There are no such dinosaurs in 'JP' as Velociraptors, they are Deinonychus and wildly exaggerated in size terms. But pack predators like them are too lightly built to take on a big powerful therapod which are hunters themselves. For heaven's sake an unarmoured herbivore like Tenontosaurus is a risky enough proposition and two-legged predators are less steady on their feet than a four legged herbivore, so that's where something like lion's today may have the edge in that when they fall/are knocked over, it won't always hurt so badly, plus they have grass to help break the fall and grass never existed in Mesozoic times.

Tough for raptors because of the SMALLER size that does not limit to the size comparison of T. rex and spino, and will be in need of packs. I'm a raptor fanatic, so I'll put my vote here - raptors can jump on huge prey and claw and bite, latching on and will need extra power to shake off. With the right moves, raptors can kill Spinosaurus, avoiding the elongated jaw.

It depends on the how much velociraptors there are in the pack. Even though velociraptors are strong the spino is too tanky and could swallow them whole

Come to think of it in real life with the Spinosaurus - putting aside who wins what fights - IF it lived today in Africa (putting constraints like food requirements, Oxygen levels, temperature aside) how would it fare against modern predators? Given surely we've read of David vs Goliath moments with smaller, lesser prey bravely standing up and surviving against bigger predators - so could modern predators like suppose a pride of lions, or a pack of big bears like Grizzlies or Kodiaks or Polar bears, a giant anaconda, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, cougars, honey badgers (no joke - given honey badgers are pretty strong and fearless), Bengal Tigers, crocodiles, JAWS (so a big Great White), hyaenas, wolves, or piranha's in a one-on-one fight - could they stand a chance to 'intimidate' a Spinosaurus or momentarily stand up to if necessary or odds are a Spinosaurus would not be so easily intimidated even by a group of modern day predators - and odds are a Spinosaurus could easily be dangerous to any modern predator that dares to try to challenge it? Or would the modern predators today have a chance in even surviving a fight with a Spinosaurus given if may not have the bite force of a Rexy or Giganotosaurus but could suppose a Bengal Tiger, Honey Badger or Lion have a chance of surviving a smack from the Spinosaurus arms or even a tackle/slamming? Interesting concept, but no, i dont think any modern day land predator could challenge a spinosaurus.
1. Spino's size, it was much larger then a african elephant, which even a pride of lions wont attack in most cases.
2. Intimadation, its size would mostly likely scare of most predators, including the honey badger( and those suckers are mean!). secondly, its roar and spine make it seem larger.
3. Power,It hunted fish 10 feet long, and it hunted smaller predators and the other herbivores of the time. so it would probeley do the same today. plus, its claws are large and would have to be powerful to hook a large fish. It could most likely hook a lion or bear, and use its 6 foot jaws to crush the spinal cord, a yummy meal if you ask me.

Yes - what I meant was also the fact you know how sometimes lesser prey animals bravely stood up against more powerful predators and survived (like an injured mongoose bravely fended off a lioness trying to stalk it despite having an injured leg, a squirrel fending off a snake, a monkey fighting against an Eagle or a Falcon, the honey badger fending off lions and even 3 metre pythons - not to mention not afraid of human beings... I've even read of an article of an Eagle momentarily 'blinding' a Grizzly before the pissed off bear swipes off the Eagle more than you could scream 'FEATHERS SHOO!' haha) - hmm ...
You know - not that I'm trolling or you'd care or you'd tell me to shut up already being a wetblanket pontificating BUT um ... I came to thinking a Rexy and a Giganotosaurus - people like to pit fantasy matches on these two big theropod brutes - and they argue Rexy had the bigger brain, more robust bulk, infectious bacteria-laced bite... and the huge 7-8 inch long 'knife edged bananas' to give it the 'edge' in hunting and a fight - but whilst Rexy's teeth being 'edged banana's designed for brute force punch work through flesh, fat and bones is one thing - a Giganotosaurus on the otherhand has 'steak knives' designed for the 'hack and slash' technique to shred flesh and let the prey bleed to death eventually - wouldn't the Giganotosaurus have the edge? Given well how else could a big dinosaur brute grow within the 10+ metre and up to the 10 tonne range eh? It surely must need some power and energy to still be a powerful hunter eh? So wouldn't a Giganotosaurus have the 'edge' where it doesn't need brute force but it just had to take powerful hack-slash techniques - and wait a bit for the prey to die and all the while it also surely has got to have an infectious bite (pretty sure dental hygiene was not a priority for theropod brutes in the Cretaceous Period!) and it still could get some chunks of flesh?

I then came to thinking other fellow youtubers explained to me how big theropod dinosaurs over the 10 metre and up to the 10 tonne range if one thinks about it - you surely need alot of food and territory to keep at that size eh? And the fact theropod brutes would have needed to endure a harsh and violent life since infancy due to disease, starvation, cannibalism from siblings/parents and territorial intra-species or inter-species conflicts so surely there's not point being big and powerful but having 'glass-cannon' durability in the Cretaceous period eh? So surely even a Spinosaurus would have been able to take in some nasty wounds that may be traumatic to many lesser creatures but survivable for a theropod dinosaur right? And if we see Allosaurus or Rexy bite marks on their fellow dinosaur jaws or broken but healed bones surely that indicates how theropods clearly were not 'glass cannons' of the Mesozoic in the first place!

You do KNOW that velocraptor was the size of a turkey...... They only get to the size you see in Jurassic Park because someone liked their name, but they were too small. So, for film, they made them like 5-8 times their actual size...
And seriously, where does it say velociraptors were smart, besides in Jurassic Park? EVERY animal back then was stupid. Ran on instinct. It saw, it tried to eat. Your average crocodile is SMARTER than any of these dinosaurs.

Velociraptors were significantly smarter, faster, ferocious and skilled land based hunters capable of taking down animals much larger than themselves.They were more advance and more developed than any spinosaurid as hunters and killers but the major problem is that they are about the size of turkeys. The raptors used on JP were more based on deinonychus.
Other than fish, spino might have eaten small dinosaurs if given the chance.

This entire concept is dumb. For one both dinosaurs are massively mistook in the Jurassic Park series. Secondly both dinosaurs lived millions of years and continents apart so they would NEVER meet. And finally Spinosaurus lived in water and was 4 leg-ed powerful bite and teeth designed to grab and rip flesh. Velociraptors, 2 feet tall = size of a chicken yes intelligent but would never beat a spinosaurus, Brute strength and power dominates in the dinosaur kingdom.

Yes but Jurassic Park is always making mistakes, in the same film, no deinonychus (not 'raptor'-they're birds of prey) is going to tackle a massive herd of huge duckbills when slow, defenceless humans are metres from them! Equally bad is the nonsense in the first film-the Gallimius herd would run those kids and Neill down, NOT go around them-what do they care, and those humans are in the way! And then, after the film going to huge lengths to bang on about the intelligence of what they call "raptors", after all the trouble of having them herd the human prey together in the lobby, it goes back to brute strength when the Tyannosaurus comes in and goes for them over the people. Er, no, wouldn't happen. And how is a heavy tyrannosaurid, whose tread you can hear thumping the ground miles away (the film shows this with a glass of water on a car dashboard much earlier), suddenly appearing ghost-like through several walls while they run into her-and then she lets them get away. Lousiest end to a movie in a long time.
You're right about the fight-Tyrannosaurus has more neck muscle and bite power than hardly any other land carnivore before or since, but be fair, the first two movies were all about him and those deinonychus (though never called it), they just wanted the emphasis on the other dino. That I can forgive, the other things I can't and don't, but worse is when the plant eaters never do anything to the humans. I also like that two predators fought rather than the usual meat-eater vs veggie like all the cavemen films do, and then it's usually a heavily slanted fight.

in reality a velociraptor is only about 6 feet long and 1 1\2 feet tall and fought more with protoceratops. a spinocaurus is a massive quadroped dinosaur that was bigger then any other carnivorous dinosaur ever found . a velocoraptor would never attempt an attack on a creature that massive, and even if we used the raptor deinonychus, what the Jurassic park raptors were based off of, there's just no way.

Well, the velociraptors from Jurassic Park were more likely deinonichus, not velociraptors. Having that cleared up, maybe it would take like 30 deinonichus (or more) to defeat a spinosaurus (if they re really so hungry they re willing to fight a spinosaurus to the death over a piece of meat).
Thank you, so lovely to hear people say this truth, I wish people at the time had written, emailed (though you probably couldn't do that in 1993) and made the makers aware just what a balls-up they made of the velo-thing. These dinos ARE Deinonychus, they're the ones whose name means "terrible claw", who were the first small theropod to have given many the notion that certain meat eaters would have had a group structure and packed together at certain times tackle something bigger they thought they could fell. REAL velociraptors are very small predators having to tolerate a desert environment, and not the leafy glades and floodplains that Deinonychus lived in. It was completely wrong of the idiotic 'Jurassic Park' makers to do this to present these dinos wrongly-and worse-to KEEP doing it! But then when do these types EVER admit they made a mistake!?
