Awesome dunks but what impresses me most are those powerful and acrobatic dunks by these 5'7" Chinese dudes. A testament to discipline and dedication in their training. Height does not matter.
The dunks were amazing, but the main problem with this contests are the judges, who are not evaluating the performance on an objective scale (as they do, for example, in figure skating or synchronised swimming), but in a subjective scale.
Ever heard of a former pro dunker named Kadour Ziani? He's an Algerian-descent French who has founded the World Dunking Association. He wanted the sport of dunking to be standardized similarly to those 2 sports you mentioned.
What this competition is missing is a side-by-side line-up of the contestants. A picture is worth a thousand words. I'd like to see who has a height advantage. And, if the shorter guys are exceeding expectations, in spite of their physical disadvantage.
Wow! I am amazed by these guys. I can touch 8 feet with my feet flat on the ground, and I cannot jump high enough to even touch the rim. I used to be able to dunk, but I am 58. Jumping like that is an example of healthy vigorous youth. Amazing!
dunker gets a leverage boost from the ball grab - it's a tactical approach. still wildly athletic, but not as impressive as dunk where ball is controlled through entire process
Those were some great jams but still waiting on some 1 to do my specialty dunk the triple bounce. Hard off the floor and off the backboard and then off the back of the rim catch with 2 hands and flush🏀🏀no run🏀
During competition is very hard if you intend to trying to , definitely different from in situations you’re trying to to complete, chances are you can missed easier, every things timing got to be perfectly and execution, but , the referee giving them a hard time , is a different when you intend to do
I assume high jumps in which the dunker is highly focused on executing the dunk slightly leaving aside the landing ends up with slanted landing which hurts the joints immensely.
Loved your video. If you did not have to show this video we would not have seen this. Awesome dunks. These athletes are actually dunking and high jumping. Thanks for the video.
Already saw all these dunks before. I'm not a fan of having multiple people a dunker is jumping over and the tallest person is first. The rest of the people are shorter and it's the same as having no one there. I would be more impressive if the shortest person is first and the tallest is last in the line.
Instead of an NBA dunk contest every year during the All-Stars, the NBA should invite these amateur dunkers and have a dunk-off contest US vs. World. They don't have to worry about the pros being hurt, and it's entertaining-straight fire.
If all the NBA players are too uncoordinated or just too puss to participate in the dunk contest, then they need to just start bringing in good dunkers regardless of their league affiliation.Because there’s more than enough great dunkers out there that could actually put on a show and bring back some excitement to the contest. As of right now it’s dead and close to being cancelled all together,so why not?
Too many "jump over people dunks" should yield a lower score the more the dunker does them. I need to see that 360 Under Both Legs Dunk. Just the thought of that dunk makes me giggle, 😁😁. And I thought dunk contests were done for.
That's boring... People just so used to seeing tall dudes dunking. When short dudes do the impossible, trust me, people are more impressed and entertained. That's like saying a 7ft dude doing a dunk vs a 5'8 dude do the same dunk. Who do you think gets more rep?
If you are Chris Staples i didnt its not cool to look at judges and yell for 10s, puts them in a spot where i think if he doesn't yell that at them there would be some nines based on what scores other dunks were getting. Unless you going to judge him on a curve due to his age which is unfair
@@smoove2544 That makes what they’re doing a little less impressive. Use the NBA sized 🏀, not some \/\/NBA sized one. Dunks are easier with a smaller ball.
the first alley oop eastbay dunk is WAAAAAY better than the 2nd and 3rd over peoples. more power, more beautiful. I'm sick of those jumping over push dunks...

Crazy that Chris is still dunking lime this at 37! Great bounce from the Chinese fellas!
It's strange to see Chinese whose main athletics are Kung Fu and Kung Pao Chicken.
Landing correctly after dunking to avoid injuries is a skill by itself!
Yeah, the winner didn't really land nicely. It looked painful every time. Too straight.
The drop step 360 windmill was crazy lol

That split disqualifies him. 😂
Crouching tiger hidden dragon these Chinese can dunk ❤

I guess you must be jumping over a 12ft court.
Yeah, let them jump over Elephants

AINT NO WAY STAPLES MADE IT TO THE FINALS🤣
But he did. He showed up
@@lolo1973ful my ni66a ain’t the same ni66a he used to be when he was against kilganon or rivera. There’s new generation of dunkers man. New Era.

Regular size 9

Chris not getting the air he used to

much better than these day nba dunk contest

That chinee dude got some powerful dunks!
The guy in the red is hard to please
Chris knew he wasn’t supposed to advance, so he screamed at them to give him a 10😂😂😂
And it worked !
father time catching up on Staples..
do you think?maybe a little.at least he doesnt play basketball professionally so his body doesnt have wear and tear.
That scorpion dunk was the best.

I don't think US vs the World would be very fair. USA would have zero chance of winning.

5:00 His heel hit the guy's head. That should count for something when splitting hairs.
I agree with the new champion. The basketballs do look pretty small though than regulation basketballs
Those FIBA balls are smaller but supposedly the same weight as the regulation sized balls.
No look scorpion was my fav
What shoes is Staples wearing?
New Donovan Mitchell adidas
3:48 jordan kilganon dunk

If your target audience is Americans, you shouldn't use the metric system when describing distance.
