While it very obviously has a western vibe to it, I've always wondered about the instrument choices here. I mean, when do you hear a bell like this (D11 PC Balan) as an instrument in an old western movie? Is it supposed to sound more like a guitar, maybe?
@Tungsten Apparently "Balan" is another name for a balafon, which is a strange instrument that's a bit similar to an xylophone, but a lot different, and presumably a lot bigger. I doubt Masato was going specifically for this instrument, it was more what he wanted that FM instrument to sound like in the game, considering the fact that these were demo tracks and weren't originally planned to be heard by the public. That's what I guess, at least.
