Clockwork - K'Nex Roller Coaster

- Опубликовано: 5 апр 2015
- My 15th K'nex roller coaster, featuring a hubless ferris wheel lift.
Music: "Where Civilization Once Lay" by Jeremiah Pena, one of my favorite composers. Check out more of his music at www.jeremiahpena.com
Clockwork was partly inspired by Round About at Freestyle Music Park. However, this one uses a hubless wheel, meaning that there's no axle in the center of the wheel. This let me weave the track through the center of the wheel, creating a very twisty and compact layout.
Construction took 4 weeks total. I automated the ride with a Lego Mindstorms NXT, just like all my other rides.
I could see this being a real ride easily. The name Clockwork is perfect. Give the coaster a gold/bronze and silver color scheme with steampunk theming. You could have effects of smoke or water sprays simulating steam being released. Make it like 150 feet tall with around 2000 to 2500 feet of track with 4 or so inversions. The compact nature of the Coaster could be perfect for an inside ride. Which would make the theming of the ride even more immersive.
U do realize how complex a coaster like this would be and how often it would break down
of corse the effects would end up being ignored by the park and stop working
@@jimskywaker4345 not quite how that would go. They'd try to keep it operating but eventually scrap it since it'd cost too much to maintain
Look up Maximum RPM at the Hard Rock park, a coaster like this does in fact exist!
@@SmileBullet were can you get this knex clockwork rollercoaster with 2 rollercoaster cars with 4 seats with 8 seats all toghther
The build. The music. The camera work. Yes, this is a definite 10/10 for me!
Same!
+Silvarret Hey, it's cool to see you here! I absolutely love your content and just wanted to say keep up the good work!
Hi! :D
The music by itself was fine but it was really unfitting for this video IMO. The coaster itself was great though.
it would be a 9/10 for me...
not enough tits
This is probably the most designed K’nex roller coaster I’ve ever seen.
*So will it be a ferris wheel or roller coaster?*
Engineer: Yes
so why are you not designing roller coasters for parks?
because toys are very different from the real thing.
oh lol
+Chris Cayford Because I haven't been hired by a roller coaster manufacturer... yet :P

Because park-goers would sue for the whiplash the initiator causes.

Excellent work, I had the original rollercoaster when I was a kid. Me and my brother were both super excited on the way to the toy shop, one of my best memories.
Bravo! Brilliant design. Perfect execution. It would be amazing to ride this in real life. A coaster like this would be EPIC! Nice job.
I stopped k'nex years ago, I clicked on your video randomly, but that was totally worth it.
You've been really imaginative on this coaster, the editing and music are awesome.
Thanks for sharing, and making me live a 2.20 min dream :D
Somebody put this in a museum.
Sadly not happening. You can make this at home with different knex set MMM.
But if you have the money.
This is the ride that started my coaster fascination. Thank you.

The mechanism is most definitely not safe enough, and judging by the amount of tracks intertwining the stress put on the joints would be enormous, therefore rendering it impossible
@@ronylouis0 chicken! Worried about some whiplash?
U should find a way to get a camera on there for pov
I coulda sworn they made a car with a camera in it...
Yes they did, but it's one of their current "micro" (or whatever they're called) trains.
Games James now this..this I like
Apparently there is a type of camera that can go in a screw
I think a camera would displace the weight weird or something
I wish I was as smart as this guy to make stuff like this. K'nex roller coasters were my life as a kid, but I'd never be able to come up with designs this insane. Major props.
this creation has inspired me in soo many ways. the music is probably my favorite as of rn. and the inovation that went into designing this coaster with the hubless ferris wheel lift is insane. also need to mention how smooth the track is and the actual ride controll system. huge props man, and keep on building coasters cause this is amazing

This Coaster in real would be fun to ride! :D
Hi
i know right
Alter was macht Techtastisch hier.
I agree
I believe it was inspired by the coaster originally called Maximum RPM at Hardrock Park (rcdb.com/3853.htm), or at least the unique carousel lift system.
Awesome work. I made k'nex roller coaster videos when I was a kid. 9 years ago! KnexCoasterDude was the name, but nothing I made (or anyone on RUclips making K'nex coasters at the time) was as cool as this! Great work. Awesome to see people still making coasters.
Saving this for my 11 yr old stepdaughter to watch...she loves building & designing these!! This is truly awesome!!
THIS A BEAUTIFUL PEACE OF ART AND IT IS AMAZING
Very creative and very well done, great job, I love it!
Hey, I had the purple one as a kid. Still one of my favorite toys ive ever had. Had the big Ferris wheel too.
5 years later the algorithm brought me back...
This should be in a museum.
oh my gosh so creative and detailed
This is the most fun looking kenex coaster ever!
Way to go! An absolute coaster genius! Very good job
I’m impressed that you included a station as well as block brakes
So smooth running... so you can say that this ride is running like clockwork...
MK3424 Toothless😍
It took me and my son 3 days to put a little rollercoaster together. And it had faults on it. So I tweaked it and it worked.
This is impressive. Bloody hell!
Didn't know Roller Coasters hardcore geeks existed until recently on RUclips but this is AWESOME! I want to build one and I'm binging Rollercoasters rides videos for days. There are really passionate people out there building up creative rides!
Ryan my dude, this is good but, you should design ACTUAL roller coasters. There’s a high chance you’d be one of the best designers.
Peaceful Serenity there’s no chance. Insane physics go with designing these. Building a coaster and designing a coaster are two entirely different things. He has some cool concepts, but if he were to make a coaster like this, it would most likely be considered unsafe. Plus, coaster designers work as a group. Just one person can’t design the whole thing. If this guy had the education, he would probably be a great designer, but reality just can’t allow it.
@@Oridemic uh you have no idea what kind of education this person has. sure, the qualifications to design a human-certified roller coaster are pretty rare so the probability of a given youtuber having them as low, but you can't state that shit as a certainty
Oridemic dude you’ve never met him
@@spambot7110 you can't ether
An artists dream is an architect's worst nightmare. This would probably be hell to build for people.
I like how you filmed it. Id say you nailed it and did a pre good job :D A+
This blows my mind! This is amazing! Both as someone who grew up building k'nex rollercoaster, and an avid rollercoaster designer on planet coaster, and a thrill seeker and rollercoaster junky...WOW! Iwas first and foremost impressed by the sheer talent it took to creat such a beautiful thing out of k'nex. A true masterpiece! But now I also want this ride to exist in real life so I can ride it! Hahaha! Keep it up!
Looks so cool with the big wheel in the middle. Also love the "Clockwork" sign.
This would be such a cool coaster in real life!
And then some!

What a insane creative roller coaster! And the title Clockwork is a good one to put in steampunk ages.😁
Beautiful work

It would be interesting to mount a Gforce meter in one of the cars, to see the forces a person would feel.
Business: so how much experience have you had making roller coasters?
Ryan:
I've always been intrigued by the ferris wheel lift style, I would love to see something like this built. Great theme, and I love the way it winds around the wheel, in an almost Jokers Jinx way.
it reminds me of the elevator for journey to atlantis. specifically that, idk why.
There are a couple of them, but to be honest, it's just more inefficient than a lift hill at most parks
True meaning of EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER 🥺💙
Very cool. I feel like adding some slow-mo would really take it up a notch. And if there was some way to get POV with slow-mo...man that would be cool!
Good job and I mean it
When I was in my early teens, I bought 6 sets of this coaster, at $100 each, it got expensive. My cousin bought 2. We put our 8 combined sets together to make a 10x6x8 coaster with 9 inversions in my backyard. In the end, it was just a standard coaster though, nothing with the intricacies like this one has. I'm extremely impressed with the ideas you have created with this one.
Is there a video? What happened to all the sets?
@@dirkclimenhaga7105 This was back in the early 2000s right when the Screamin Serpent set first came out. Unfortunately, through the years, they kind of all just vanished. And without an easy way to record video back then, we never had video.
Five stars, I've never felt so emotionally connected to the plight of a roller coaster.
I wonder if you could attach a tiny camera to the roller coaster
"Just looking at Clockwork makes me feel sick!"
That's awesome. Love the Ferris wheel type lift mechanism.
Why did this just make me so emotional. You are a genius.

Inspired by Maximum RPM/Round About at Freestyle Music Park?
Would assume so and just Premier in general.
That'd be such a sweet ride! Awesome build
This is incredible. Such a great job and I wish it was bigger so I could ride it. Great job!
I wish this were in slow motion, that way the ride wouldn't look as short.

Keep encouraging him to pursue it, because it's a very fun career :) And let me know if he has any questions about it as a job!
Dude that was awesome nice job building it
this is easily the best K’Nex coaster I’ve ever seen
Do you ever think that this could be a real coaster but with a few modifications ?
Maybe. The big issue is of course the wheel. on this version, the cart does not lock into the track, which would be needed. also a system to attach the track at the bottom and top or risk the carts falling off. These don't seem like they would be issues for long but this has no guarenteed payoff so I think few would take that risk. Overall though, this seems like one of the most likely things to become real though, so if someone wanted it enough I bet it could happen.
@@ijpg-fd7qn there already is something similar to your lift at Busch Gardens ruclips.net/video/T4bUqxAlZLE/видео.html
I think the larger issue is most of your inverting elements are very flat for the actual inverted part. Most roller coasters try to have a curve such that the centrifugal force plants keeps you in your seat.
elevator lift means a lot lower throughput and therefore longer lines and less profit, they aren't made often.
The tracks could be lined up with electro magnets
