I install a Porsche Center Console Delete from the GT3 cars: it's lighter, increases leg room and make the cabin more roomy!
Weight saving: 1.34kg / 3.0lbs

thanks so much for the guide. just did this on my 996 and went like clockwork thanks to it. always nervous about plastics but these Porsche ones seem quite robust. i've not moved the heated seat switches yet; left them taped up for now until i read up on removing the main horseshoe and get some trim tools.

@@TheThrottleCable Yes that's right. And I'm not a hater of the 996 interior like some people, but that centre console was definitely not the prettiest bit of the interior! Happy to have it gone

Love this mod! Do you know how much room is between the carpet and the metal plate that is holding it in place? I would love to install the HVAC control there as I have a 2DIN radio, so no room left at the top. Any thoughts? Thanks!
There is a slight void behind the new carpet trim piece, I don’t know the exact size, but you might struggle to house the havc and cables in there. I’m not saying it’s impossible but i guess it would be by trial and error !

got a kit ordered for my new (to me) 996. the only difference i have is i need to remove heated seat switches - have you ever pulled any of those switches? is it easy or do they break?
hi Martin. Perosnally i've not needed to pop the switches out, but just remove the panel carrying the switches and unplug them from the rear. You can then release the tabs holding them

In the UK I bought it from design911 for convenience but I don’t expect it to be the cheapest! Main dealer parts counter is likely better value if you are near to one 👍
I'm confused about the center console delete the main part that is carpeted I can't find one on the website I think I did but it's almost $900 can you please send me a link to the correct carpet piece
How much extra room does this give you? Also, does the carpet come in different colours?
Lots! The carpet is available in all factory colours as I understand. You could just remove the console to see for yourself if you like the extra space before you buy the carpet section 👍
TheThrottleCable thanks 👍 I’ve not bought a 996 yet, I’ve heard mixed reports, from there being loads of room, to it’s tight, to the steering wheel restricts things! I’m 6”6 long in the body
Looking at getting one this week, hopefully. I’m hoping the tip may help as not having to move the old left peg so much!
Having now sat in one I could really do with the seat being an inch lower, any advice?
@@911TVR bucket seats. My 997 GT3 has carerra gt buckets and you sit noticeably lower. You could recreate that with some nice Recaro pole positions - which are on my wish list for the 996!
