in this match Carlos did 48 unforced errors, and Van did 40...so they werent playing at their best

It was gratifying to see him muster everything he had and watch him put in his place. Alcaraz won’t forget suffering defeat from this unassuming player and that’s why he too had to up his game. He almost wanted to give him a bagel in the 3rd set to remind him of his ATP ranking.

I knew this would be a tough match for Carlos. VDZ has an amazing first serve but his second serve sucks. He is an attacking player that can come up with some unexpected shots on both flanks. He's a great mover and is able to get to the drop shots easily. I think the match was conditioned by poor serving by both players at different times. In the first and second serves, Carlos had a very low first serve percentage and was struggling to hold. In the final set, he improved while VDZ didn't win a lot of free points. He couldn't keep the aggression going for more than 2 h and 30 minutes and made mistakes too.

Alcaraz is the greates ever tennis player no doubt but the emotional inteligence of Van De Zandschulp is something else. when he won the last encounter with Carlos at US open he did not even celebrate he felt sorry for everyone that they will not be able to watch more Carlos at US open, check it out i mean who does that after winning against the worlds best? only smart and humble people

Alcaraz necesita mejorar el servicio (o al menos que lo parezca) lo antes posible. No tiene puntos gratis, necesita ahorrarse ciertos peloteos y sobre todo sostener su saque sin problemas. Lo están quebrando con facilidad.

just me or Alcaraz doesnt go for the lethal winning federer forehands we used to see in 2021 and 2022? Remember that match against Korda on grass where he just clobbered the ball over and over fast/flat/deep /low winners? Or the USopen against Tsitsipas 2021? Now hes playing more slow and patient like djokovic. Nothing wrong but seeing those short point winners were fun to watch
