Here’s a good tip for tires: If you wanna know how old they are look at the DOT number. Usually only one side of the tire has it but at the very end of the DOT number there will be 4 numbers in their own separate area. They stand for the week and year the tire was made. An example would be [4221]. That means that the tire was manufactured on the 42nd week of 2021. Hope this helps!

As a car salesman it may just sound better to say that there is a ****ton of thread left insteaf of saying that the tyres are too old and can not be used anymore safely.. xD

    • @doingyamom
      @doingyamom 3 года назад

@@SuperHessu555 That’s true but seeing the date codes would be good if you’re buying an older used car. If the tires are old enough, they could be dangerous due to dry rotting and cracking. I work at a dealer and I’ve seen it a few times where we had to recommend tires because they weren’t safe to drive on due to their age. It doesn’t happen often though

I had this exact car! I loved it soooo much. I bought it used in '93, same colors and non-turbo. The paint fading and black roof fading are common. When I bought it, for $11K out the door with a bank check, I put in new brakes and stick, and never had to replace them for over 10 years. seriously I loved the car. Then one day on the freeway near LA, it lost first gear, next it was eating oil..... my mechanic rec I sell it cheap, like $500. He said I'd be saving that amt every 6 months in repairs. umm... BEST CAR I ever had, cried when I sold it, it could beat any car uphill, braked solid and no shifting, grabbed the road, shifted easily, ran on fumes [great gas mileage, hatch back could pack an apt. and I even camped in it.

Awesome man! I just picked up a 92 Talon FWD Auto that only has 70K miles on it that sat in a garage for 10 years, similar to me I always wanted a Talon in highschool and couldn't pass up on it either. However I'm in the process of converting it to a TSI and running a brand new 16G on it, so it wont be NA for much longer lol It'll only be running 10-12 psi and it'll only see summer action.

Popup headlights are not banned, nor where they ever banned. The pedestrian safety rules that made all cars a bit taller and flatter in the front is what made them go away (as well as style changes).

Love those 80-90s cars. My 89 Maxima had the same automatic seat belts, power everything and even a HUD. Took it to PA one year while I was going to college and salt put a hole in the gas tank. 5/12/24 I purchased mine new in 1990 a base Model black cherry front wheel drive, now with only 18,750 miles in 2024. The flip headlights have a Manuel twist knob near the headlight if it didn't open. Mine being the base model was minus a few things from the mid to AWD versions. Mine has roll up windows, power rev mirrors, no air conditioning, 5 speed manual, no fog lights, no rear window wiper, am/fm radio, my lower body looks like your red one, other models have a grey different molding. My tires are new but the rims are original. The gas mileage is about 27-28 mpg , not 40mpg. For a 34 year old car it is in great shape and runs great.

I've had over a dozen 1g turbo DSM's, I usually buy them broken but every so often I buy a runner. I've been building them for about 13 years and currently only have my low mile bolt on 98 GSX but one is plenty. These are great cars for cheap power in the turbo configuration! The 2g 95-99 was the one that has the shock tower rust problems, the 1g's typically only rust on the rockers starting at the back wheel and continuing forward, the 2g's also suffer from this problem.

Haven't even heard of? LOL... You know, Craig, some of us are actually OLDER than you. 😉
Made by DSM Motors. They all came out of the same factory. In fact, my local Chrysler dealer had 4 new Lasers that all had Mitsubishi grilles. They told me they couldn't sell them until they got the correct grilles installed.
"Mouse belts" came out of the requirement for all vehicles to have "passive restraints". This meant either an airbag or "mouse belts". Mouse belts were cheaper, so some manufacturers went that route. Eventually airbags became required, so mouse belts went away.
Love the Berlinetta. It was the only trim available with the "floating" radio.
Craig, you and I are why 90's sport compact cars are going WAY up in price.

I LOVED the look of it.. and when it ran, it was pretty peppy…but when it came to fixing it or maintaining it- it’s a real damn pain in the butt- and trust me- you’ll be doing a lot of that with this car. A mixture of Chrysler and Mitsubishi, but when you need a part- you’re looking at Mitsubishi for nearly every part and finding those old Mitsubishi parts is a pain in and of itself- especially back then. You’d pay nearly 4 times as much for a part compared to something like a Honda or Toyota.

Had a 90's Chrysler New Yorker with a Mitsubishi 4 cylinder in 2000. Bought it for next to nothing because it needed paint. Repainted it, detailed it and put it up for sale. The first guy that test drove it walked back to my house saying it died and would not turn over. Drug it back home, dropped the starter and it was okay. My dad said "Put a breaker bar on that crank bolt and see if it is locked up." Come on Dad, no way this thing is locked up------IT WAS LOCKED UP! Turns out that motor had 2 timing chains that were notorious for going bad. Had to buy a motor and pay a guy to put it in. By the time it was done and sold I made exactly $4.22 after painting the whole car, fixing normal small things and that motor replacement. Check those timing chains! If they are original you better replace them! LOL!

Wheels look like OEMs for the AWD versions.... so those aren't FWD only Turbo models? Now all you need is a Stealth TT to go with the Viper.

The power bulge goes back to the Shelby Charger. Looks really mean from the drivers seat.

That is almost exactly my 2nd car ever. I loved that thing. Until the headlight stopped popping up and the transmission died. I every so often dream of getting another one. But many years ago I got rear ended badly and had I been in that car, I am quite certain I would be dead right now. And yet, I still kinda want one again.

Back in the day I worked in Urgent Care. The local Dodge dealer down the street brought in one of his sales guys who had just wrapped this same new car around a street light pole while testing it out. The dude was ok but was quite ashamed of his little escapade.

My neighbor across the street had one he used to drag race. I was too young to ask what he did to it but it was a rocket. 4wd.
