    I have to say that the GW6900 is one of my favorite G-Shocks.
    My only nitpicks are that I wish it could display the regular time while you are in the other modes like Timer & StopWatch.
    Adding a multilanguage feature like in the GW5610u would be nice.
    Otherwise is still a very complete watch with many functions & its very reliable.

      Thank you. I think I've used a wooden skewer sometimes too, but the knitting needle just happened to be close when I decided to start making my recent videos. Much better than just using my fingers (which sometimes happens anyway). Sometimes I watch these videos on my big TV at home and then, of course, it's easy to see the details. But I like to use a pointer just to be sure folks know what I'm talking about (especially if they're watching RUclips on a small smart phone screen).

    I don't know if you mentioned but this watch sits fairly wide on the wrist due to the arching of the straps... I found out later that the strap makes the watch wear MUCH larger than it actually is. This can be "fixed" by either modding the original strap, or just using a gw/dw5600 strap instead.
    I also appreciate that the buttons are MUCH easier to operate than the 5600/5610 series.

    I’ve had my eyes on this one for a while. Have to check if Thailand is in range of the CHN or JPN transmitters.
    I wonder: are there any G-Shock models that have a DD/MM date format?
    Thank you.

    • @GoodTimekeeper
      @GoodTimekeeper  3 года назад +2

      Yes, I have some which will allow you to display the date in MM/DD or DD/MM format. One is a Gravity Master GRB-100. It doesn’t have atomic time reception from the Multiband 6 transmitters but, instead, it gets time updates through Bluetooth with the Casio Connected app for Android and Apple iOS devices.
      ruclips.net/video/dJES-X8UJmo/видео.html
      There’s also the G-Shock GWB5600. This uses the Bluetooth connection and it also has a Multiband 6 receiver... so you have both options for time updates.
      ruclips.net/video/l8AM_CxSx84/видео.html
      The “Budget Waveceptors” also allow you to display MM/DD or DD/MM date formats. They are not G-Shock watches but they are also available at a lower price than those other G-Shocks. The WV200 model is almost like a G-Shock with a 200 Meter water resistant case. And it’s available with either a resin or metal watch band/bracelet.

      It is a puzzle sometimes. I haven’t been able to warm up to the negative LCD watches but Casio sure seems to produce lots of those. I suppose that the 5600 and 6900 series are the most familiar iconic G-Shocks and they’ll probably never stop making some version of those.

      The DW is fairly basic but has tons of different colors and the three "eyes" are all used to track seconds. I think it comes with fewer alarms and you can't do the dual time zone thing if I remember correctly.
      The the GW only comes in the shown color but adds some useful features like solar power and atomic sync among other smaller changes. The 3 eyes are used as a dash board to display charge levels, setting and seconds. This is the one I own and it's been great and never let me down.
      Hope this helps!

    • @GoodTimekeeper
      @GoodTimekeeper  3 года назад +5

      According to Casio if it’s fully charged it can go for 9 months even without a significant recharge. As for charging it from a completely drained battery, there’s a chart in the manual for this module 3179. It shows that you can go from nothing to a medium charge with three hours of direct sunlight. It could take up to 26 total hours to get to a full charge and different times depending on the lighting conditions. But if you can get it to a medium charge then it’s fully functional and then just wearing it often should keep it running well. It’s not recommended to leave it in the dark for extended periods.

      Hey man, I am guessing you could have figured it by now, but let me give you some hints. First, I would suggest that every night you try leaving it in front of a different window, with the theoretical 12 dial pointing to the window. If this doesn't work, you can dl some apps on your phone that would allow you to sync it that way. For android I am using "radio watch sync". After the first sync I did with the app, it afterwards started receiving normally signal near 2 specific windows of my house.

      @@GoodTimekeeper The ML-xxxx battery is not easy to procure, and that AFAIK replacement has to be carried out at an authorized facility...
      With Tough Solar system the power management is very tricky. If the timepiece concerned is to be subjected to prolonged cold storage then it needs to be retrieved peridically for battery recharge. Once the battery becomes grossly undercharged then its condition is going to deterioate sooner than you think......
      The general rule is that, if the battery concerned cannot maintain a "High" charge indication for prolonged periods, then it'll need to be replaced.

      I have two GShock models that were both set to Tokyo, and was a day ahead. Once I set the correct time zone everything was fixed.

      @@beesafesweetheart8738 that's the updated DW-6900U that doesn't have Tough Solar. The Tough Solar GW-6900 has not been updated.

      @@standodge3935I’m looking forward to when it does. The GW-6900U will sell very well if it has similar upgrades like the GWM-5610U

      I love the 5000u and 5610u. What I hate about the gw6900 is the time is not displayed while the stopwatch is running. That’s a g shock staple!
      I hope they upgrade the gw6900 as well but PLEASE DONT CHANGE TO AN LED

    I received the same watch a G-Shock GW-6900, 3179, but the alarm and sig beeps do not work. Is there anyway to adjust the volumes? If not then the alarm is worthless.

    You can "select your time zone." How? By doing nothing once you have the right zone displayed? By pressing "mode"? You know, right?

    I wish they upgraded the display on these watches and removed the three eyes. Make the digits larger and display everything on the screen. Like the Protreks. It's a big watch with tiny little display. It seems like wasted display real estate to me. The month and date are especially small on this model.
