True, but how does he get to be who he is ? The parents do seem to have spoiled him too much...cutting him off then was just to late... how does the saying go, be cruel to be kind ? I especially appreciated that she mentioned that there was a dog in the house and that he wasn't aggressive. She also gave them the dog's name so if there was a situation, the dog would know the cops weren't complete strangers.
The USDOJ called the shooting of pet dogs by cops an 'epidemic' and about 30 pet dogs are shot by cops in the US *per day.* So it was nice she warned them that the dog was friendly so they would be less inclined to murder it.

The difference between us and this guy is that we *appreciate* that help, express appreciation, have actual relationships with our families, and don't see our parents as ATMs. And I'm pretty sure that neither of us are planning to kill anyone, either. ;)
Still, I know how tough it is when you want to be making your own way, and your own body/mind get in your way! I'd been doing work I loved as an Art Therapist for just under a year when the pandemic hit, and I got sick with COVID the literal day after the day my program was put on indefinite hold due to the pandemic. As much as you may be hurt by words, giving people the benefit of the doubt is on you; Not them. If you want to crucify every single person, for saying something in a less-than-eloquent manner, then you're going to live in a very sad, angry, and lonely, space, in your head.
The statement was about whether the parents knew their son could be so awful; I see nothing about "they deserved it." It's a common question - "Were there any signs?"
You added the part about blaming the parents, in your head, in your assumption that the OP was malicious. The statement is not even REMOTELY close to asking a rape victim if they were wearing something which "attracted" rape. It's a valid question. It *could* be malicious, but you *assumed* it was. You jumped to attack-mode. You made the situation hostile.
You also need to learn that empathy is about understanding others' situations, without experiencing their pain, directly. It seems to be the case that you think people can only express empathy if they've gone through your exact situation. I hope you will consider avoiding personal attacks, by telling others they are unempathetic, and misdirecting by talking about your rape, just because someone disagrees with you.

But for the ones that does happen to… I just can’t imagine! I watched the film of that guy killing and dismembering the other guy (from don’t f*ck with cats on Netflix) and it literally messed with my head for a long time. I regret ever watching that!

@@lacilocicero3932 I know this is an old comment but I just discovered Stephanie recently so i just happened across your comment, but it’s so true that cops see so much more than most people realize. My husband has been a police officer for almost 20 years and we live in a really small town with very little violent crime and very very few murders, in his almost 20 years he’s worked just a few murders, one when we first started dating and a man beat his wife to death with a baseball bat and then jumped off of a bridge in front of my husband and his coworkers holding their 3yr old daughter, miraculously the 3yr old and the man survived but it was a case that my husband had nightmares about for months after and still occasionally has nightmares about. He’s also worked some really horrific car accidents that resulted in deaths, a few child abuse cases which bother him a lot, he actually buys toys and stuffed animals to keep in his cruiser to give to children when they have to work child abuse cases just to try to cheer the child up or distract them if they need a distraction from the situation their in. Last summer they worked an overdose case and it was a horrific site because a male and female couple had been in the middle of a sexual act and they both overdosed, they lived in a single wide mobile home with no air conditioning in the middle of 100 degree heat in the south, and they’d been dead a few days, it was a really disturbing site because of the act he was performing on her and then obviously when someone dies out bodies empty out, and with the heat and no air conditioning, it was more than most of the police and EMTs etc could handle. My husband has PTSD and anxiety and he has nightmares almost nightly and at least once a week he screams and thrashes in his sleep, sometimes springing from bed in a panic. He has nightmares that he gets shot, and nightmares about having to shoot someone, fortunately he and his coworkers have never had to shoot anyone and have only had to pull their gun on people just a handful of times in cases where someone pulls a gun on them or is holding a gun to their wives or children’s head, luckily that’s happened very, very infrequently in his almost 20 years on the job. Even in areas where there’s not a lot of violent crimes they still see some really disturbing things sometimes, and a lot of them don’t want to burden their families with the things they see, some are “too proud” to seek therapy or think they can handle it themselves, and sadly sometimes they take their own lives because they just can’t handle the things they’ve seen. It’s a difficult profession and sadly they get a lot of hate, and of course there’s bad eggs in the profession but thankfully in our small town they’re all actually really great men and women who love their job and love helping people and try to make a positive difference in people’s lives. I wish all police officers were as great as the men and women here in my small town. But thank you for recognizing that police officers often see some really traumatic things and that they’re human beings just like the rest of us! 💕

@@LuckyBadger Having a true psychopath as an ex (with him for 10 years and just thought he was a narcissist for the time I was with him) and having a mother that’s a psychologist, I tend to think that they don’t harm or target animals as much (I did have one cat pass away from very strange unexplained circumstances n he was the only one home at the time) because animals/pets can’t damage their egos, web of lies, house of cards, etc. I’m an empath and there are legit books out there on the toxicity of a relationship between empaths and narcissists/psychopaths. Psychopaths like to keep everyone separate because they pin each one against the others and it’s much easier to keep track of their lies. Like I never got to meet his friends really or even hear about them and this dude was living with me for years. He knew all of mine, as they dwindled away. His mother absolutely hated me and I know what kind of person I am and I had done nothing to deserve the hate, looking back I am sure he lied to his mom about me about who knows what to make sure she and I would never like each other. We are pawns in these ppl’s lives. He was the master charmer though, very good looking, very good at isolating me, I taught him how to dress well, and paid for all the clothes to boot. It would drive me crazy when we would be fighting and he could go into a store and charm/flirt with the cashier right in front of me and be in such a happy mood. That was how I started seeing how fake he could be, but to the outside world and just acquaintances, they would think the world of him. He never held a job for long, I never met anyone that had such a long list of jobs. He lasted 1.5 days at the only job he had in 2 years. He could be caught red handed doing something wrong and because of their nature, they literally make you question your own mind and never admit any guilt or wrongdoing. I haven’t talked to him since March but I have nightmares at least once a week with him in them. The similarities between my ex and this guy are insane when it comes to how hard they will work and do whatever to not work. He drained me financially, I lost my house, my cars, some of my pets, my career as an engineer. I live in my mom’s basement now. They wreck lives. Sorry for my long rant of my personal experience with a psychopath. I want to share my experience as much as possible to prevent others from letting them ruin your life. I think so poorly of myself now. I have no desire to date ever again. I hope things will get better, but they do damage to you that goes on far longer even if you have physically left them.
I should add that I think psychopaths work very hard to not do legitimate work because they absolutely can not stand to be bossed around, they have a superiority complex. They are above the rules.

Such as tuition rent GAS?! Insurance car payments etc. So even I do not know why theyve done this. I also do not know why he didnt worship the ground they walked on and yet he murdered them...that is what I really wonder about. I consider myself a spoiled child but make no mistake I love my parents unconditionally. If they couldnt stand my presence in their home ever again and never wanted to speak to me I'd still love them and want the best for them and definitely go out of my way to provide for them if I was ever honored to be called upon to do so. That is how I feel so I cant imagine what and why went on in this man childs brain.

@@Janellabelle My ex is a psychopath n he and his mother had an very unhealthy relationship. He is now 40, but just a year or two ago and the past ten I was with him, he used her (and me) as personal piggy banks. Psychopaths are very entitled people, the rules don’t apply to me kinda ppl. They believe everyone should hand them everything and they go to great lengths to not work (they don’t do well with being bosses around by a boss as they see themselves as better than the boss). I never want to victim shame, not one second, but I do see the similarity in the two mothers in regards to footing their very adult sons lives. Ex’s mom was known to let him borrow her car for the day, while she had to take a bus to and from work or get a ride from a coworker. And my ex would have lied and said he needed it for a job interview he didn’t have. N this was not a one or two time thing, it could go on for months on end. The only times he actually gave me the $ we had agreed upon when he moved into the house that I have now foreclosed on (mainly due to him taking me down financially) is the one or two months out of over 40 that his mom gave him the $ to give to me. I heard over the years that I could afford him, meanwhile I was refinancing and taking out equity loans, my 401k, etc. He wrecked my life. But that is the difference between just being a spoiled kid and a psychopath, these people think everyone should just hand them what they want, and they will work very very hard to not have a legitimate job.
