Up until recently, I still agreed that you should be a NRA member. But there's just been too much stuff come out. The tipping point for me was some news about the CEO blowing a ton of money on BS
Everybody has to make his own mind up on things, based on whatever "knowledge" he or she thinks is real and not agenda-driven. I've seen WAY too many organizations (Major companies, U.S. Military, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, etc.) that have enough warts to warrant less or no support; however, I'm selfish and practical enough that I'll overlook quite a lot if a company or organization is important enough and actually protects my freedom. I'm not ready to "throw out the baby with the bath water." We badly NEED a strong NRA, and I'm still confident the NRA will work out the internal politics and such, which do not necessarily affect at all the essential work the ILA does.
We need to improve the NRA, not write it off. Duh, why did we just not close down the U.S. Military when several years back we learned about how they were paying several hundred dollars for a hammer, as well as other scandals? Why? Because the mission is more important than the usual political crap that humans will always be guilty of, regardless of where they are.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
@@hickok45 Those are all good points, and to be fair I think drama like this will inevitably happen to any company when it gets big enough, not just the NRA. I will continue to support the ILA if nothing else
If you own a gun or in the least bit care about even minimal protection of 2nd amendment rights, you should be an NRA member period end of story. Dems will stop at nothing to chip away the 2nd amend till its repealed.
The media is using tactics to turn people against the NRA, and sadly it's working. Just look at this comment!
I am very good Nico will you up this on this before Puerto Rico
i have the 509 midsize i am absolutely in love with it. it is 100 percent reliable the midsize has the same controls as the tactical version and hes right it just feels like quality in your hand i have zero bad to say about it.
Ha,ha,ha, Hickok 45 Sir point of aim adjustment!! Almost had me on that. Good one
Lmao subtle humor
Imagine hickok going through security
"Sir, Im gonna need you to leave your weapon here with us"
Hickok: "weapon? As in Singular?"
Kinda like that scene from The matrix they're gonna be like holy shit
"Weapon?!? Aw man, come on! How will I smoke any pot!?!"
Class C and Above, emphasis on the above.
I run the FN509 tactical in FDE. With a vortex razor RDS. Runs like a champ no issues with it at all. Upgraded the trigger to the Apex trigger and its perfect now. The oem trigger is crisp and clean break but 7 plus lbs. The Apex is 5lb and shorter reset with a flat trigger.
Robs Koi Pond honestly everyone hates on the trigger but after a good 600 rounds (I’m not through a good 1,500) the stock trigger is so smooth. Smoother than my HK VP9. I love it!
@@johnathankim6721 not everyone hates it. It's very crisp and reset is positive I liked that. It's just how heavy it is. After over 1000 rounds and tons of dry fire it cleaned up a bit but was still 8lbs. That's too much in my opinion.
Always make sure you adjust your point of aim, I knew Hickok45 would never miss a cowboy
"One of my favorite polymer pistols..." From a guy that's been shooting Glocks, and kinda gushing over them over the last decade on RUclips :), but it sure does say a lot... Love the channel, and keep going guys.
I personally have an FNS 9C. Its beautiful, Came with a 17 round mag as am extra. Flawless with no problems. It's good for conceal carry when you have it equipped with standard 12 round mag. What i like about the extended 17 round mag is that when equipped, it sits comfortably in hand. Yeah I could have gone for the standard but the compact was a calling my name. Will be adding red beam on it.
Adjusting point of aim! Twist that aim adjustment knob! You’re awesome!
"Let me adjust the point of aim." Hahaha! What a goofball. Cracks me up.
Had me fooled!
I started looking through the comments like “now Ik this gotta some blinker fluid collecting the gas fumes type shit”😂🤣
Lol that was a good one
It's so cool when the camera picks up the bullet in mid air. It's cool to see.
Your first video sold me on the FN 509 I ended up purchasing one and I am thankful I did.
Justin Hopkins how do ya like it? I’ve seen some complaints about reliability any malfunctions yet?
@@user-cz3yk5qf7m Nothing! I've ran 3,000 rounds and haven't had a problem. . .
Bought the standard model in FDE/Black after seeing the first video as well. Absolutely love it.
Justin Hopkins how much did you pay?
@@brandonolson5545 little over 6 with taxes
Please guys please keep making more videos. I cannot tell how often i rely on you guys before making a decision.
I'm one of those who REALLY likes the FN509T I have a Trijicon RMR mounted on it. With the co-witness night sights, it's an awesome rig IMO.
I run FN as my EDC 90% of the time, I own 6 of them and run them a lot, 1000's of rounds without fail. I use them when giving classes, as well as again my EDC. Their 45 handles like a 9 so my wife likes to carry it. They've been around a long time but they don't do much advertising. A great firearm at a good price.
Are the firing pins really that weak
@@freznostate ..I emailed Fn about fire pins, they said the problem was isolated and was taken care of....They advice me not to dry fire with out snap caps... 🤣..so take that for what's it's worth..
Good info.
Own the standard 509... it's a great gun and you can feed it any ammo.
Great comparison , i have the full size . Looks , feels and shoots great. My first FN im really impressed with it .
PS90 and Scar-17 are also goodies, I have a five-seven as well, but going to sell it more than likely.
@@michigunsanta8680 Think RUclips restricts what you can talk about on their platform, but I have a website.
@@michigunsanta8680 doesn't have a good feeling in the hand, trigger isn't that great, safety isn't super positive and doesn't play nice with holsters, mags should be metal for sure, ammo cost for a round of this type in a form factor of this type are prohibitive. I love it in the PS90. Main reason though is because of the wide handle, it doesn't shoot as intuitively as my other platforms. My handguns of choice currently are the Walther PPQ 5" in 9mm, PPS M2, and the Colt 1911 .22. Many handguns (10 plus) have fell out of my rotation to get to those choices. I plan to add a CMMG .45 in for home defense with a GhostM, but I live in the sticks. I'm no longer a firearm collector, if it doesn't fit a niche need, it doesn't belong in the safe. Maybe you can open my eyes to other uses for it that justify keeping it, but it fills no need other than to maybe possibly defeat IIIA body armor, in which case, the scar and PS90 will shred that armor without paying $2.00/rd.
@@michigunsanta8680 1911 .22 with a DA mask HD and full copper 1235 FMJ runs subsonic and flawlessly, without lead depositing on your hands. The subs are great too though, and slightly more quiet. Just saying... +16-17rd mag follower/spring upgrades from taylor tactical. ;) Tell them I sent you, maybe they'll hook me up someday. heh
@@michigunsanta8680 that would be nice, but I find somehow unlikely. Can is a great purchase. I'm looking at the DA ghostM right now. They seem to have the highest quality stuff cans right now. Also interested in the OSS 762. I'd just get a can, lol. Number 1 purchase imo.
I just got the FN 509C yesterday, gotta day I’m loving the feel of it. Can’t wait to put some more rounds through it on Tuesday
Just got mine last week I love it
Around 5:24 Hickok rhetorically asks "...what if I just don't hit anything?" I love it when he says silly things like that. Thanks for the video, Hickok (and John!).
I picked up the 509 Tac last October. Put a Trijcon RMR and Inforce APL-c on it and it's the main home defense firearm. I've put close to 2000 rounds through it with zero malfunctions, went bang every time. Great gun!
FN = Quality
I heard things about the firing pin breaking
Got the tactical I can say not happy with the trigger its very gritty
Casey Watkins it gets better as you shoot it. The break on it is great tho.
@@Godzilla-lo8nv yeah I have a holosun 507 c green dot and a light I can one handed shoot a little metal plate 50 feet away pretty easily. Hope the trigger will loosen up i have shot a couple hundred rounds.
Casey Watkins Check our tactical toolbox’s video it’s called how to fix 509 grainy trigger or something like that it’s a simple fix that helps
Pretty "FN" cool Sir! LOL!!! Thanks for continuing your channel in the face of adversity from RUclips...
I'd like to see the 509 midsize next to the FNS 9C
Midsize is biggering bigger
fns 9c is next on my list
The 9C is a good size and reliable for conceal carry even with an extended 17 round mag equipped.
Get a Glock 19. That’s basically what you are working with on the mid size.
battousai07 A lot of people including myself have made changes to our Glocks to make them more like this FN 509. Added better stippling to the grip of the 19, replaced the slides for ones with groves for better grip and replaced the triggers or had work done on them. My new FN 509 midsize straight out the box addressed all the things I and many others have changed on our Glocks for less money than the modifications. I retired my Glock for the first time in 20yrs to the safe one week after getting my new 509 and it’s now become my everyday carry. Glock should be paying attention because FN is giving you more for your money straight out the box and the CZ P-10 and Sig 320 & 365 are no slouch either, that’s for sure.
I have a 509 Tactical with a Vortex Venom, which I often shoot with a Silencerco Omega 36M. The gun shoots great with or without the can. Thanks so much for all of your videos. I really enjoy them!
For the love of god can we clone this man. Never fails to deliver a quality video.
7:40 I can see the bullets hitting the buffalo. Awesome!!!
My next gun will be one of those. I've always liked them and I just noticed they are made right in my backyard. I forgot FN had a plant in Columbia, SC! I like my guns like I like my produce, Grown Local!!!!
Yes sir I really enjoy watching your videos, at the end of the day I would probably own a Glock 19, and M&P 2.0 compact, and the FNS 9 for sure!
Another objective concise video, with a twist of humor to boot. Appreciate your review to assist my choice for next firearm. Looking to upgrade to a mid-range 9mm
I have an FNS 9 compact and the FN 5.7. Both are excellent firearms. I carry the 5.7 off body (but handy) when going into Detroit, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and similar friendly cities. Shoots beautifully, 18 rounds. On body, occasionally carry the FNS 9; but I prefer the Walther PPQ m2 compact 9. I am lucky and not married, so I have a few choices. Stay alert and stay safe.
As always Hickok thank you soo much for the video and all the informative information sir!
I still love my PPQ's the best but I really like the Glock 45 and am looking to buy the 509 next. I wish Walther would come out with the same configuration. I hope all 3 companies expand this configuration into other calibers, especially the 45acp. I would buy all 3 brands, glock walther and FN
I also have Walther, FN, and Sig. Have never understood the appeal of Glock. My favorite is the Walther PPQ m2 9 compact. So many choices ... 😇
@@sjmiller6012 I haven't owned a Glock for quite some time but with the finger grooves gone and the g19 slide on a g17 frame I thought it might be time to buy another one. I hope the other manufacturers take note and do the same thing.
I have a ppq I think that the best polymer gun on the market, also the mp 2.0 4inch smith Wesson that another great gun and trigger..
I own them all... The ppq is the best stiker fire polymer gun made...The G 45 is the best shooting glock made...
this addiction is very expensive and nothing can treat it better than buying more guns.
Bank account: lmao
Tried the 509C (midsized) & 509 tactical. The tactical definitely feels slightly better but idk of $200-$300 more is worth it during these times.
Do you like the 509 9x19 ?
My primary carry is my original 509. I can't see a change in that anytime soon. Apex Tactical told me they will release a longslide for this gun in December. I'll just swap the slides when they do. Gr8 vid. 🔫
These 24 rd magazines fit so nicely in my FNS-9 too. Just picked up 4 of them.
Still going strong!! It’s always a joy to watch you throw lead down range
I can't lie you got me with the "point of aim" lmao
Great video, I’d love to see you get ahold of the 509 compact!
I own the 509 Tactical...great comparison review, but it was that table full of magazines that had me drooling. 😃😃😃
I always wear my thread protection. You never wanna end up shooting somewhere you dont mean to and cause permanent repercussions. ; )
I'm Belgian and those guns are designed just next to where I live... And we can't even have a peper spray at home in my country lol.
I like Belgian polymer almost as much as Belgian waffles
Hahaha, 7:10 who knew threaded protectors doubled as a tuning knob. Love this guy😎
I mentioned on your video of the midsize, that my Midsize has a more aggressive grip texture than my Standard or even my Tactical.
I really want to know more about the 509 compact and compact mrd
Put the 509 tactical slide on the midsize frame!
Only complaint I had with my 509 was It was a little big. Now there is the midsize so I will be getting it also
I really like this video: I have the 509 on my list; this really helps determine which flavor I'd like!
Watching Hickok45 Shoot is a joyous experience!!
If you’re in the market for pistol to run a red dot the 509 tactical is a wise choice. It has a kit that contains plates and O rings that go with the most popular red dots out there. Not everyone has 5 bills to drop on a red dot. The trigger is not great (apex soon) mags are a little pricy. I like it a lot great shooter no issues
Love by standard 509 for my nightstand gun. I don't carry it because it is too big for my liking, but it's my favorite by far!
i work for brinks we just got issued fn 509s going to shoot it for the first time tomm. morning ( we had mp 9 2.0s before )
His commentary while shooting is 10/10
i can always rely on Hickok to review something I want to purchase. It's pretty wild. also look at all the magazines on the table.
Looking at the 509 Tac as a lefty friendly suppressor host. Seems to be one of the very few on the market that's fully ambi and RDO ready out of the box
I love FN, the FNX-9 is tough also.
Okay, yeah, you had me for a second there with "Oh I know what's wrong, I forgot to adjust the point of aim." LOL!
Watching this a year late. FN has come out released the Compact version since then. Can't find much of anything on it. I'm looking into a subcompact CCW and interested in a comparison of the M&P 2.0 Subcompact, FN, CZ P-10C, Walther, HK, Canik varieties. They all are very similar, but are different at the same time. Can't put my hands on all of these models at gun shops.
You got me with the point of impact. I was just about to ask a buddy about that. Haha. Good thing I kept watching.
The only negative I have found with my 509 tactical is the very small selection of holsters and accessories.
Love the "point of aim adjustment"!!
Time to revisit this! There's a compact and a long slide addition now!
Hey hickok45 I love your channel and thank you for what you do. 1st I do own both the standard 509 and the tactical. I love them both but I did experience an unfortunate rare instance where the firing pin on my 509 broke. I do not understand how it broke just that it did break. My case might be an isolated incident but I just had to let you know. I can provide pictures of the firing pin. I have yet to contact fn about the pistol because I've been busy. I still love the firearm and I do not believe (but hope) this will happen again. I just wanted to let you know.
Get an Apex striker for the 509.
7:37 ish you can see the rounds on camera kinda cool
The company I work for just recently switched to making these our standard issue. Definitely a fan
I wish my guns had that point of aim fine tuning adjustment.
FN = best kept secret. Excellent pistols.
hondasaki900 I’ve only owned a 5.7. Two of them. Very nice pistols. Never owned a 509. Felt one tonight. Felt good. Might have to pick one up. Not that expensive.
@@J1Z06 They definitely come at a more premium price, but the premium shows in the features, handling, and operation.
I've never held a Glock product and thought "I need this in my life" but I have with nearly every FN product.
Just picked up the mid size FDE optic ready. And love it. Just wish I could shoot as good as him at shooting lol
I do like the FN handguns a good bit. I prefer the FNS to the 509 personally. The water/striker channel problem is a significant issue however.
Mrandher83 exactly. They don’t work when wet...big deal
@@gearbarrel6237 that's quite a deal....a pistol should work after simply being dunked in water...
Agreed, they need to figure the water issue out and fix it.
wdh 3007 have you ever heard of an accident..what if you drop it in water when you needed it...c’mon man use common sense
@7:40 you can see the bullet in normal speed so I slowed it down to 0.25 and you can see it clearly. Pretty dope never seen it
I based all my purchases off hickok45. Cant thank you enough.👍
This guy really twisted the thread protector to adjust the front sight. 😂🤣😂🤣 bruh this guy funny!
I have Sig, M&P, Glock, and FN. There's things I dig about all of them, but my Sigs are the only ones I haven't had to do any after market work to. Technically I didn't have to do anything to any of them, but trigger jobs, night sights, and strikers after I spent the money for the gun to give me a sense of it's functioning better, more reliable is why I dig Sig
except the first couple of years of the 365 having issues and the 320 accidentally discharging to the point entire police departments are getting rid of them
I have the FNX 40 and absolutely love it.
It's large in size but a very well built gun.
I use it for home defense and some stress relief at the range.
Thought about the 509 and I always use your reviews for future purchases, so this one is on the list!
Pot smoking on a Monday. Life is good !
I smoke pot everyday. I should really get into shooting
I myself have the midsize with 2 15 round mags, with a light/beam on the rail. Thinking of modifications for the springs to take 3Lbs off the trigger, & the slide will be smoother
I own a FNS .40 4inch barrel and i love it ive put 1,000 rounds through it and ive only had one malfunction from being dirty needing cleaned but thts exspected very reliable gun i recommended it
Mr. Hickok - The information needed is in the details...#1 first things first...angle of the grip is the same angle as a traditional 1911 - that is why I bought the FN actually and FNS...the reason why I bought the FNS over the FN 509 is that it is "Convertible" Yes the FNS version as opposed to the FN 509 is that the FNS will work in 9 mm and you can get the conversion kit to shoot 40 S& W,,,,so if I were choosing and FNH weapon I would go the route of the FNS - I have both and the nice thing is I only need to buy the Conversion Kit for around 275 to change over my FNS 9 to FNS40....specs of the pistol is just as important if not more important than seeing it shot....grip angle is a big deal...!!!
I couldn't care less what the "specs" say about the grip angle on a firearm. I know when I handle and shoot it if it feels right for me. Just because somebody tells me a new firearm has the same grip angle as the 1911 or Glock or Hi-POwer, etc. means nothing to me, or most people probably. Even if you love one of those other firearms, it might just not translate to the new platform.
Hickok I gotta git me one a those fangle point of aim gizmos for my colt 1873 and make it shoot mighty fine. Lol bless ya. To be honest I'd need to try all three on the range because they all look great. I think the midsize would be the one.
mr gunsandgear tested one with a water test and it failed when compared to a glock. i dont own either so i am not biased.
If I’m in the water, underwater, I’m swimming. Prolly not shooting nothing. Just saying.
Lol man you crack me up...I wonder how many people were like WOW..sight adjuster! Cool! Good show as usual...
Excellent timing. I'm wanting to add to the 9mm collection and leaning heavy to the 509. I can ignore the fact it will not fire after being drowned. I'm not planning on going swimming with it. I love how you deal with your cross eye dominance..well done sir.
Yeah, if I were an active Navy SEAL or Ranger, I'd have some interest in how much mud or water it takes to defeat my sidearm; however, for me that's pretty much a moot issue. I think the number of pistol packing civilians who have been killed due to their carry gun getting wet is pretty low, but I'll check the FBI stats on that one. :-)
Shooting guns never gets old.
Hey Hickok I think it would be cool to see you do a review of a PTR-91. I've seen plenty of videos on that rifle but nobody can quite do a gun review like you do. Also, I think you would enjoy shooting that rifle a whole lot. Anyways, take care brother!
I have the 509c MRD with a Deltapoint Pro installed and love it. The 509 tacticool is going to be next.
It's always good watching your videos.
I needed a Glock (sorry HICKOK 45) and s&w m&p alternative so I had my eye on these bad boys for a while and finally got one today and went with the standard model but! This one came with night sights!! Its a damn fine pistol
I have an FNS 40 & 9C. Love to move the 9C for a 509 but I just can’t get rid of an FN. Guess my next additions will be the FNX45, 502 then the 509 tactical.
After all these years… never owned a Glock (probably because they are so popular and I don’t like being a “follower”) so I am getting ready to buy a Glock 19 MOS and now I’ve been distracted by the FN509… hmmmm… guess I might have to get that Glock some other day.
That's right! Those FN 509's get hungry - especially after smoking pots. ;-)
Just got my FN 509 Tactical compact with vortex viper RMR pre installed on the pistol. It feels AMAZING cant wait to go shoot it in a couple days. It comes with a flush 12 round and another 15 and 24 round magazines. I see the same pistol for about $900 WITHOUT the vortex viper rmr and I got mine for $999 I feel like I got a great deal. I think they just came out with this configuration because the tag said "NEW" lol
But oh my gosh aren't these weapons a fully- semi-automatic super dangerous sniper assault marksman rifle with a 30 caliber magazine clip??
No it’s a 9mm semi automatic pistol
I mounted a grenade launcher on mine
Hello friend! Greetings from South Dakota. Good video.
Fantastic video as always!
Would still love to see a review of the Cz TS Orange to see what you think of that glorious gun!
Hey hickock45 I'm english, we obviously don't have a constitutional right to own a gun over here, I don't own a gun or have a gun licence, but I absolutely love watching your videos!
My personal favourite is your review of the STEN gun, I've watched that several times now.
I would love to see you do a full review of the British SA80, a much maligned gun! It would be really interesting to see you break it down, give a real in depth objective review of the SA80, and whether it is a good rifle or not.
Not a comparison of SA80 vs M16 or anything like that, just a really interesting bottom up review of the SA80 warts and all.
Is there any way you could possibly do that?? Please?
9:59 when you're having a conversation in a restaurant and the waiter starts to take your unfinished food off the table.
You seriously got me with the thread protector on the end of the barrel lol, I grabbed my owners manual then you said it was a joke smh
Love my 509. Shoots great & have had zero issues. Bought the extended mag for $55 to make things more fun, would recommend.
Matthew Navarro did you buy the sleeve adapter too ?
Cameron Bowen nope
Mrgunsandgear apparently showed the FN 509 malfunctioning after being pulled directly from water. Imma still carry it. Good video guys!
I've always tried my best to keep myself and my carry guns from being submerged in mud or water. Thus far I've been pretty successful. :-)
@@hickok45 Haha. My thoughts exactly! Let's hope if it gets to the point folks like us gotta worry about that, one of us makes it on the Ark! ;-)
