I hope you continue with your YT channel. You are a natural and have so much to offer homeschool families. I have homeschooled for over 22 years and love to watch your videos - so inspirational and insightful. Thank you for taking your time to share with all of us:)
Homeschooling the last child, especially if the age gap in large, does feel like homeschooling a singleton. Our caboose just turned 10, and his closest in age sibling graduated 2 years ago. It's definitely been an adjustment for him and for me. While they did have a large age gap, I still taught several subjects family style, like history, science and geography because they both enjoyed and benefited from it. Last year was my youngest's first year schooling alone, and it was really hard on him! He has always required someone to be by his side 24/7, truly from birth. It can be a bit exhausting at times. I'm learning to push him to be more independent more and more each year, but still can't leave the room he's working in for more than 10 minutes without him coming to find me.😅 I can also relate to the whole Teacher's Guide debacle. I really like how ABeka breaks up their Arithmetic material. They have lesson plans for the teacher and a separate key. I have only bought the key for the past couple of years. We switched from BJU Math. I found it to be thorough, but a much slower pace than ABeka or Saxon. I bought the TG for BJU Math 3 and rarely used the lesson plans, especially since BJU is still written for classroom use, it just seemed to not work most of the time. I taught strictly from the worktext 95% of that year. I'm really intrigued by the Bible study you showed. I will definitely be checking that one out. Thanks for sharing!
Can relate to a lot of this~ we'll have one child left in homeschooling 2 years from now. I know it will be a strange adjustment for us both! Please download free samples of the Bible studies at www.4onemore.com/samples
❤This is fun to watch. I taught middle school for years and transitioning to homeschool (elementary) now. I miss middle school as it’s such a fun time 🎉
Love your choices, thanks for sharing them. I didn’t realize you had Bible study curriculum. I will be looking into that for sure. This coming school year I have one graduate, a 9th grader, a 6th grader, and a preschooler.
I need to do a video on this for sure. It's a great question. I send people over to Debra at NotebookingPages.com because she has a FREE QuickStart guide all about notebooking which is way more detailed than I could give you for sure! Here's my referral link: 4onemore.com/notebooking
Love your choices and the reasoning behind them. Have you used the cooking class book before. can you do a flip through and maybe how you plan to use it?
I will definitely do a follow-up video after we've had a chance to dig into the cooking class book and use it with Guest Hollow Jr. Geography & Cultures. I think we'll just make recipes to correspond to the country we're studying.
For AAS...do you feel like a 5th grader could jump in at Level 5? Or would they need to start at the first level to build on? My son is an excellent reader but not a great speller. I'm going back and forth between AAS or going back thru our Phonics program which is Logic of English (similar to All About Reading). Great recs!
Your 5th grader MIGHT be able to jump in at level 5, but AAS does have a free placement test just to be sure! We've always started a bit behind what we perceive their current spelling level to be just to get a solid foundation (if they didn't already start in level 1). We tried so many spelling resources before landing on AAS for all 5 kids~! Even our dyslexic child did well with this.
My daughter is the same age as yours and has read the Harry Potter series over and over and over…what other series has your daughter enjoyed? I wish I could find something she loves just as much.

thanks for taking the time to leave such an encouraging comment!
Yes! I have 7 kids that all learn so differently. I’ve had to change more than I ever thought I would.
It's so good to be able to be flexible when homeschooling. That was something that I didn't learn right away ;)

Definitely use the teacher's manual with BJU. I teach from it. I'm glad they have a buffet to choose from. Take what you need and leave the rest.
Yes, I love that we can all do what works best for us.

I taught middle school as well! Absolutely love teaching that age.

Wow, you have someone at every stage this year! You can see our Bible study samples and try them here: www.4onemore.com/samples Enjoy :)
Do you have any info on how to do notebooking instead of utilizing the workbooks?

We love Guest Hollow!
Oh that's so good to hear! We're pretty excited. Wish I would have known about them years ago.

Oh it's so fun to see them learn to love reading. She's just starting another series called The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer.
I too would enjoy hearing some of the other book series your daughter enjoyed.
I will check out The Land of Stories
