Oh I was referring to not having room to store the bike lol. And I totally understand about the wife not liking it when you get random pictures.. It was really good to see her get out and ride with you this year BTW.. I used to live in between New Lynn and Titirangi, played a lot of golf at Pinesong when it was still a golf course and I managed to get myself on the front page of the Herald back 84 I believe it was, hit a tree while rallying in Riverhead. Anyways keep up the good work and if you plan on Whistler next year give us a date, I'm only about 5 hours from there in WA state.
Don't sell it I'm going to need something to ride when I come visit mate, would love to get out with Dads Army. Love the videos, always makes me laugh.
Thanx for the video mate. I would say, that noticable difference can only be on steepest climbs, you rode mixed trail, where the power of the race model ( 400% assist, 600w peak power) is not so relevant. And one more thing - you gotta ride a race motor for some time and "learn" its potential. Then you can be much faster. For downhill its no point to compare any ebike motor, how can it be any different, if you ride with 30, 40, 50 km/h...
Yes I agree. The race motor is better with steep technical terrain. As mentioned in the video, I don't have any trails like that where I live. This is a problem for e bikes in general as most up trails are not that steep. The only way to find steep is to ride a DH track the wrong way. This is obviously not a good idea in most situations. I timed the bikes downhill as I had to go down to come up, so I might as well. I also wanted to see if the bikes were a similar speed without the motor, which they were. Yes, it would be nice if redbull flew me to the Italian Alps with two identical bikes with just different motors, but hey, we live in the real world.
you are a very successful man. and you poop money. would you buy a nicolai mgu saturn 16? don't you want a belt drive? please purchase and do a review. thank you. I'm too poor to buy on at this time.
It may appear like I poop money but the reality is I am very careful with money. One of the perks of having a youtube channel is getting access to nice bikes and riding kit. If Nicolai wants to send me a bike I would love to review it. Saying that I have made 1 to 2 videos every week for 6 years. Not an easy way to get a few freebies.😂
OK new question, I see that you have Continental kryptotal on the red one and Swable not sure which ones, my question is what are your thoughts on both and how do they differ?
I was running Argotals front and back and they were excellent in muddy conditions but not so good on hard dry conditions. The kryptotal is a faster roller tire and is only a 2.4. The exonic has Eddy currents on it. I have struggled with these in wet conditions but they are good in all other conditions. The rear is a 2.8 so a big tire but great for grip when climbing steep stuff. Why my tire choices? The exonic came with the Schwalbes and I got given some Contis to try when I was on the orange bike. Hope that helps😊
Hi Lance. Have a question for you which is slightly off topic. Have you or any of dad's army used Secure storage at auckland airport? I'm flying to Queenstown with my bike from Sydney and stopping in Auckland for a few days to visit my parents on the way. Just wondering if they provide a good service. Thanks 👍
Mate, come back to Queenstown so we can do another test! Over a whole weekend or more. You on the race, me on the smart system CX (because your old KTM isn’t smart system right?), and then we swap bikes (cause I use clips too) and do the same trails again…
@@bestdayevermtb2ha ha low blow! I think I have learned that maintenance is key! My bike has had a full refresh for this season and I’m ready to video you casing the jumps at Mini Dream 😜
@ a lap of each you reckon? Now that would be an interesting advance test of the difference between the two. No time for a breather in the middle though.
Thanks for the feedback, but not sure what you are trying to saying. Are you saying the bikes are too different so the motor comparison is invalid? The fact that on a track where the motor was not a factor the bikes were effectively the same speed shows this not to be the case.
@ oké but bikes are not the same that wil make a difference But you did not use te race motor to te max use the race modes it is special to the cx race motor
Rob rides emtb tested it on a short climb on his channel against the new Bosch gen 5 motor and pinion the Pinion did it around 39 seconds Bosch 37 DJI dis it in 30 seconds something like that anyhow absolutely savage motor 🤯
I own a ep8 and that’s something i have never paid attention to it. CX is the race version better motor can handle heat much better, but cx was made for the crystal cyclist, just to get rid off the rattle
@porroco I really appreciate feedback and comments on my videos, but I am struggling a little to understand what you are trying to say. I have no idea what a crystal cyclist is? The Bosch CX motor has traditionally always had a rattle noise in the motor. The Gen 5 has removed that. Is that not a good thing? I am a bit confused.
Bloody good videos you make. Keep them up!
Thanks very much. I really appreciate that.🙂
Good review, not sure if I could go back now after having the Race motor. Can’t wait to see what they do next… 🤫
Yes, not sure if a gen 5 race will come out or has the race motor had its day.
both beautiful bikes mate
I love them both.😊
Love the vids🔥
Thanks heaps 😊

Would love to get back to Whistler. Not sure I will make it next year but you never know.
Great video Lance! Should have got the steamer out to compare that on the uphills 😅
Also is that part you were riding in getting logged at all?
Yeah nah on the steamer idea. These tracks are not being felled in the near future.
Don't sell it I'm going to need something to ride when I come visit mate, would love to get out with Dads Army. Love the videos, always makes me laugh.
I have thought of keeping it so others can ride it. Finding somewhere to keep it is the challenge.
Well cant argue with the numbers
I love numbers. 😊

No idea on that one. We are trying to research leaving 7 bike boxes in Hobart for a week. Any ideas on that one?
@bestdayevermtb2 At the airport or anywhere? Friend of mine just got back from Derby, ill ask him.
@vaughanharrison1191 Thanks. Near Hobart airport. We are hiring two Ute's with bike racks. Want to leave bike boxes behind.

We could do that. Or we could just do mini dream. Depends if you can find a bike that doesn't break!

@NZMtbGuy I am good at casing.
So with all the climbing involved, which one are you going to bring to race the Piki50-25e?
Can I swap bikes after 1 lap?😂

Hey lance what's the bikes weight, Cheers from W.A Australia
I think it is 25kg. Not super light but to be honest I like the full fat e bikes.
So do i love my Giant reign +1its a beast,take care @bestdayevermtb2
This is a comparison of noting different bikes this is carbon vs aluminium fox vs rock shox and the race motor have the race modes that is faster

120nm and was it 1200w on boost for 30sec. Insane.

I have a lot of problems. Which one are we talking about. My wife doesn't like it when people on the internet send me private pictures😂
shot aww johnny, church is for sundays
god bless
Yeah, but the woke cyclist said motor has a weir sound it rattle, they got the gen 5. Who cares about that rattle
I'm not sure who the woke cyclist is, but getting rid of the motor rattle has to be a good thing.

@@bestdayevermtb2the crystal gen, i rather performance than just worry about a rattle sound.
Can you test a full vs half batt? Surely the diff in weight from diff fuel levels would have some affect? 😆
I had to think about that for a second 😂
What no helmet
What do you mean? I am wearing a helmet when riding. The camera is attached to the chin of my full face.
Just get a real motorbike. They are cheaper by the way......
I have had motor bikes in the past and may get one in the future but only if I move. I have no where to store or ride one where I live currently.
