I don't care what it is, a car, a cabin, a boat or yacht, or a piece of art. Do yourself a huge favour and have it inspected! It might cost a bit but it will help you know all the issues, good and bad with your purchase. An inspection also helps with everything from price negotiation to insurance once the sale is done, and finding an inspector that knows the business and can put your mind at ease once he or she is done, is like finding a pail full of gold!! Great video, not enough people show this step with the resale of big ticket items!! Well done!!!
One thing I love about your videos is that you explain things and narrate all the way through. Other people on their channels need to learn and practice that. On the other note. Boat surveys are huge. May cost some up front out of pocket but can save you much more in the end.
Nick being a ledgen, honest sea Captian buyers know they will get a fair deal. Wish you well with future sales, if I wanted to buy a boat, would prefer doing business with you. Amen
I just paid over $100K for a 5yr old boat that was unseen to me till the day I bought it. Tried to get a survey but no surveyor had the time to to accommodate me when I needed it to get done. The seller was 80 miles from the Canadian border and I live in California. This boat only had 85 hours on the clock and was stored covered. I opened the cabin door and it smelled brand new, just like opening the door of a brand new car. The prior owner special ordered it from the factory and just did not have the time to use it. I drove the 870 miles and took a sea trial on it, it ran perfect. The seller paid for a haul out and pressure washing then dropped it onto the trailer. I collected the maintenance records from the boat dealer across the street from the marina then towed it home. I have owned it for a month and a half and it has more road miles on it than on the water miles😆. I agree that 99% of the time that you should pay for a surveyor to go over boat you intend to purchase. I guess I was in the 1% of the time that it was not necessary. Congratulations to you and the new owner 🍻
Fantastic video!! Everyone should hire someone to inspect their boat before purchase! When you buy a house you have a home inspection. Bill knows what he is doing. You can tell because he is playing around with you while filming:P Congrats on the sale....congrats on the new boat! Grady's are good boats. Nick, you rock:)
Grady White's are excellent boats. I have had two a 24 ft center consol and a 28ft Sailfish and both were awesome boats. As long as you take care of them and do the proper maintenance they will last forever! Eduardo is gonna be very happy with this purchase. 😎👍👍
Nick my uncle just flew down your way today to come checkout the Ocean Master. You should do a seatrial video with that boat. Btw call him Shirley instead of Brian you should get a good reaction out of him. We hope to come down for a charter soon so until then tight lines and keep up with the great content!!
Guys please get a surveyor, especially, especially if it's your first boat. I'm a marine mechanic and have seen the worst of the worst. Trust me it's worth the extra cash.
@@heartofbrowardcounty142 depends on the size of the boat. I work on yachts at jarrett bay in NC, typically about a grand or so. But you need to do some research and find a good one. I've seen everything.
Because it's bullshit...The pinion gear is engaged to both gears in the gearcase, The starboard engine, right hand rotation, uses the front gear for forward, The port engine, left rotation, uses the rear gear as forward. The clutch dog on the propeller shaft engages the drive rotation...
Can't wait to see a bad survey video Nick. Nothing worse than when the surveyer and mechanic won't even leave the dock in a boat! I'm sure when that viking gets a contract you'll have both onboard and lots of tests done.
Do you recommend a survey for a new boat as well? I am currently waiting delivery of a Beneteau Antares 11. It is currently in Europe finishing up production. It should be leaving in the next few weeks. Hopefully I’ll accept delivery in January.
I didnt get one on the two new boats I’ve bought. New boats should go through a pretty extensive check list before they leave the factory, although there’s usually always something to fix

Not only can this help you decide if you should buy a particular boat but could also help with negotiating a price

That was a smart thing to do especially with that much money involved
Wow, nice to see your progress.
Nick, I would have thought your first boat sale would be to sell Captain Gilligan his first SS Minnow. Congrats on the sale!

Absolutely. When I bought my whaler two years ago I had it surveyed. I know so much about it since I did the survey that I wouldn't have ever known.

Faltering gets you everywhere. 😂
Great video captain nick
Grades are the best.
Great job nick👍🇧🇸
A boat is a hole in the water that you throw your money into. Oh and bring a surveyor that is not associated with the seller.
Oh and you make your money when you buy a boat, not when you sell a boat.
Unless you bought a Freeman the past 7 years*
Greatest video nick!!
You young stranz farm i think you were older than me we know each other Mike and me work long time ago big up youth
Congrats on your first sale and here's to many more!🍻🍻🍻

We are under contract in a boat. This is the most perfect timing I could’ve gotten for anything. 47’ riviera with twin cat C12s
