Wow, this video totally changed my perspective on Uganda! 🇺🇬 I'm honestly embarrassed about my previous assumptions. These people are so incredibly kind and welcoming, despite facing tough conditions.
Mzungu in the context of Ugandans especially in Bantu ethnic communities of East Africa or parts of Southern Africa means Wonderer as some have mentioned. However, it is not meant to be racist but a term for foreigners with lighter skin. It was adopted especially when Europeans arrived at the coast of East Africa and fearing the locals, they would try to get their way into the interior without proper guides. They would walk in circles and find themselves back to the point where they started their journey having lost track. Another belief is that because of the language barrier the European explorers or Missionaries couldn't communicate their intentions of visiting native communities and the natives decided to call them wonderers aka Mzungu (singular) or Bazungu (Plural) as people who are just wondering around without a proper plan. For centuries the MZUNGU term has been adopted for a foreigner with lighter skin colour than the locals are used to.
Yes, a lot of African countries call white people terms by their skin color. Even in Haiti they say, "Blanc" for white. In a lot of western countries it is inappropriate to refer to someone by their skin color. It comes off as racist. But what you wrote makes plenty of sense.

At least it's better than "zero-zero" lol
@masztaarc There’s a viral video of some little rural, tribal kid crying when he sees his first white person, so yes 😂
lets gooo benjamin another banger as usual
I am watching from Uganda and I stay near the PALACE HOTEL in Mbarara where you spent the night, I was so happy watching this and I always enjoy your videos, Mostly those of my beautiful country Uganda.
And you later proceed to my ancestral land Kabale... I hope you've seen how we have so much love in Uganda
Are the people usually as nice as in this video? Even in the areas that seemed poor it seemed safe. Most of the people seemed happy and joyful, it made me want to visit!
@@neilwhitaker6284B&B barely showed the best of Uganda, you are most welcome 😊
@@256Kaku that is really cool thank you! My Priest has been to Uganda I was thinking I should suggest to him we make a trip some time. Joyful people are infectious.
mr bald makes a living by going on vacations all over the world. he is the ultimate free man
Lives the ( poor ) expat lifestyle without being beholden to a job.
Loved it! The people of Uganda are very nice, thank you for showing people this. I am looking forward to seeing you in Eastern Europe once again.
Thanks Benjamin
Brings back alot of great memories from a past trip I've made here. Thanks for the video!
Bless you, Ben, for building that school!!!! Love you both, and always happy to see you, Bald!
Love Uganda so much!! So nice to see people interacting with you!
Wow, this is really fun to watch. Thanks for the classroom Ben.
Your best and only channel on RUclips. I’m always looking forward to new content. Please don’t stop what you do. Loving the education on this beautiful world we share ❤
That's class backpacker Ben, respect for you 👏
Amazing content bald really does thrive wherever he goes
Stands in front on STD warning sign, declares Ben is in hospital with his little problem 😂😂😂😂
yetBald suspiciously complained about his arse a lot
@@Evy-1988 I was gonna argue with you but then I realised I get them from hard work and heavy lifting.... Dont think he does much of that
Another great video. He brings out the best in people.
Crazy statement.....
Honestly, sitting for hours is another way to have those problems.
What an incredible journey. I've loved this Uganda series. Classic B&B content. Thank you once again Ben & Ben.
I'm German and I have to say: great people. Somehow happy all the time, while living in dirt (compared to Western European standards), always smiling, always manage to survive, always staying positive. We Europeans can learn a thing our two from those people. I appreciate European standards, but I feel humbled, when I see how half of earths population has to live and how happy some of them seem to be. ❤
Man,😂 I’m tearing 😅whilst watching you! You’re the funniest person I’ve known for a while now! And for the fact that you blend with the locals makes it special! Keep it up
Hallo Sir, I'm form Sudan and i live in Amsterdam sinds 1996. Big fan bro and by the way you have got such an amazing way to talk to people man. God bless you and keep up the good work.
This video had some of the best banter with locals out of all your videos I've seen! Hilarious, especially the WhatsApp cologne 😂
Are you kidding? The channel gets more amazing with each new clip. BP Ben building schools in Africa? What next Bald? Simply the best brother.
Glad to see he’s still vlogging in his 50s. Keep ‘em coming Bald.
I mean the man has over 4 million subs at the time of me writing this comment lol and the people seem to enjoy his content. It seems pretty unfiltered to me tbh. I like it for that.
Finally an advert that I can really use. Saily looks good. 😄
That was one of your best vlogs for a while, really enjoyed it. The ppl of Uganda seem very genuine and lovely
100%, they seem very genuine and fun to be around
I love UG, my wife is Ugandan. We have a house im Kawempe, Kampala. These videos from Bald accurately portray the kindness and humour of Ugandans, always on a hustle yet always have time to talk. Its a huge and beautiful country, well worth a visit😀
If you don't mind me asking how did you meet your wife. They seem like wonderful people and the country is beautiful. TIA.

I felt happy looking at how happy they look. Thanks for the outstanding episode!
Hey baldie, your Uganda videos are straight fire.
Why not

OMG just found your channel. Was a long time since I laughed so hard. Thank you for sharing your heartwarming no filter wideos filled with love, humor and amazing people.🦄
They don't have much, but the people are so happy; they bring so many positive vibes. In my country (Sweden), people never smile or talk to strangers. I love uganda people. ❤ God bless you guys!
They are all drunk
I had a Swedish friend once, he was odd, would just walk off without saying goodby to anyone lol
@@definitelynotatroll246 🤣🤣🤣
They used to smile in Sweden before all the Immigrants came.
@@ukyo6195not true..... Yeah, Ugandans drink alot but they aren't drunk all the time.
In that village, happiness seems to bloom everywhere. Despite the lack of even a proper road, smiles are abundant. It's a stark contrast to the concrete jungle I call home, where many seem to trudge through life. Of course, not everyone here is the same, but the difference is striking.
same brother, here in toronto area, everyone is angry but they have everything material known to mankind. You ask them, and they'll tell you toronto is the worst city on earth and as you said, i grew up in these types of areas and everyone was happy. It's almost like capitalism doesn't = human happiness.. hmmm
One of the best episodes yet.
Thank u B&B for helping that school.
That was nice of your friend helping to build a school that's awesome God bless you both stay safe on your travels
You’ve retraced the exact path I took 16 years ago. This brings back such fond memories. I am so happy to see the Ugandan citizens are still just as welcoming and friendly to Mzungus. Cheers!
Hands down one of your best adventures too date, The islands natives loved Ben so much they did a dance for him😂
I once travelled Uganda in my youth and I still think it’s one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen in my life and I’ve had the opportunity to visit all over the world. I would really love to go back one day.
beautiful cmon bro be real
Which parts were the most beautiful?
@@salveregaIo beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I doubt you’ve been there by the hate in your comment
@@greatwhiteswag there are beautiful mountainous areas of the country, gorgeous tea fields which look like a more beautiful version of the windows XP desktop background and vast plains with incredible wildlife. The people there are incredibly friendly too.
The deleted scene at the end was amazing. The cake-faced lady just going: "Surrrpriiiiiise!" fucking A+ timing running into that one.
GOOD JOB GUYS. THOSE NEW CLASSROOMS look awesome! Love for Uganda from USA.
Great to see these guys in my homeland. Been following their RUclips videos in UK , Europe & Asia as Whole.
Such warm-hearted people in Uganda, amazing!
Wow, this video totally changed my perspective on Uganda! 🇺🇬 I'm honestly embarrassed about my previous assumptions. These people are so incredibly kind and welcoming, despite facing tough conditions.
Awesome job from Backpacker Ben with the school building and B&B promoting to build new classrooms
It's not a racist term, since English is even called oluzungu in Luganda!
Yes, a lot of African countries call white people terms by their skin color. Even in Haiti they say, "Blanc" for white. In a lot of western countries it is inappropriate to refer to someone by their skin color. It comes off as racist. But what you wrote makes plenty of sense.
Hey Mr. Bald, I enjoyed this video. And I was thinking of Backpacker Ben and I'm happy you've linked his channel in the description. Any plans for coming to Manipur again? The last time when you were in India (near Manipur) you said the place felt like it was 10 years ago from your place, that was honestly spoken, I like it. Sending you good wishes! 😀
Hands down one of the best RUclips channels out here right now
No not now. Always
Such a nice video. It proves that charisma can go a long way in the world. Lovely people in Uganda
I actually like the spirit of the Ugandan people!
Ill put it on my bucket list of countries I have to visit..
Bald is still the best, there’s no one like him. Tbh I’m surprised a TV network haven’t snapped him up; unless of course they have tried and it’s not Benjamins gig. Fantastic video as always.👊🏻😎
Damn, I didn't want this video to end. Gotta love Ben.
