What rod bearings would you recommend for an 05 4.7? I've started to get a knock sometimes when accelerating but not always and also not across the entire rev range. I'm thinking it could be a the pickup tube sucking timing guide plastics at random times and starving the bearings, will have to wait until everything is disassembled to make sure though but I would like to buy the bearings beforehand.
I used the Clevites/Mahle in the video . I scored them on Ebay. They are the triple lined and I got em CHEAP. You could definitely use the bi-metal ones. Crank bearings I used were MS-2216P, but the bimetal are MS-2216A,,,You also need a new thrust washer set. Those are for standard size since my crank was fine. I have heard of people running the King bearings with no issues. Rod bearings should be CB-7844P. IF you resize rods you need different up sizes.
I'm having the same problem on my 04 grand cherokee. I replaced my bearings but failed to do the thrust washer. The click-clack is still there. That's why I'm here today. Do you have any insight? I'm going to go after the thrust washer today.
@@bozdivesin2728 Ayo what are the clearances for the connecting rods? At 5:32 you're showing the sheet but you zoom in in the section for the main bearings so I cant see the con rod stuff. Ended up tearing down my stuff today, found the little oil quart seal thingy wedged inside the oil pickup😭 There's definitely tiny shavings in there, hoping my rod bearings are messed up and not the main ones, I dont really feel like tearing the whole engine down. But if my rod bearings check out then its definitely main bearings and I have no choice then. All I did today was remove the oil pan/ gasket and pickup tube. Getting that oil pan off is a major PITA on my 4.7. That gaske got itself glued to the pan pretty badly and a couple other unexpected stuff slowed me down a lot... See if you can give me torque specs for oil pickup and the little screws for the oil pump itself. I might tear down all that timing shit to get to the oil pump so that there are no shavings left in the system.
Since the motor calls for bimetal bearings how are the trimetal bearings holding up? Also. Is the rod bearings supposed to be bimetal also or trimetal bearings?
