Hey Micah, great video as always! There are a number of things that could have caused that maple tree you cut down to start dying like that, so I can't really give a definitive answer on what caused it; it could be anything from root rot fungal infections to water polluted with chemicals. What I do know is that tree-bore insects took advantage of the tree's weak state to burrow into it, such as carpenter bees, wood-bore beetles, etc. Some woodpeckers probably got into it as well. That's what all of those holes were from!

I showed my friend a great secret spot I always pulled in big trout from, and he caught a 5lb trout, it had a gardener snake in the stomach, and other fish and stuff. Good time in Idaho in the early 80s :)
