The mounts press into/over the grills, so only about a couple of mm is taken by them - not the full thickness of the adapter. Other option is to cut up the old speakers and use the baskets as mounts. You should be able to get the depth of any speaker you’re looking at from its spec sheet to check the fitment before purchasing. I think quite a few have commented under the video what speakers they used too if you need some ideas.

It was a ‘Dansk Sports’, it sounded amazing and still doing a good job on the car after 10 years (my uncle still has the car!). I’ve seen the flexi hoses can give way but not in this case 👍

The important thing is the depth of the speaker, as long as you keep to the 45mm speaker depth you can use anything you want. Just look at the spec sheet of any given speaker to check the clearance before you buy 👍

I dont know the exact weight, but it's not 'weighted' as such. It's alloy so about the same weight as the [Porsche Tequipmnet varient

I have the stock woofers in the doors from the original sound package. It could be improved with a subwoofer but I don’t really want/need to go that far

Those little bitty Alpines have a surprising amount of low frequency sound down to the 100Hz region

It’s not going to ‘blow you mind’ if you’re an audiophile. To describe it, I feel like the sound quality has gone from ‘unacceptable’ to ‘good’. I’ve spent 1,000’s on car stereos in my youth and this setup is never going to touch that. However this is quite a bargain of an upgrade without detracting from the period correctness of the car. Updating the amp and door woofers would no doubt help,the addition of a subwoofer would compete it - I just have no plan to go that far as it stands now.

Did you get any instructions with the Connects2 wiring harness? I got the same one from design 911 but no instructions and struggling to work it out. I have the same amp and 99 car without fibre optic cables. Speaker upgrade sounds great already too

@@richardgrantham6603 I don’t remember it coming with instructions but you essentially marry up input and outputs. You might in fact find a drawing of the Porsche plug more useful - that should appear with a google search 👍

@@TheThrottleCable I ended up with a Sony head unit which has its own unique connection so had to get an iso connector which explains why nothing from the original adaptor seemed to fit 😁 all sorted now and sounds so much better. Well worth the money 👍

Damn. Well you need it of course to revert back to an airbag wheel. I actually bought a spare so I could use the plugs to make an airbag resister. They are readily available, I bought my spare from eBay. 👍

Yea I know its a dumb question 😅, was just thinking not a lot of electronics in the wheel now lol.. i found one on Ebay and will harvest for plugs found an airbag resistor so should be ok looking for the brass horn plate

I was going to leave the door speakers ‘as is’ as they seem to sound ok. If I hear a car with them changed and it’s a significant upgrade then maybe I will!

Looking to do mine. Not sure if go for B8,s Bilstin shocks as well as springs. Or just springs on my shocks. Just had mot shocks and not all good. Same me £1000. All I want really is just a little lower.

@@viperautovalet4479 a lot of the cost is in the labour, so just be sure your shocks are good before going to the effort of re-assembly. If the shocks are good they will perform well with the new springs.

Hi, the outgoing speakers are actually 4 ohms from the Porsche sound package - it’s likely the later Bose 2 ohms system you’re thinking of 👍

@@TheThrottleCable Actually, I've literally just been tearing the car down and am mid-way of installing the PCCM Plus, I took the front dash speaker out as part of the cable routing and noticed it's a 4ohm unit, that makes my life a *lot* easier, looks like I'll be following your guide even more closely after-all :) I also purchased one of the Bose rear parcel shelf bass boxes, which looks like it'll be possible to wire into this amp too, so hopefully this is going to sound great when it's finished! :)

You just unscrew the two hex bolts on the retaining brackets either side underneath the spoiler. Then you hinge the spoiler up to change the position of those same retaining brackets. The retaining brackets use an additional fastener only on their lowest setting position 1 (put that fastener somewhere safe if you’re moving to position 2 or 3). 👍

Sorry, I don’t have the answer; personally I’ve only used my helmet for karting or passenger rides in an enclosed cabin so it’s unnecessary for me. I thought the spoiler was just stuck on with double sided tape - is that not the case?
