the only guilty party. (Though the natural parents do leave a lot to be desired too!)
You can see in her eyes in an interview with her that she is completely traumatized by this. She had absolutely nothing to do with this. She may have an intuitive instinct to keep this guy away, if that, but that's what it was. Instinct. She's traumatized.
The twin brother is who I’m devastated for. He lost his comfort, his best friend. On top of losing that he’s now places in a new home again I can’t believe this mess of a tragedy. Monica looks like she’s currently on some serious drugs in that interview as well this is so sad
I had to double back on this one. My Spidey senses are tingling too,, but for much different reasons than Miss Stephanie. I have reached the gloriously peaceful age of 55. With that comes experience and the "wisdom to know the difference". Typically the simplest reason, is the reason. The one thing I've learned about boys and men is that they live, breathe and die for sexual pleasure. When we listen to and research cases of pedophilia and murder it is typically based in SP. That kid clearly had exhibited those behavior markers and carried out his plan. Those extreme people, they plan and plot. They seek out their victims. I don't give a f__k that Monica and the twins dad had drug history. It's like poverty. You can have drug problems and still deeply love and care for children. And once again I will say that coming home to an adolescent boy focused on one child is 100% enough to piss a woman off. At that age the only thing boys want is SP. Add mental disorder in there and what seems to be a target...recipe for disaster. You can come home and find that freak in your home and not know him. My Spidey senses, or common sense, as it were are telling me that boy had been studying on cash and his "families" comings and goings and went there with intent on getting the layout of the land per say. The daughter or son were probably surprised by his visit and only let him in by whatever clever rouse he came up with. Teen, normal teens, wouldn't think, "hey this freak is thinking about and figuring out how to get this kid outta here undetected". Normal people wouldn't. He is recorded doing this evil deed. How much clearer can it be? It's recorded!
We don’t know this lady’s financial situation. She has 4 kids plus an extra 2. I don’t think she’s purposely living in a run down house. Not everyone is living in luxury.
Yep, I think this too. She had a lot to do with all the kids, probably didn’t have much money to have things done professionally and had no strength left to take care of some of the household things. I am OK with money, I have just enough and am not rich, not poor, have a husband, a job and only two kids and sometimes I am so exhausted, that I just leave something lying on the floor that the kids left there or don’t do some housework right away, because I just had enough for that day. But my kids are my everything and I do my best so that they have a happy childhood. I don’t t think Monica’s house situation says anything about how she cared for her kids. She also probably didn’t think some things through, like what would happen when the boys go to school etc. Some people are not so sophisticated (let’s put it this way) and they just go with whatever situation they are in at the moment. Not my way of coping with things, but 🤷🏻♀️. I also wouldn’t leave my kids with a stranger (as the father did) and go live my life. So, I wouldn’t blame her at all, if there is no real evidence, that she has anything to do with this terrible crime.
Exactly!! This youtuber was obviously born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She is way off on this and because of her bias I'm not watching anymore of her shows
Yes, I'm doing up my house aswell as us both working full time and still not having much money. The struggle is real. Made me feel like a failure hearing that. I try everyday and clean everyday but it takes time to buy pretty things
Imo yeah Monica wasn’t perfect and she maybe didn’t have the cleanest home for a chil she came from a good place caring for these boys and her kindness back fires and now she is being taken apart. The saying no good deed goes unpunished seems to fit I do feel like there was some carelessness toward the boys but that doesn’t equal that she was involved
With you on this. Can't tell how bio-dad leaves town with them, returns later without and there isn't any police report made by bio-mom who claims to have been "looking" for them. I also don't blame Monica for not reporting them being dropped in her lap. Chances are with her record they go in the system. Even if she could provide for them.
I couldnt even listen to the Dad's statement. Looking for a job or not he abandoned those children and then tried to blame the woman who took them in for their deaths. Hes a horrible person in my book.
Yeah, same. Maybe I'm being way harsh, because at the end of the day he lost his son and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. But. Listening to him talk, I just get the feeling that every one of his tears is for himself, not a single one for Cash or Carter
I understand his mum wants to defend him, but she can’t deny that he’s not so “kind” as she mentioned, when he’s on camera smashing cameras etc. There’s evidence that his behaviour is very very worrying.
Seriously. They should have said he was a drug dealer or plant drugs on him and I bet he would have been arrested and jailed in a heartbeat. Sadly, that’s treated more harshly than child abuse or pedophilia.
He's probably a natural-born killer. He's 18 years old and kidnapped and murdered a 4-year-old little boy. He already tried to kidnap a 2-year-old little girl. He's probably killed animals before if not worse.
Monica looked so shocked & distraught. I can see why she didn't think of her cameras, she believed he went outside based on what Carter telling her Cash did.
When you live in the hood or in an “Urban” area you know or KNOW OF certain characters in a neighborhood. You can be nice outside but your home is your safe haven. It’s not shady for Monica’s action when you come from where I come from!!!
Exactly! And you want to be "nice" to that extent because otherwise you have to worry about retaliation but someone INSIDE your home- completely different situation

Omg my son got out of the house on his own when he was 2 yrs old! He walked down the street to the fire station and someone THNK GOD a called the police. This was at 7am and I had NO IDEA he got out! He would always come into my room and say “hey mama!”. He told the police where he lived at 2 yrs old and I dropped to my knees when I answered the door and he was with them. I thought he was still asleep in his room! This even haunts me always, just the what if’s. He is almost 11 now and he is my best friend. I am so blessed that day wasn’t as bad as it could have been. That same day we put 4 different style locks on the front and back door. It never happens again. Come to find out my husband did the same thing when he was 2!
Thank you for saying this.
Well said!
What I got from the picture was that scetchy paint bucket in the middle of the room ? Had they just moved in or remodeling? Who leaves paint in the middle of a child's room next to toys ?
Get them girl! focus on what’s important about this video!
Exactly. I just watched a video on poor Tristyn Bailey and someone said "i thought this was a wealthy area"...it makes no difference.
That baby waking up and calling out his brothers name is absolutely the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever seen.
Same!! I watch true crime a lot but that was hard to hear.
It took everything in my power not to cry...
I cried at that part it reminded me of my boys my twins are never separated and they get upeet if they can't find each other
My tears were delayed, for a couple reason, but hearing his confusion was heart breaking. I recalled moments in my own life where I lost a loved one also, having to go home and tell my grandpa that grandma was gone….his voice was the same, confused and pleading.
Same! My whole stomach dropped it felt awful 😢 my heart goes out to those twin boys sooo much ❤️❤️
Guess whose fault it is, if someone gets murdered.
It's the murderer's fault. The end.
Yes!
Exactly.
Her son is heart broken. That’s his family 😢
I think Monica just gives weird vibes from years of drug use, not because she has anything to do with Cash’s death. This guy was terrorizing the neighborhood and the police/his parents did nothing. If anyone else should be held accountable- it should be them.
agreed. he was failed by most of the adults in his life it seems , so sad :(
AGREED! I was thinking this too.
I was thinking that too, she seems odd because drugs have damaged her brain possibly.
And trauma
That’s how she struck me too. A tweaker but not hiding anything about what happened.
You said it your self “ he was creeping and harassing neighbors” a huge reason why Monica didn’t want him in her home !
I was thinking the same thing smh….she knew what it was and why she didnt want him there. Unfortunately he made a sick promise and kept to it. I pray that his soul is/can rest peacefully
The footage of him in the children’s bedroom is so deeply disturbing...
haunting
Poor baby boy that made my blood boil for that low life.
And the fact that he came back to get the other twin.
Can you imagine seeing something like this on your camera?
Seriously, I had to stop the video. It took me a whole other day to finally pick up the courage to watch the video again.
Sadly, cash is not the only victim here. His brother carter will be traumatized from this...bless him. I pray carter will please have a loving home and lots of love.
well said! it seems with a lot of these cases when someone survives we’re like “aw yay!” but we forget how it will affect them. This poor baby.
From the sounds of it they took care of each other and they were Each Other's Love. Very sad
🥺 Breaks my soul. This sh*t has to stop. We have to start getting rid of these demons.
He lost his brother and then was immediately stolen away from the rest of his family. It must have been so confusing and devastating for him.
Allegedly. You could say the same thing about Daddyof5 luckily his kids are back with their mom now instead of dead
So even if Monica had something to do with it we should just ignore that part? Not saying she did but your comment is so naive that it hurts. If we did things your way Chris watts would've just been believed and still be free.
Exactly! The biological moms been looking for her children for 3 months but NO missing child report filed?
Totally agree
Exactly...she's the only one who seemed to give a shit about those boys.
So, this childʻs father left him and his brother with a SINGLE MOTHER because taking care of twins is so DIFFICULT? The logic behind that, the utter male privilege, is jaw dropping.
🙄🙄🙄🙄 man loses his child and you make it a political issue?
A single mother with other kids, no less. I think she really cared about them, though--
Not even close to what he said.
"Male privilege"?!?!? Surely, you jest.
Monica stepped in when his parents weren't involved. She said they needed stability. I really don't think she is at fault.
Nope. The grandma of cash sent police to Monica's and she said the boys weren't there.
Especially since she had cameras in the baby’s room
Monica seems to genuinely care for those boys. She’s an addict. So yeah she’s a little weird, but 3 months of taking care of two children she was not obligated to care for and she knows all about their personalities and talks about them like a mom. I don’t believe she did anything to that little boy. Whole thing is heartbreaking. Bio mom and dad need to show her some respect for doing what they wouldn’t. She absolutely deserves to be at his funeral.
Monica reminds them of their guilt, so shes the enemy to the bio mom and dad.
Absolutely. I'm heartbroken for Monica and her family. 💔
What I'm worried about is that Darriyn brown will be pressured into making a fake statement by his mom that Monica made him do it
I'm with you there.
I completely agree. I think she did better by those kids than anyone else in their lives' did.
Sure! I don't think Monika or her older son had anything to do with the crime in any shape or form, they seem to care about the boys more than anyone
Totally agree!
I'm not a twin but I agree. I hope his heart can heal from this. 😢
This woman looks extremely grievous. Heartbreaking. She's right. You forget certain things when you're traumatized
She’s in shock.
I thought the exact same thing
Exactly I would’ve totally went off and been freaked out
I think she's meaning what does Monica know about Brown for her react like that if he's friend of her son
@@jennifermaddy2442 bc he already had a record
Also the same 18y/o that has been terrorizing the neighborhood and telling them he would kill their families for a long time.
5 minutes in and my heart is breaking for this little boy. Alone and unclothed and covered in ants in the road? Heartbreaking.
It’s absolutely unacceptable
@@StephanieHarlowe now my heart is breaking even more knowing he was a twin and seeing that video of his brother. Some people are absolute monsters.
Sometimes I really can’t stand people..
It's the little details, like the ants that makes it so much more disturbing and unacceptable. The woman who found him has to be traumatized
Th only person in his life that didn’t fail him in my opinion 😞
I can't imagine anyone leaving him
...dead or alive. She really cared❤
Oh of course, put the blame on the mother and not the killer. You blacks are all the same.
That's definitely the house of an overworked addict mom, coming from someone who was raised by one of those. I have a hard time believing Monica was in on this... I think she just comes across as sketchy because she's an addict and she's probably traumatized by the event.
totally..
I agree.
It doesn't matter what the adults in Cash's life have done. It's the fault of the sick guy that killed poor Cash.
Its so relieving seeing that there still ppl separating things here... The dynamics of the adults life style from the crime that happened... In many cases, the dynamics lead to a crime... But it does not seem to be the case here...
Yes I agree!!! I feel awful for monica, she’s being demonized and why??
Be careful who you associate with, who you let in your home. Some of these crimes can be avoided.
I completely agree! 💚
Hearing that little boy cry his brother’s name broke me, I’m sobbing. How could anyone ever hurt a child? 😔
Me too @Whitney B that pulled at my heart strings. Poor baby will never forget his brother. It breaks my heart to think of the unstable life the boys had.. 💔😢💙

right , like wtf round two jfc disgusting !
I suspect he was told to take both boys, but could only carry one at a time. Just my opinion though.
That's what I was thinking too.
Neighbors also called the police to report his strange behaviors at different times and nothing was done. This case is tragic on so many different levels.
@Kristi Collins I don’t think Monica had anything to do with it but gotta admit that thought crossed my mind as well.
In regards to the home, THANK YOU!
Why does she not blink? At all! , for the entire interview?
How is everyone wanting to say Monica is involved when he’d come back for carter and got scared off? Why would he have gotten scared off if he was supposed to be there?? And there’s nothing that strange about carter not being more outspoken about cash not being there. My children don’t always care that much where the other one is. And I have 5 year old twin boys so I should know. I think she’s got a drug problem but I can’t even imagine trying to blame her when the neighbor hood creep who’s had a fantasy with killing someone is the one on camera.
The camera itself is suspicious. I feel like she hired that kid to kidnap and kill both of those boys.
@@shaddowgolden1054 1. why would she do that 2. why would he leave and come back 2 HOURS later if that was the case
that woman is an addict, she wouldnt be sitting here planning this meticulous plan for this dude to murder these children and make it look like she had no involvement. the way this went down doesnt back that theory in any way
Why are we picking apart the only person who took on responsibility for these twins. People change. And the bio parents didn’t seem to give a damn, blame them!
Yes!!!
Agreed!!
Thank you
Lol ....ok then. y'all keep that same energy with Jaqueline and Trezel West
I mean, blame the murderer the most. But yes... Even if she's a little off rn, it's not on her
Exactly
I thought the same thing about her kicking him out!! She knew about him!!
He was known for being anti white.

my thoughts on why Monica didn’t report the boys being left with her is that she wanted to keep them and knew that with her prior convictions, they’d be taken from her and she’d be unable to foster. but that’s just my thought based on the info we have currently.
The denial from the assailant's mother shows how Darren has avoided accountability and consequences throughout his life.
a LOT of their moms are like that.. thats why i crack up when people mention "black moms" as if they are tough on their kids or something
I 100% agree with you!
Thank you! I see a woman who didn't have a clean past but was doing the best she could to do more than was expected of her.
Yes. There is definitely kids without a bed, a roof or toys.
Lmao everyone feeling bad for Monica is nuts I certainly hope y’all ain’t parents 😂
Ok but why did it took her so long to call the police? And twins sleeping in a crib?
Monica may have a drug problem, but she did a damn good job juggling a huge household full of teens, kids, and toddlers better than any of us could have. She clearly loved that baby boy and so did her kids, you can see it in cameron. Maybe life wasnt perfect, but cash had stability, comfort, warmth, and love in her care, which was more than his bio parents or the system could give him. Let's give fault to the irresponsibility of the bio parents and the actual murderer. Monica is just a distraction tactic.
Exactly!
Agreed!
@@ange3261 I’m sorry but that doesn’t always apply. My aunt was an alcoholic, who let her kids run wild since they were very young, their apartment was always dirty, but in spite of her terrible parenting, they turned out great, so all I’m saying is that you just never know, and it’s best to not assume anything 🤷🏼♀️
I would have preferred to hear more about Darren and his psychological issues, and whether or not he’s had past diagnoses before then, about Monica.
I don't find Monica or her acts suspicious. IMO, the guy was clearly and knowingly disturbed, and he's responsible for what happened to the poor child. Also, how in hell the father just left his boys in other people's home and run? I think none of their biological parents are trustworthy or even have the right to talk.
The fact that he CAME BACK for the twin is so disturbing.. shows he had ZERO remorse for murdering an innocent baby.
No matter where or who he is withe.... they cannot even grasp the confusion and pain that little boy is in right now😥😥😥
Im thinking his connection with his brother was what told him he went out front.
I was thinking the same, twins are very close. It’s truly heartbreaking,he did sound in pain when he called out his name 😢😭
The father paid the ultimate price?!? It seems like Cash paid the price for his father’s betrayal.
Agreed!
The druggie mindset: “me me me me me me”.
Right! He left them
I hate that he said, “he did it because they were on a routine.” Excuse me sir, dropping off your kids at a strangers house disrupts their routine more than you moving with them! 🙄 he was only thinking of himself.
The child paid the ultimate price. He didn't have a CHOICE unlike junkie dad.
Culture?
@@SumireIsrafel shrug, couldn't think of a better word
If I came home and *anyone* was in my home uninvited playing with my kids I'd go absolutely mental, whether I knew of them or not.
I wouldn’t want anyone who I don’t know in my house around my kids PERIOD. Reputation or not
Yeah would go ape shit! He’s a known terrorizer
Exactly! She knew his reputation in the neighborhood and her older son knows what he is like from going to school with him,
I think Monica looks genuinely devastated.

The woman who found Cash is such a sweetheart and I genuinely hope she is being supported through this time.
It's difficult to keep Monica's stories straight along with Cameron, so there's that.
I got the impression that Stephanie was insinuating that Monica had heard these stories and knew who he was or else why would she have kicked him out
I am so heartbroken for Carter. He is never going to forget that day. I just want to hug him.
I hope he gets therapy. The survivors guilt will be real. Especially since it may have been just chance that Cash was grabbed first and not him.
Would a 4 year old remember? I do not remember much as a 4 year old. Your brain changes a lot at age 7. I lost my grandmother age 6 which was a very sad experience for my family but it had no impact on me as I did not understand. I pray Carter is the same.

Never doubt ur first thought...step mom appears suspicious
I'm alil torn here, I agree with @hollymays; it's true the entire community had probably spread the word about about darryn so when Monica saw him in her home she reacted. I would have reacted the same exact way.
As for Monica having anything to do with cashes' murder, it's possible but I think it may have been some sort of retaliation against the father. I mean darryn looks like he's high on something so illegal drug use combined with having mental disabilities is a tragedy in and of itself.
At the end of the day cashes death could have been prevented if the p.d. would have taken reports against darryn more seriously.
@@elbastarrpoet1209 but she said she didn't think she was suspicious so why are you saying that?
I honestly don't think Monica had anything to do with this, she's just an addict living in poverty. Her home doesn't really seem fit to raise kids, which is why I think she might be stretching the truth on some things. But I don't think its because she "planned" the murder, I think its because she's trying to hide her home life and addiction so her kids aren't taken away.
It also doesn't seem like a good area. I mean that creep was able to waltz in and steal that baby, just like that.
I hope everyone takes a moment to digest and consider @holly mays intelligent, valid, and respectful comment.

The “step mom” probably knew that guy was the neighborhood weirdo, that’s why she wanted him out of her house.
My thoughts too..
Right. I don’t find that weird that you can kinda know what someone is without being friends with them. That’s small town/ local area gossip right there
She looks really messed up.
I suspect she caught him in a compromising situation and threw him out and then didn’t want to admit this to the police. POS, in my opinion.

I don't think Monica is to blame either. She was the only one who seemed to give a shit about those boys.
She was saying it was suspicious Monica and her son said they had no link with the perpetrator and that Cameron only knew him from school when apparently, she knew more about him.
Yea with those threats going around I would have wanted him away from my kids. Asap
Yeah just coming home to an uninvited stranger is enough for me to yell and tell him to get out. I don’t think any other knowledge of him was needed to justify that reaction.
Thank you!!! She is just trying to place blame on monica and i love that she said this before exposing everyone was creeped out by him smh

You have to give Monica some credit. She gave the twins a place to sleep, fed them, and took them to school which is more than the parents did. The eighteen year that murdered one twin would have murdered the other one as well!
from monica’s interview, what i saw was a woman in shock.. we can’t really determine guilt from reaction as we all know grief looks different on everyone. i don’t think she had anything to do with this though and maybe it’s my idealistic thinking but the dad’s recording seemed very genuine to me - he was trying hard to keep it together the whole time
i was thinking the exact same thing
Even if she did show guilt, a lot of parents tend to blame themselves when something happens to a child. They beat themselves up over not protecting their child, even if they had no way of knowing what would happen. Emotions and body language are incredibly subjective and require a lot of context to properly understand.
I agree…
The dad was upset for sure. I think he must have a lot of guilt, but the facts are he left his kids in that environment . I think he was being selfish and just wanted to wash his hands of them hoping theyd be ok though. The woman is clearly a meth addict, that was the look on her face.
Seriously.💔
its funny how no matter what people always try to find a woman to blame a mans actions on
Drug addicts are more likely to hurt themselves than other people. (I used to be a drug addict, and I never hurt another person.)
@@hollyhayes9640 THANK YOU! drug addicts get a notoriously dramatically bad rap
RIP
Good mothers don’t do meth lol they also don’t let their children live in filth. She’s your friend. That’s the only reason you’re saying this.
I know you don't know me but if you're still friends with Monica and see her, please pass on my love, prayers and condolences 🙏 💔😓

People are afraid to speak up for getting "George Zimmerman'ed" by the press.
Exactly. Thank you for saying this
you make a great point about wanting to avoid the boys being split up. especially since they were twins--that's such a special bond, it probably made Monica even more determined to look after them herself. and it's broken now. oh this is heartbreaking.
@@ellieblack8028 it truly is. I cried so hard for Cash, and even more that Carter has to go the rest of his life without his twin brother. I can’t imagine the pain. What a senseless tragedy 🥀
Steph really showing her privilege in this one lol
@@randybobandy4000 agreed. I hope she uses this as a learning tool. I love Steph but she has far too much trust in the system.
I'm 13 minutes in and crying. I feel so bad for Carter, waking up crying for his brother. Sending so much love that way, it's so heartbreaking.
I know. Heartbreaking 💜
Thats been my issue the whole video. I just keep thinking of Carter. He will be profoundly impacted by this situation but also he's so so young. Poor poor baby i wanna dnuggle him up. It seems like every adult surrounding these babies failed.them both.
Me too! And then he was snatched away from that home and probably put in foster care so he literally lost everything. Poor boys:(
All the typical trolling comments and it comes down to "all attention and time should be dedicated to Cash" and Carter. They says twins have a strong connection and can't imagine the pain this child is going through.😥
The man charged with the brutal stabbing murder of 4-year-old Cash Gernon was found incompetent to stand trial after he was assessed by both the prosecution and his defense team. You should do a follow up!
Wow. That fucking sucks. I really wanted to see him get what he deserves, life in prison.
@@kass_G59I want him to get what he REALLY deserves….sick sob ! This shyt pisses me off so bad can’t stop crying….I’m so fkin angry
If he lived in the same neighborhood why WOULDN’T Monica demand he leave while she has small children in the home? She must’ve known he was trouble and recognized danger. I’m seeing this case completely differently than what is portrayed. I don’t find it odd she forgot the cameras initially.
Exactly! Everyone acting like there's a huge conspiracy when it seems all the neighbors knew he was a freak!
Definitely agree with this
Idk much about this case, but if I came home from grocery shopping and found an 18 yr old spending time with my 4 yr old, I'd go hard and kick him out also. If he isn't there for the teenager, why is that so odd that she would kick him out?
when you're in a panic like that you're searching & calling for him not sitting down to look at cameras
he had a reputation
Half of the people lambasting her domestic skills suck at this themselves. That's clownish.
U must be OCD.
Well said, I echo every word
She also has 4 teenagers and 2 toddlers- that’s a lot of people that don’t always pick up after themself
It's recorded!
this is the most well worded comment on this video. this one should be double pinned
This is it right here
We don’t know this lady’s financial situation. She has 4 kids plus an extra 2. I don’t think she’s purposely living in a run down house. Not everyone is living in luxury.
YES!! 👏👏👏
@@kirstycallaghan4644 Do you have to buy nice things in order to pick up the things you already have? I've never ran into that problem.
Imo yeah Monica wasn’t perfect and she maybe didn’t have the cleanest home for a chil she came from a good place caring for these boys and her kindness back fires and now she is being taken apart. The saying no good deed goes unpunished seems to fit
I do feel like there was some carelessness toward the boys but that doesn’t equal that she was involved
Exactly! If anyone is to look to it's him! And the bio mom
Yeah, same. Maybe I'm being way harsh, because at the end of the day he lost his son and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. But. Listening to him talk, I just get the feeling that every one of his tears is for himself, not a single one for Cash or Carter
And he says he paid the ultimate price for his poor judgement when really it was his toddler son who had to pay
@@katyag6564 Exactly. I heard that part and was like nope, not listening to anymore of this.
Well, the Dad left them there and I feel monica protected them as best she could
I understand his mum wants to defend him, but she can’t deny that he’s not so “kind” as she mentioned, when he’s on camera smashing cameras etc. There’s evidence that his behaviour is very very worrying.
Disgusting
Worrying??? Seriously... his behavior is demonic.
He is a true pos.
Exactly, I grew up around the way. Thankfully though the worst we got was drug addicts stealing things outside. There was a shooting but that happened once when I was a baby. The crackheads around me were cool af though😂 we'd talk and give them change or a ride to the liquor store. But you always know who's shady around you, even if you don't directly know them

but seeing the surveillance video of Cash being grabbed out of his sleep. And then seeing his brother wake in the morning confused and saying “Cash”.

the only way to describe this case and the security footage is absolutely disturbing and disgusting. and hearing his brother call his name right after he woke up and couldn't find him completely broke my heart. 💔
