  • For a long time, this OVA was my only knowledge of Fire Emblem. I thought it was going to be my next favorite fantasy anime series... obviously I was wrong. And I still know almost nothing about Fire Emblem : D

My youngest has been playing a lot of Fire Emblem games lately, so I showed him your review and he loved it. His older brother about lost it when the girls on the stairs in the shopping segment roared. This was a great video, and you're inspiring the next generation of anime fans.
I hope you're doing well and still making videos. I know you're probably a bit discouraged after your Robot Carnival video not getting more traction, but you do great work, and the plebians just don't deserve your genius.
Just thought you should know that you're still appreciated out here in cyberspace.
    😃👍

Thank you for the kind words! I made myself laugh pretty good with that segment while editing as well lol.
Yes, still making videos, working on one at the moment slowly. I don't mind the low viewer numbers - I don't really self-promote other than posting to the retro anime subreddit. I will continue making them for as long as I have fun doing it. Just been a little slow - had a lot going on with life lately.
      Always appreciate the kind words!

Thank you! Honestly, I don't really "promote" the videos, other than posting them on the retro anime subreddit. There are plenty of things you are "supposed" to do (constantly scream to like, subscribe, yada yada) but I always roll my eyes when youtubers do that. Not that it isn't smart - it is. So, I don't blame them. I just enjoy making the videos. I figure if people stumble on them and enjoy them, great! If not, I still had fun making them.

I was unlucky to be born after vhs so I never experienced the nostalgia of owning an anime on vhs

Soooo did you play fire emblem? How many games? or only engage or 3 houses you played? You Should do a video about it.

I have started to, yes. Although I wanted to get a feel for the origins of the series, so I started back with the original. I plan to jump around to some of the more popular and newer entries. Don't have a ton of time for gaming these days I'm afraid. But I am thinking of doing a video about my experience at some point.

You should take a look at the Fire Emblem games! All of them are very good! My favorite is the 4th one, Genealogy of the Holy War!

I have actually started playing them a little here and there when I have time. I was a big fan of the classic Shining Force series when I was a kid. So, Fire Emblem is right up my alley! Just tough finding time to actually play them lol

Great review. I really wish I would have held on to my old anime from back in the day, but I got rid of it all when I got married. It's been 20 years, and she's come around to the fact that I am still a nerd. 🤓
I actually just turned on my GameCube this morning and started a new Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance game. Weird coincidence. I've played a ton of the series, but they kept getting more and more weebish and cringey over the years. Three Houses seemed like a stalker simulator more than a tactical RPG. This new game just looks embarrassing.
I'm a big Shin Megami Tensei fan, so my favorite Fire Emblem was actually Tokyo Mirage Sessions. It wasn't what the fans wanted, but it's still a good game. If you aren't familiar with SMT, I can't recommend enough that you enjoy the enormous pile of WTF that is the Tokyo Revelations anime. It's much better than Digital Devil Story, and just loaded with weird stuff, while having probably the most talented dub cast in history. It's from the time period that you and I are more than familiar with.
Good work! This was fun. You've got some great editing skills, and it's always a joy to see one of your videos in my feed. Keep it up!
I'm going to pretend like I don't know what Cream Lemon is. 🤥

It's funny you say that. I had left most of my old VHS tapes behind. They were stored in my parents' basement for years and I didn't even realize they were there until about a year or so ago. So, if not for my parents, I would be in the same boat.
My girlfriend had the same realization, but she has re-discovered her love of anime (watched a lot of Sailor Moon back in the day). She is more into manga these days, but I knew I didn't have to hide the anime-nerd in me any longer lol.
I was a big fan of tactical RPGs when I was younger - mostly Shining Force and FF Tactics. So, I don't think I will have a hard time getting into the earlier Fire Emblem games. I agree that some of the newer titles might not be what I am looking for but I try to keep an open mind.
Never got into Shin Megami Tensei but I have been told about a million times that I should - hopefully I can find the time for it.
Thanks again for the kind words!

@@VansAnime Yeah, Shin Megami Tensei is a deep, deep pit of darkness. There's a lot to it that I would recommend skipping, but Tokyo Revelations is a must for an old school anime fan like you. It's just so weird and senseless, yet you just can't look away, like a train hitting a car full of clowns.
VHS tapes were awesome. I miss the stacks and stacks my roommate and I had bought second hand from anime shops in San Diego when I was in school after boot camp. You know you hit the big time when you had the bright orange Johnny Mnemonic VHS tape. DVDs and Blu-ray will never have that prestige.
The memories these old animes bring back are just so good. I really appreciate what you do. Keep it up man!

@@100Servings You had me at "a train hitting a car full of clowns" lol
Yeah, there is just something about the VHS tapes. Looking at them all lined up on a shelf. I appreciate the ease of access that digital and streaming provides but it just doesn't have that same feel.
