What an amazing interpretation by this amazing pianist. It's so sad to hear that he passed away. I was only introduced to him a couple of weeks ago and starting listening to his incredible recordings and then to wake up in the morning and hear that he had died. RIP maestro.
Dezső Ranki is the twin brother of Zoltán Kocsis, the trio twins .. András Schiff, Dezső Ranki .. always in threes..with Zoltán Kocsis + always at the piano .. with a lot of practice together..they always stay together! They are the great pianists of our world
Hehe, Bruce Lee :-) yes, Zoltan always had this hair as long as I remember since I was little (grew up in Budapest) - and was just as accomplished and composed - a BORN pianist .. who obviously brought much knowledge into this current lifetime .. the type who already sounds refined at a young age.. a machine of perfection ..
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but at the start of the 5th page where the tune goes into a minor key, there is a turn on the note c, and the note after the turn is a Dflat. Should I play a Dflat in the turn or not? I think it sounded like he played it as a Dflat in the turn in the video. Thanks
L'interprète joue Andante la seconde moitié du premier Adagio et je le comprends... Zocsis plays Andante the second half of the first Adagio and I understand him.
@Esmeraldaviolin: Yes, I hope to post the D. 960 soon. A great recital, and an almost-great DVD that's let down a little by audio problems. I've tried to improve the audio a bit, but as you will notice there's still an annoying distortion at higher volumes. Unfortunately the distortion seems to be mastered into both audio tracks on my copy of the DVD. Thanks for your comment, and best regards, G.W.
Beethoven was the last great flowering of the Classical era who took us into the Romantic era, as did Schubert. Some of Mozart's last works began this journey already, such as this fantasia or the "Sturm und Drang" of the Symphony in g minor...

Yes beautiful but I prefer the orchestral version of this work:

one of the best performance I've seen..
In addition to his incredible musicality and sensitivity, he possesses one of the biggest techniques among super virtuosi.
,
Köszönöm 🌹
It's a wonderful performance by the way. Thanks for posting!
such a wonderful play....
A remarkable performance of this remarkable composition!
I really like this pianist; one of my favourites. His Rachmaninov concerti are splendid.
Loving the Beethovenian approach to this fantasy.

My favourite piece.
Excellent
Brilliant! Warm regards from Brazil!
Essential romanticism *before* romanticism.
Mozart can take it!
Marvelous!

5:32 как за 35 секунд прийти от Шопена к Бетховену? Моцарт расскажет!
very good
Kocsis et Mozart...divin
Excellent!
Mi más sentido adiós, Zoltan. Ha sido una verdadera pena.

sorry I'm bad at this stuff I'm only eleven :)
Yes play the Db.
Yes you should
Oliver Clandestine
Don't kill me, but i'd like if he were a little bit slower...specially at 8:44, my favorite part...too fast
Zocsis = Zoltán Kocsis
9:42-9:51 i think is the best part of the song
that Beethoven hairstyle
Yes XD
That Beethoven playing style too !

do you know what he played for Encore?
8:43 10:00
what do you mean?
Does anyone else think the beginning sounds much more like Beethoven than Mozart?
Yes, probably all of us think that!
Buenísimo!!!
odavan immár, odavan.
REST IN PEACE IN THE GOOD COMPANY OF ANGELS AND MUSES
R.I.P.
GWM: the two composers are not that far apart anyway. The early Beethoven sonatas sound rather classical.

Not bad
Hello! I'm 14 and I play this piece = than he. I'm younger than he!
Michele Pellegrino Who cares? Not that the point. Punk.
Michele Pellegrino If you`are going to dream...dream big.
+Michele Pellegrino *I'm younger than him
Too fast and not enough feeling/expression. Yet another personal opinion.
he might as well just play with his elbow
Too many pauses that break the flow. Annoying piece of music.
You are annoying.
No don't know anything about music, do you?!
terrible - too slow for my taste
+Scott M You don't have musical taste then.
+Gusty17 exactly right
