  • In this video, I walk you through the final evolution of our 4th grade weekly work flow and then show you how it will change going into the 5th grade so that Morgan can feel and be more independent from me while still having me always near for assistance and guidance. #homeschooling #5thgrade #4thgrade

This was helpful! I feel like there are so few homeschoolers like you on YT. It's nice to see someone who is so in tune with their child's needs academically (and I'm sure emotionally as well). I appreciate how seriously and thoughtfully you take the job of educating your daughter.
I have three school aged children and a toddler. Our read aloud times have had to move to the evenings when our little guy is asleep. In the past we've done SOTW, but I've shelved it for lack of time. I will definitely be adding it in once a week in the evenings now. That's a great suggestion.

Thank you so much for your comment. It makes me really happy to hear that I gave someone a helpful idea. I came to it because when we read SOTW, Morgan is usually laying down or under a blanket with a snack anyway and the thought popped in my head that this is just like evening reading. And the books are fun, aren't they? Thank you for watching!

This was super interesting. We are also going from 4th to 5th grade and I have been thinking seriously how to let my daughter have more independence and autonomy in her school day, I'm going to take a look at our plan for next year and see how we can organize our weeks to support that.

I'm going to have a video before the end of the school year showing Morgan's planner that I made her that will give her even more autonomy over her mornings. Watch out for that one!

Looks awesome! I am loving your content. Are you willing to do a homeschool budget video? I am setting up our upcoming year so all of these road maps are helpful.

A budget video is a really nice idea... probably titled, "How to blow your budget out of the water like I did" lol Well... it's more expensive than public school and cheaper than Hogwarts! I need to put this on the list. Thanks - and thanks for watching!

I noticed you didn't include music, is she continuing with flute class?

Oh gosh, I didn't talk about that. Morgan will be in our school's band in town. Because she already started on the flute, the band teacher said she would mark her down as a guaranteed flute player... or is it flautist? And then I suppose practice will be up to Morgan in the evenings. We have a Udemy program for now because the band teacher got too busy for lessons. I am kicking myself that I quit playing in college AND gave away both of my flutes. The one we are renting is so expensive and pretty low grade. Seems instruments have tripled in cost. I'm glad she didn't want the tuba.
