This is the first time I have listened to the subwoofer with the trunk open and this is the first time I have heard the distortion. I will be fixing the amp gain to eliminate the issue.

Running a single skar zvx-12 on a taramps smart 3k in a custom ported box tuned to about 25-30 hertz in my 97 Nissan hardbody (extended cab).. Flexes the hell out of my whole cab 😁😁 I love it 🔊🔊🌪

If u have 0 gauge power u should also have 0 gauge ground. Not 4 gauge ground.
yup. run 0 gauge to the amp.. buy reducers if needed.. the amp is already to small
Jeremy Lee if you look good he ran 0ga wire to his distribution/fuse block and then ran 4gauge power and 4gauge ground. Nothing wrong with that

As long as the wire can handle the wattage being put out it's fine. For simplicity's sake it's easier just to match of course and a good habit, but as long as the wire can handle the power it's fine.
@@abdomination Better to oversize than undersize. Also, a good reason to oversize is future upgrades. If you are a basshead, you are ALWAYS gonna want to upgrade. It just doesn’t make sense to run 4 gauge cable. As tankdog03 said, buy reducers.

if you set ur amp with the knob turned all they way up then you shouldn’t have distortion

Veiwers, hope u ensure you're not clipping by checking voltage at amps speaker terminals and comparing highest number with what the formula says is clipping for your amps RMS wattage. If I remember correctly 1500W means 50V. JL Audio and Sonic Electronix have good tutorial vids.
I am thinking about getting a setup close to this. The only difference is i want to get the rp 2000 amp. From the sounds of it. This setup sounds amazing.
BigJoe1617 I would recommend that. I have my gain set all the way up on this amp and it takes it all without distortion or anything. She’s hungry for more power

Just make sure you dont bump while its raining. I found out the other day when some rain started coming through my closed sunroof lol I have the rp 1500 also but with 2 SDR 12s. I almost got 2 EVL but then i wouldve had to spend another 300 plus upgrade my electrical. Ill probably upgrade eventually but these SDR are pretty good. They shake my roof and car for sure. That rp 1500 is a great amp for the price imo.

Nice skar setup brother. Just my two cents. Run your 0 gauge up to the amp then use a 0 gauge to 4 gauge reducer. Thing looks like it slams in that little VW. Skar makes some decent power for the money. Also is that the stock headunit??

Mark Pulford thanks for the comment Mark! The head unit is a double din Blaupunkt New Jersey 220. It has a very oem look to it and I love it.
you might want to back that box away from the hatch lid a little more dude. it won't take much of that woofer just touching that while in operation and it's toast.

Awesome setup! I have a skar 15 with 1500 watt amplifier that I am going to build a box for once it gets warm.

I got a rockville 15 in a 5 ish cubic foot box, the guy I bought it from said it was 4 but it's really big and I'm not sure about that lol, but I have the skar rp800.1d at around 65 to 70% and it's crazy loud, I haven't measured the power but I'm guessing 600 ish watts, and on this song called Texis Meskin from That Mexican OT, it hits a low and my entire cars interior moves, my steering wheel probably jumps 3 inches back and forth, I was worried I might mess up some steering stuff but it's insane. I want to get an evl and a bigger amp, I might need a new backwindow and to screw down my back dash lol probably need to do the second thing now though

Yeah. But it's best to give it its rated rms or a little more so you're not underpowering your sub.
I think im gonna get this because of this video. I got 2 10s ported and its has lots of bass but its just not low.
I'm planning for the exact same setup except on rp2000. You should've done the same that sub is way underpowered
I agree! you should definitely be happier with the 2k watts. I went with the recommended power and not what I wanted to do personally. It handles every bit of power i throw at it and wants more.
Not trying to like call you out or anything but the fuse that you have there at the amp should be closer to the battery if that wire happens to wear down and ground it self out it may not end well

My audiopipe 1500 mini doesn’t have fuses on amp you have to add a fuse right before amp on it

I have a Volkswagen. and I must say. if you ever get a custom box built? have the sub fire side ways! way louder. my first set up ever back in 2004 was a mtx thunder 502 powering a kicker L7 sub. my friend who was the app champion for 6 consecutive years where I live. built my box and installed it firing side ways. box was 1.5 cubes tuned to 36hertz. I had him tune it also. at a sound off competition. I hit 140db at the windshield. it was loud as hell! if you go with the same size box and a port tuned to specs fire it side ways. I'm telling you it will be loud as hell. from what I experienced. if you go with a bigger custom box. fire the sub upward. and port firing up ward close to hatch window. my second set up was 4 jl audio WO 10" subs firing upward with port in the middle of the box toward the hatch firing upward also. box was tuned to 40hertz. I had the loudest 4 10" subs at the time for the size of the amp I was running. I was able to meter it and hit 144 at the windshield. nice set up btw!

Justin Firth look up custom Skar evl 12 box and order one. I got mine it’s paired with a hifonics 3300 and it slams.
Build you a box for the evl itll sound way better than a prefab wich if its a real custom box tuned to around 30 to 32 htz it should sound pretty good the evl is 220 after tax on Amazon with free shipping I ordered one last night

Macoladon C the factory system has an amp for the speakers and I added a 1500w amp for the subwoofer
Need some better highs the sound quality is terrible and I’d go with a Pioneer double din deck instead

cut the port wall out and cover the port opening and just put a aero port in it thats the right size.

Sub too close to trunk. Port has no room around it. Air can not flow correctly. Terrible setup.
Ryan A it was the only way I could fit the box in the car but I have redone the whole interior and the sub has plenty of room now

I didn’t make any upgrades although my headlights would dim when the bass punched
