    Great review... best I've seen so far. Loved that you were not afraid to tell it like it is and I really liked that you methodically compared each category by category. Exactly what I was looking for. Now I'm going to look at your individual videos for these bikes for some more insight. Thanks.

    Thanks so much Travis for your reviews. You're the one who convinced me to get the Peleton. I ordered the Peleton Plus yesterday. Given that the old Peleton beat out the other two, the Peleton Plus will likely really blow them away.
    Before I ran into your videos, I was considering the Nordic Track S22i.
    I look forward to your Peloton Plus review. I know you are recovering from your injury.

    Solid work Travis. I had been waiting for this review and you did not disappoint. Money isn’t the determining issue but the cage/clip in option is and that’s why the echelon is the bike for my family. We have my wife and I, plus 2 growing boys who are going to be riding in a year or so, and not having to have shoes for everyone is a huge factor, and saving some coin doesn’t hurt. Thanks for your work on this!

    First of all, let me say that your analysis and comparisons are excellent. Thank you so much. You absolutely have hit the nail on the head about Nordic Track! My experience with this bike has been a total nightmare! Broke down rather easily. Waiting for parts is taking forever. Very poor customer support. Would love to hear your opinion of the Bowflex Velacore as well! Keep up the great work!

      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад +2

      Thank you so much Selvy! Sorry to hear you had problems with your NordicTrack. Mine is still broke as well so I feel your pain! As far as the Velocore goes... it has been ordered! It looks like it is still roughly 6 weeks until delivery though but I will start working on a review as soon as I get it!

    Travis - just wanted to say thanks for all the help on picking a bike. I just starting riding at CycleBar in January and really was enjoying it - the COVID happened and it all came to a halt. I was hoping to get back to the gym but in Florida even after they reopened it wasn't the best option. I have never been a gym equipment at home person as I always think they turn into things to hang things on but when I knew I couldn't go back - I had to find another option.
    I came across your videos about 6 weeks ago and really appreciate the great breakdowns that you gave for all these bikes. I was lucky enough to find an Echelon Sport in stock at WM so I just bought it. But after a few classes with from the breakdowns you had, I realized the Peloton was what I really wanted. So I decided to order one and was lucky as it only took a few weeks to be delivered. One week of rides later and I have to agree with what you say - it comes with a cost but there is a difference - Echelon classes were good - but Peloton were a good step higher. I also really like the resistance breakdown from 0-100 opposed to 0-32 - I understand it just a different ratio but being able to add a couple as you do your ride is great. The quality of the bike is a great too - you get what you pay for and was a huge step up from Echelon's entry level bike (which I would expect it to be)
    So thanks for the breakdown and all the other videos on accessories and tips. It is appreciated!!
    Doug

      Thank you so much Doug! It always makes my day when I hear that my videos helped someone out. I also like it when my reviews seem to reflect what viewers experience and my opinions are not too far off! Everything you said I agree with. They might be small details but they are those small things that odd up for a better experience. So happy to hear your Peloton came in quick and you are loving it! Keep at it and thanks again!

    Travis, this is an outstanding video comparison that I really wish you had done 6 months ago before I made a bike purchase! LOL!!! I purchased an I22 from Nordic Track, and love it, but I really wanted a Peloton. I got the I22 mainly because of a $400 cost savings at the time. Either way, I find myself using the Peloton app for some of my workouts because I like them better; and using the IFIT Workouts for the ‘road’ workouts. Thus far I have not had a negative experience with customer service, and God willing, I never will! Once again, great comparisons!

      Thank you so much Tee E! I actually planned to get this video out much earlier and was waiting for the S22i to get repaired but it never happened and I moved forward as is. So glad you liked it! Honestly, it sounds like you have a great setup. All the benefits of the iFit and scenic rides you get with the S22i but able to use Peloton when you feel like that. I like it! Glad to hear it has been a good setup and I hope it stays that way too!!!

    great information on 3 bikes. I like the features of the NordicTrack S22i with the outdoor rides and incline functionality. I'm a runner, so I've have the NordicTrack X22i for several years. For the most part, it's been a good piece of equipment. I've seen some things about NordicTrack similar to what you mentioned so I will take it out of the mix and look at Peloton and Echelon.

    Thank you for this review! I was 100% ready to buy a Nordictrack after testing out a friends a few times. Even though I had no intentions of buying a Peloton, I came across this video and you changed my mind. Five weeks in and I absolutely LOVE my Peloton. There is no comparison in the quality of instructors, and the workout that I get on the Peloton vs the iFit library on Nordictrack. The bike seat is considerably more comfortable (IMO), and I love the clip in shoes. No regrets with the Peloton!

      Nordictrack may be listening. They are offering a NEW s22i for 2022 with better saddle, hybrid clipless and cage pedals and better sound system. My s22i is still in the 30 day period and needed some software love to recognize HR monitor. It also is confused as to where level is on its incline system (when it says 0 degrees the bike is at -4 or -5 degrees). Customer support has been good, but they can only do so much with software issues. With such a high emphasis on software I would expect a better product and quality control so everything worked out of the box.

    Thank you so much for these eviews and comparisons. It was super helpful to us as we were deciding. We chose the Echelon 5S and are waiting for our ship date, hoping to have it by the end of the month, which will be a solid 5 weeks. We chose it because Peloton just isn’t in the budget, we aren’t invested in that platform either. The Echelon community seems pretty supportive and active (at least on Facebook) and between the two year app discount and the military pricing it was WAY less expensive than Peloton but more robust than other choices. We didn’t really want the incline/decline feature in the Nordictrack version and were nervous about the quality issues we’ve seen. So, fingers-crossed that we get the bike “built on a Wednesday” and our shipper doesn’t drop it on the way to our house.

    Amazing video! I liked and subscribed :) I also appreciate that you didn’t start the video with “please like and subscribe”, but that you started your review and about 3min into the video is when you mentioned that the videos take a long time to make and that we could really help you by pushing like button. Anyways, the bikes. I heard Peloton recently (May 2021) got rid of their old scenic routes completely, and replaced them with bad/boring/choppy guided scenic routes with no leaderboard. The extra downside is that the new guided rides can only be accessed with the more expensive monthly membership and can only be used while on the bike or treadmill (can’t be accessed on the app). I feel like they handled this poorly but as someone who is trying to decide between Nordictrack and Peloton, it makes me kinda want to choose Peloton. The scenic routes on the Nordictrack is so appealing to me but Peloton seems like a better option overall, and if they are making the effort to update their scenic rides then it would push them ahead of Nordictrack IMO. Have you tried the Peloton’s new scenic rides? What do you think?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  2 года назад +1

      Hello Mackenzie! Yeah, I don't think it's fair to tell people to like and subscribe before they have any idea if the content is good or not! 😀 So, you bring up good points about some people (Peloton Digital) being impacted and that is too bad. Makes me wonder where they are going with this. I have played with the new guided scenic rides and I like them. They are not as fluid as iFit and Peloton has some work to do make them end to end enjoyable, but it is a good start. Peloton being Peloton, I am sure if they want to, they can make those rides amazing. My concern is that since they launched the 3 new guided scenic rides, nothing else has came out. I want to see them build a large inventory of those rides and keep improving every video. As of right now, hard to say where they are going with this. ruclips.net/video/XkyjPU4Bq5U/видео.html

    I was a Peloton owner but sold and bought a Nordic Track S22i and have not looked back. I use to bike (centuries, tours, etc..) and do Spin classes in studio to train aerobically. Now older and I moved to a Peloton which is a quality product, great bike, great screen, ... its great at everything it does. But I wanted more control of of my workout... I wanted digital control not an inconsistent turn of the knob. As Travis points out NT does things the others don't which leads me to ride the NT 3x the Peloton and get a much better work out, the workout I choose: The iFit S22i ride videos from around the world are fantastic and very engaging so I look forward to riding more; you can follow the instructor for incline and resistance or you can choose your own incline and resistance... I tend to not "follow the insructor" setting my incline at 1.5% and then digitally targeting the resistance to the Watt output I want (225 watts ex.) or to reach a Heart Rate I want... 140BPM for 3mins for example. So I get the workout I want: 5x 4min @ 135bpm with 3 mins rest in between for example. This is all very simple with the timers and digital controls on the S22i while the scenery and instructor keep you engaged. The resistance can be controled by the up/down button or the touch screen jumping down from 22 (hard) to 8(easy).
    The integrated fan and front tray is great as well. I have experienced software glitches but NT seems active with updates and help as was Peloton. I do also use the ranking system to see how I perform against my peers M/W/All, Age Groups, Community Groups for Ride Avg Watts, Calories Burned, .. You can also compare against your past similar rides to see how much you have improved. The key take away for me is I'm USING this machine daily and it's helping me meet my fitness goals, Peloton wasn't.
    The S22i is Great Today and I look foward, with digital updates, to great future added functions.

    Excellent review Travis. I will second what you said about the fit of the Nordictrack s22i. We got ours a month ago and my wife and four kids love it. They range in height from 5’7” to 6’ tall. I am 6’3” tall with a little bit longer torso. Think torso length of someone who is 6’4” and legs of someone who is 6’2”. This bike does not fit me at all. When I raise up the seat height to were I need it, the seat is to far forward. I slid the seat as far back as it can go, which is not far, since it has only two inches of travel. I also moved the seat itself as far back as it could go on its rails and it is still two inches or so too close to the handlebars. If you are taller, like Travis mentioned, I would be cautious about getting one without somehow trying it out for fit first. The cycle is really heavy, 204 pounds, so if for whatever reason you can’t use it, returning it would take some effort.
    Other things worth noting. The family loves the outdoor rides more than the trainer led studio rides. If you have many people riding the same cycle as we do, raising and lowering the handlebars each time is a pain because of the weight of the big screen attached to the bars. Not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning.
    The handlebars and screen wobble a little bit when you are riding. The plastic sleeve on the bike frame that the handlebar post slides into is bigger than it should be. We get side to side rocking and front to back rocking even with the knob tightened as far as it will go. With normal riding it isn’t too bothersome, but if you are out of the saddle and really going at it, it will probably bother you.
    If you have multiple people using the bike, like we do, remember to switch to your profile on iFit before you get started on a ride. The first couple of weeks we had people “donating” workouts to other family members weekly totals because they forgot to switch over to their own profile. We would all laugh when we heard somebody screaming from the basement that they had just put an hours ride on somebody else’s profile.
    As you mentioned, the customer service is not the best. When I called the customer service number to talk about my issues with the bike, they transferred me to technical support. After being on hold for quite awhile, 20ish minutes, the person i talked to was nice enough but shouldn’t have been taking tech calls. The person didn’t know what a saddle was and didn’t know how the seat(saddle) connected to the seat post on their own product. I am not trying to bash them on this point, I just think that the technical expert should know more about their cycle than I do.
    Keep up the good work

    Great review! Thanks so much. I have been doing extensive research on the Peloton and the Echelon. I think, when people are in the fence, they go with the Peloton solely due to the status factor. You know, buying stuff you're not sure you want with money you don't quite have, to impress people you really don't like. That said, it is a solid bike. From what I can see though, and this may be due to Civid, pre-assembly has been shoddy in many cases and their customer service is so overwhelmed it borders on crappy right now. That could also be said of most of these companies. Covid has really stretched a lot of companies thin. In regards to Peloton though, I think they are having to pump our more bikes than they are are capable of. Especially when pumping out the original version as fast as possible before the Bike + came out. Lot of people were pissed that their 30 day trial expired over a month before they even received their bike and I'm sure peloton was not ignorant to this fact. I would be interested in some recent reviews on each companies Customer Service Departments and how they compare.

      I think you are right. All home gym equipment companies are being pushed to their limits right now. This shows in different ways but complaints about delivery, order delays, and customer support problems seem to have increased as a result. I don't have a way to create a good video on this because I don't have enough time in with each customer support. Wish I could though!

    The best review I’ve seen so far on my journey Travis! I had been leaning toward the Nordictrac and heard that some owners experienced a wobbling in the bike when riding hard. Your video is the first time I’ve heard about the other quality issues. I have a question in regards to something different. I live in a rural area where data speeds can be intermittent. Which bike would I be happiest with assuming a completely offline experience?

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. If you are going to be offline, I would stay away from any of the "connected fitness" options. So the attached monitor bikes. Not because they are bad, but a large part of their premium price is the attached monitor and the content you can get through it which you would not be taking advantage of. I have not tested this bike myself, but in that price range is the M3i. People say really good things and it is a premium bike. There are obviously a lot of options at lower price points, but near that S22i price point is this bike. amzn.to/3peslna
      Hope that helps!

    You do a very good job with these spin bike reviews, Travis (and that's coming from someone who is not easy to please)! A head-to-head comparison of three complex machines, across half a dozen feature categories, and all in 17 minutes is pretty damn impressive. (I've watched other reviews that went on longer than that for a single bike, and didn't cover as much ground.)
    That said, and contrary to your comment at 11:22, do seem to be a Peleton guy. (Not that that's a bad thing, but you say as much in the title of your June review of the Nordictrack S22i.) 😃 This is not a big deal for me, because I recognize we all have implicit biases that unconsciously shape our opinions and attitudes. The Peleton is well beyond my financial reach, and so I will likely purchase the Schwinn IC4, once I can pull the money together, because that seems to have the best combination of features I want, build quality and price. I just wanted you to know I very much appreciate all the hard work you put into your reviews. Thank you, and stay safe!

      S Rowe! This is one of those comments that I will hang on to! Honestly, I have worked hard to improve on so many fronts of the RUclips creation process and your comment touches on many things I have put a lot of focus on. So thank you for your comments. Seriously, it means a lot!
      Haha! You may have me on the Peloton thing! At heart I am a Peloton guy or at least I think they are best, but that doesn't mean they are the only option or the best option for everyone. So I guess what I meant was that I was trying to be as unbiased as possible and just share information. But you got me there! 😀
      Glad to hear you have narrowed down the right bike for you! The IC4 is a good one! Thanks again and you stay safe as well!

      I’ve seen people use the Schwinn IC4 along with the digital membership of Peloton. You probably already know about that, but just in case. I’m pretty impressed with the Peloton app and the monthly fee is a fraction of the bike membership fee. Also, I just noticed that Best Buy is offering $200 off the Schwinn IC4 right now. Who knew Best Buy has spin bikes?? ;)

    Really appreciate your honest reviews! Based on the above video (among other factors) decided to go with Peloton. Not sure if you have been following Peloton lately, but the customer service has been terrible. Repeated cancelled deliveries, no follow up from Peloton. Overpromising and under-delivering. While it's great that they're making some big acquisitions, sadly they are dropping the ball with actual customers, delivery and support.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад

      Thanks! Yeah.... but to be honest, I am seeing that from a majority of home fitness companies. What I have noticed is that COVID-19 caused a ton of people to purchase home gym equipment. It has also made it hard to manufacture the equipment, deliver it, and staff a support center because of employee shortages and special handling due to COVID procedures. You pair this with a sudden and dramatic increase in sales and you have a recipe for disaster. They just can't keep up. Not defending Peloton at all, but I am seeing negative experiences increase across the board. Regardless, hope you get yours quickly, without issue, and love it!

    This is a great video, thank you for doing it. I just got my Peloton a few days ago and I’m happy to say that my family is all very happy with it. Just a note: you can buy clip in toe cages for the peloton, you have to call them as it’s not on their website but I already sent them back. Since they clip in they are incredibly difficult to clip out because your shoe slides around in the cage, then you use your hands and next you know you’re bleeding- ouch! I can’t say I recommend that. I too wish they had double sided pedals, maybe we’ll switch them someday but for now we’re just getting everyone clipless shoes. I watched most of your videos before I bought my bike, so thank you!!

    One advantage of the Nordic Track (from what I have seen on other reviews) is that the resistance is set automatically via the training ride. With the Peloton the rider has to change the resistance themselves using the knob. This (for me) is a huge benefit that should be mentioned in this kind of review. Otherwise very good video. I was not aware of the quality issues with the Nordic Track. It is a bit worrying as I want to buy the NT for my wife for her birthday. She would love the scenic routes.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Dirk! You are right about that being a great feature. I think I mentioned it in the original review but not this comparison. I also did not give the swivel monitor enough credit as that is a great nice feature for variety. Thanks for the review! I was actually leaning towards the NordicTrack, but after your review I think the Peloton is now my choice. Biggest reason was the one you pointed out as a tall guy - knees being close to the handlebars! I have a NordicTrack recumbent bike that I'm selling because of this problem. I'm 6'1" with long legs and I always feel like my knees are going to smack the handlebars and that makes for a very unpleasant ride. SO glad you touched on this topic because I was hoping that this wouldn't be an issue with any of these bikes and this is a HUGE factor for me in picking a bike I will be happy with long-term. I’ve had my Peloton bike for almost 4 years and 700 rides. The user interface keeps getting better. Lots of new instructors and ride options. All the new classes for strength, yoga and outdoor running have been a great add. Bike quality has been great - no issues at all. Only complaint was the Peloton HRM - I’d pass on it and het a Scosche. Pretty thorough eval but I say stick with the leader. Ride on.

      Hi LearnwithTravis - great review! Hi Shree - glad you see your input. Four years? Awesome to read - did you extend any warranty or maintenance contract w Peleton? Do you think there is a need to? I have an appointment this week at the Peleton store to try the bike and I’m pretty sure I’ll pull the trigger on the bike+ so thank you for any suggestions :)

She asked me to use hers but I hear there is a limit to how many times a referral code can be used). I've always enjoyed your reviews, Travis. I just cancelled my MYX bike - ordered it 12 weeks ago and it is still not here - a new company with little customer support and no phone number contact, I will look elsewhere. I like the iFit, but not sure about the NordicTrack bike. ProForm has a bike with iFit, but only with a 10" screen. Maybe Stryde will excite me - look forward to your review. Good luck getting a MYX bike.

      Thanks Irena! That is a bummer. I have had my order for the MYX in for a while now and figured it was coming soon. Guess not! I hope you are able to find the right bike for you! Good luck!

    I just got my Peleton bike and I am loving it. I got extremely lucky and got it delivered in 2 DAYS after ordering it.. I live in San Diego so I’m not sure if my location is the reason why I got it so quickly (idk if theres a Peleton factory nearby or anything) but customer service was great and delivery was awesome.

    I’ve been using the peloton app with a lifefitness IC6 at my gym. I love that bike, but it’s like $2500+. I almost bought a used peloton from a friend, but I stumbled on some videos about the Echelon, and the EX-3 is now $599 and the EX-5 is $999. I know id need a phone or tablet for the 3, but I have several tablets, one with the 12” screen, and I wouldn’t have to worry about their tablet going bad, although that doesn’t seem to be an issue. I’ve also been looking at the Diamondback 1260, it seems very similar to the IC6. The important thing is I can physically try a peloton and the echelon in person, which I’m going to do this week. Thank you for the excellent review. It’s going to be tough to beat the price of the echelon, and I can pick it up in person, so no shipping. So many choices now days lol. Great review!

    Great review Travis, we went through 1 cheap and 1 mid range bikes before returning them back due to build quality issues. Thanks to you we have shortlisted our next bike to a Peloton + (the cost is the issue), the S22i (the build quality in question) and the Matrix CXP. Can you do a review on the CXP please, I know it doesnt have a tablet screen but you can hook up a tablet mount and download an app from playstore just as easy because I think the build quality may outshine the others, Your review will help us decide, many thanks

    Thank You Travis, great comparison. Although very detailed I missed one thing: The monthly fees. They are significant and differ a lot. Nordictrack charges 399 Euro per year for a family with first Year included in the price, Peloton charges 828 Euro as per their Website (69 Euro per month) for a family. I seems there are cheaper options available for one user, but in any case this costs should be determined upfront and be part of the buying decision.

    • @Learnwithtravis

      Very true and a significant part of the purchase decision. I don't usually get into pricing numbers because 1 - they are easy to look up and 2 - they can change and then the video would be misleading. The Velocore and Stryde make for really good monthly subscription fee options too if you have not looked into those! 😀 Thanks Rainer!

      @@Learnwithtravis Thank You for the hint with Velocore and Stryde, Travis. Currently I have not really a purchase plan, but its interesting to see what is possible today. Might be an option for next winter, now I am looking forward to bike outside in real world. Greetings from Switzerland! Rainer

    I wish there were more recent reviews about the Nordic track bike. We’re looking at purchasing it but all of the videos on RUclips are for the older versions. It’s my understanding that with a newer version that came out in January 2021 a lot of these problems have been resolved.

    Solid review. I went with the nordictrack S22i. I think it’s a fabulous bike, I have had no issues and I love the scenic rides. But if you want studio spin classes I think Peloton is probably better. If not Nordictrack is better. I personally have had no quality issues and my software isn’t an issue, but I have heard some complaints. As long as I continue to have no issues, I will have no regrets. But I think they really need to work on support (based on comments I have heard on the Facebook pages) and it’s a valid point. I bought my bike at a third party retailer.

      Thank you and great to hear! I am very interested to see how the comments balance out between people with good experiences versus bad with the S22i. Very happy to hear you are loving it and it has worked out so well!

    • @TheLauren1113

      LearnWithTravis my guess (based on the Facebook boards I am on dedicated to the nordictrack bike) is that the vast majority of people have a great experience but those who don’t have a REALLY bad experience. That minority is vocal. I think other brands also have QC issues-I have heard many, especially with the Peloton tread for example-but my sense is that customer service with Nordictrack is not good when there is a significant issue. I have heard that it’s better to reach out to them on Facebook messenger vs call them.

    • @Learnwithtravis
      @Learnwithtravis  4 года назад

      You could be on to something and that might be why people are more vocal. If you have an issue with a Peloton they generally fix it without too much fuss so you have a relatively satisfied customer. If a NordicTrack person with a problematic bike has to go through hell to get it fixed, they are going to be more vocal because of how they felt they were treated. (Which to me shows that NordicTrack has some work to do because that is not right) Great point!
