Nobody could have done a better job of bringing this car back to mint! Without spending 3 or 4 grand Minimum! And for what? Something that isn't original! I'd much have an original, be it a car, a musical instrument, a watch, almost anything. 95% of the time, if you come across a really clean example of whatever floats your boat, it's pretty easy to restore. And old, clean, and original is the thing we all look for! Thanks for sharing this, as always!
Your Eagle Talon brings back memories Craig. My brother had a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX with a 6 speed manual 2 liter turbo all wheel drive the sister car to the Eagle Talon. He was down at the University & had it for maybe 2 months before he said the timing belt broke / interference engine was toast. I forgot how many miles it happened at though. Every 60,000 miles a timing belt change needed.
Man, I used to have a 1G DSM (92 Talon AWD). Had it built a bit, cams, bigger turbo, exhaust, ECU, and of course boooooost. Was such a fun drive! I absolutely wish I could have bought that car from you. Some people like Supras, some like Skylines... I like the DSM range 😆

You have to stop thinking that it's a terrible thing this car is an automatic. It's automatic awd!! On top of that you know it wasn't driven aggressively. This car is a time capsule!! Please do not swap the transmission!!! Leave it alone!! This is a beautiful example!! It has still great value!! Look at the conditions!! Everything is original, no fast and furios crazy mods, original stereo!! I will cry if you mess with it.
Chrysler had some very interesting cars back in the 90’s. I know they didn’t have the hellcats, chargers or TRX’s we have today but man they had a great lineup of cars to choose from that were within reach of the average consumer. They had neons, cloud cars, avengers, intrepid, stealth, talon/laser, viper, Dakota, rams, YJ, TJ, Xj, grand Cherokee etc. Now all we get is challenger, charger, Rams, JL and bunch of jeep cuvs.
If you're keeping the car, pull out the floor mats and store them. Toss in a set of WeatherTech Lasercut floor liners. They keep the carpets clean even from slushy, salty boots. When you sell the car, put the original mats back in. I do this to all of my personal vehicles. My mats and carpets always look new when I sell, about every 3 years.
Beautiful car. You sure it's a 97 and not a 98 though? 98s had the silver lettering at the bottom rocker area and bumper, not 97s. Color looks to be P88 Paprika red Pearl. Pretty rare car and color. Non sunroof car is pretty rare as well.
What an awesome find! It’s getting harder to find these DSM’s in stock condition, especially the Eagle’s. Also, never knew you could get the top trim TSI AWD with fabric and no sunroof, I thought they all came with leather and the sunroof.
The lady was kind enough to sell you the car even though you tried to low ball her, with the deal you will keep it as your personal car hearing you say do I keep it or sell it sounds concerning I hope you keep your word and keep it you are lucky you found such a good deal

Craig, in the saging areas where the visors are get some liquid glue and use a syringe the small needle won’t be noticeable go through the headliner and inject the glue onto the header behind the material, then smooth the fabric out it will stick up no cuts, no push pins. Good luck!!! 👍🏻

My buddy had a white one with the teal and pink badge paint to look 90s AF... It was fast and he had it tuned on 25lbs of boost... He turned it up to 30lbs one day and thrashed it around and blew it up... He never got it fixed and I honestly don't know what happened to it since.
Head liner is actually a quick easy day project… me and my oldest brother replaced the head liner on the family van back in the early90’s I was only 12 n my brother 17 Super satisfying to do
Craig you have no idea how lucky you are man! What next...a Ford Probe GT just to spite us? This was my dream car (although a bigger fan of the 95-96 before they molded the Eagle logo into the bumper) when I was like 10 and I actually had a brochure kit sent to my parents house back in the day! Have come so close to buying its cousin car a few times since I am more into convertibles now but as you well know there are no factory AWD drop tops and I really did not want to trust anyone's backyard welding. The damning thing about these cars is that they are the hot rods of our time and just like the old muscle cars are far few and inbetween. This is such a rare find...not many Eagle Talons left mind you an TSI AWD that hasnt been modded into a shitbox. Curious...it does not have leather interior? Maybe that was no longer an option on 97 but I swear there was a leather interior for the TSI AWD at least on the 95s. Honestly I wish you would leave it alone and just drive it as is but its yours. The manual swap will make it more fun but risk is that you will break things that are now unobtanium and destroy the originality of this time capsule. You have probably the last "numbers matching" DSM left please please think on that before you do the swap. Also I secretly hate you for getting this awesome car for less than peanuts. Hope you are keeping your word about not selling it...or if you do dont go Bring a Trailer on us and sell it for 15K.

Please don't resort to click-bait. I almost didn't click it (but eventually gave in as I watch all of your videos) because of the whole "found this in an old lady's garage". No you didn't. Focus on the actual good stuff you showed off in the video and let the car do the bragging.
That red paint came out so nice!
Will gloves be of any benefit when using the spray adhesive?
Love watching your videos. Suggestion: wearable Bluetooth microphone. Keep em coming!
Such a great video! I love it!
My buddy had a white one with the teal and pink badge paint to look 90s AF... It was fast and he had it tuned on 25lbs of boost... He turned it up to 30lbs one day and thrashed it around and blew it up... He never got it fixed and I honestly don't know what happened to it since.
Head liner is actually a quick easy day project… me and my oldest brother replaced the head liner on the family van back in the early90’s I was only 12 n my brother 17
Super satisfying to do
the music is awesome in the beginning!!
Dry ice cleaning is a must
I wonder how the fuel system is doing on the Viper?
cool car. i used to have a 1998 Mits Eclipse GST back in the day. super fun car. might was automatic too though. cheers.
Should be in a museum 🎨
Hey man are you still in CT. I’ve been trying to help my dad run a mechanic shop and would like to have a conversation with you. If you have the time to meet in person within the next few days I would greatly appreciate it. I could even work out a deal to pay you for your time.
watching you spray paint these classic cars hurts my soul!
7 bolt motor, crank walker. Speed it up, install the manual trans. Everyone that had one back in the day knows all the issues.
I' have a 95 TSi AWD 5 speed that I've owned since new , it has a ACT 2600 clutch that I've been running for over 20 yr never walked , crankwalk is way over stated , I did unplug my clutch safety switch yrs ago and start it without pushing in the clutch
I had a '95 Talon esi and always wished it was a turbo. I want to someday get another one
Nice Blast beat in the intro.
Another car Doug Demuro should review
I friggen love the 2 tone paint my awesome fellow New England friend. I'm in Massachusetts my self. Roughly like an hr and a half or so from you.
Hey craig quick question as a buyer not a reseller how much would you purchase a 2007 lexus gs350 131k miles on it
Immaculate conditions and all services done to it
Loved the look of the talon in the 90s...Awesome car. Thanks for the video.
Same.
Reminds me of an Afa Romeo up front.
You could use a syringe needle pushed into like a wd40 straw to get adhesive into the headliner.
great idea!!!!
@@FlyingWheels
A better idea is use a steamer to activate the glue again
Please, German, come back to do good detail and body work! Give him a raise, profit-sharing, a piece of the RUclips action, whatever it takes!
