NOTE: after recording the video I've been using the mod quite intensively and found a major flaw in the design - the friction between shifter shaft and the spring ball screws is resulting in occasional locking of the shifter and scratches on the shaft. You could use some kind of grease to prevent that but it would make the whole thing messy, so I inverted the design: springs are on the top and ball screws right over the base plate. At this height the shaft has a teflon insert therefore the friction is minimised and everything works smoothly.

Got mine a few days ago, ordered from the site. Delivery to Germany was very quick and without any problems. Also had a personal thank you note on the inside of the package. Very sweet, I appreciate such little things. So here's a big thank you from my side! :) To the mod: It's pretty solid and way better than the original crap. But the measurments could be a bit better on this one. The springs have a little to much play and the ball screws are a little bit out of line and that results in a tiny weird feeling while shifting. But I'm very pedantic on such things. But all in all a wonderful piece and the general feeling is awesome. But it's a bit noisy for my taste. But I guess that's because of the play at the springs. They make a little scratching sound that's very annoying while playing at night or in a silent environments. I will look for some more stiffer springs. That could be the solution. It's very quite when I fully preload the springs but then it's to hard to shift because the space for the movement of the shaft is getting too small. But as I already said, all in all it's a wonderful piece and for that money you won't get any better! Simple and working design. With a bit of skill you can make it even better. And it will get better by time I guess. It needs to run in a bit first. I will update you on this.

Just received the mod today and i must say the feeling is pretty good, the tactile feedback is subtle but for the price it's well worth it

You should look a creality 3d printers pretty good out the box and priced well

Where did you get those thumbscrews. would make switching between h patttern and seuqential much easier
I bought this from Kapral and I'm extremely disappointed. The spring binds up. The ball screws are smaller than shown here and barely make any contact (they either just barely click or they hold the shifter from shifting back to neutral.) The springs are loud and creaky. It feels overall worse. Doesn't look anything like what's shown here. There's no metal contacts on the spring piece that touches the screw. I've done a few upshifts and found that it just sticks in gear until I either increase the spring tension or release the ball tension enough that they don't click at all... or just rip it back into neutral by hand.
You mention that you shouldn't require any grease, but the collar that goes around the shaft rides along the printing lines and starts to raise up as well as bringing the spring with it causing it to bind and stop.
I'm going to give it a chance tonight during my Dirt Rally 2.0 streams, but at this point I think I just wasted $50 (shipping was as much as the device)

Great question. Would also like to know. Even though from all ive seen I imagine the answer is yes, both should be able to work together. Since the other mod is inside the shifter and he made this one on top/outside the shifter.
Yes you can:) I keep the h-mod in all the time even though I've been switching to seq quite often

I know I’m a bit late 😅 I really love your designs!! 🙏🏻 Would love to have that one in plexiglass, so it can go on top of the chrome plate maybe... Would be awesome as a separate design, maybe I’m wrong and this can’t be done technically.... but was just brainstorming about that. 😁 otherwise I’ll order it in black if that’s available 😬🙏🏻
there's a small button in the shifter that needs to be pressed in order for it to work in seq mode, therefore it's not possible to put a seq adapter directly on top of the silver h pattern plate, due to this using plexi would actually be pretty ugly cause the internals are not nice to look at :) plus plexi is pretty problematic and can break easily. if you have the means though I would definitely be interested to see one made :)

Magnets are 6mm in diameter, and the thumb screws I'm simply buying from eBay
Hey man this looks amazing.. I've been thinking of just using the sequential shifter on my th8a cause it's an inconvenience switching plates back and forth.. How much do you charge to make this? And would you ship it to ny?
tbh the shipping from UK would probably be more expensive than the mod, I'd suggest asking on reddit if somebody in your area could print it for you, the models are available for free and all the hardware can easily be found on ebay or aliexpress

oh i also have a magnet on my rig to hold the screws (and tool, because i havent gotten the thumb screws yet) while swapping plates so i dont drop or lose them. And using a crown royal bag to hold the plates.

yup, TH8a and TH8rs are the same, only difference is the usb cable TM includes in the box :)

nope, shifter only works in h or seq, and the modes are changed via small switch underneath the top plate (H btn is not pressed, seq btn is pressed)
@@petermakesthings7342 We could externally mount the switch instead tho maybe ?? this one reason I have never used my TH8 as a seq shifting, too much faff messing around to swap between the two.

u can always use lighter springs and unscrew the plungers a bit to limit the force :)
