DID YOU SOLVE THIS?? I have the same issue I’m pretty sure it’s this I have changed everything and have heard of so many other people changing their timing chain kit and still having the p0016 Btw I had a broken oil Screen maybe it went up in there and is causing issues
I just now saw your comment, sorry I didn't respond faster than that. Yes, I did fix the issue. The problem was the cam lock pin as I talked about towards the end of the video. The issue with mine was that the back plate had worn enough that the cam lock pin was not staying in place under low oil pressure. Since there is low oil pressure during cranking, and the lockpin was not staying in place, the computer did not understand why the timing was so far off and kept throwing this code. Unfortunately, there is no way to replace the VVT gear by itself. I tried to remove it but the deer is pressed onto the cam and will not come off no matter what you do. The only solution was to get a new intake cam. Fortunately, there was a Tiguan at my local junkyard and I was able to pull the intake cam off of it and slap it on mine. I tested the used intake cam before putting it on just to be sure it didn't have the same issues. Once everything was together, it fired right up and ran like a champ ever since. If you hand crank your engine and you notice this same slipping of the intake cam, my number one that would be that the lock pin is not staying in place and you will likely have to replace the whole cam. I hope this helps.
My issue was infact the VVT adjuster. The back side of the adjuster had worn just enough that the low oil pressure lock pin would not stay locked in place. 000022 could be several different things but if your intake cam "slips" like this when rotating the engine by hand them I would highly suspect the VVT adjuster. Unfortunately, there was no real way to just replace the adjuster on my Tiguan so I had to replace the whole cam. Fortunately, I found one off another Tiguan at my local junk yard for $30 bucks. Slapped it on and the problem was fixed!
Why is this video called VW TDI?
