So well thought-out a performance, Arrau manages to assemble a brilliantly coherent conception of this work of storm and pastorale genius, actually an opera for the keyboard, with overture, arias, recitativos and a tragic and hopeful coda. The performance is slow at times, methodical, and yet romantic, but totally in character, so it feels. Lavishing tenderness on this fragmented work, each new idea is anticipated and then realized explicitly. Though a master of preconception, he plays with spontaneity. Thoroughly familiar with the architecture of the piece and the period, Arrau renders a classic interpretation that at every moment reveals something new as it builds to the climax.
For me it's the other way round: I don't like this performance that much but I adore this Fantasy by W. A. Mozart! I think it's the best Fantasy ever written for piano solo! :P It's not dramatic enough. Listen to Friedrich Gulda (best IMHO)! :D

Прекрасное исполнение! Очень люблю исполнение Аррау.
This was played by River Phoenix for his audition in "Running on Empty".

A great performance of a piece I do not especially like.
