  • I get to try the Mondraker Dune RR with the Bosch SX motor rather than the CX motor I am used to. I try the bike at Woodhill Mountain bike park and am keen to see if I can keep up on this lower powered bike compared to my friends on full fat e bikes.

    Besides that noisy freehub, I noticed how absolutely quiet this bike is: No rattling, no clanking, nothing! This is a dream!
    I would love to use this with an onyx rear hub.

    Also very good for light weight riders, I have a Liv intrigue E which is 20 kg, keep up with my full fat mates easy and use about the same power because I weigh less than they do.

      Certainly, being a light rider makes a big difference to range. My wife is tiny and only has a 500WH battery, but so far, it has never run out and flies up the hills.

    Low weight, full power e-bikes are so fun. The full fat is going out of fashion. 55nm on this is already out of fashion when these new light bikes are already pushing out over 80nm. When you want the power it's amazing to have it.

      Different reviews say between 2500ft and 2700ft for a 200lbs rider, another dude achieved a bit under 1300m (tour+ mode) with 75kg and some girl made it all the way up to 1600m around the 60kg mark. So unless you nees to get there fast you can certainly squeeze a good amount of range out of it

  • @kilianlindlbauer8277
    @kilianlindlbauer8277 10 дней назад +1

    Did you have the chance to test it on a bit slower technical terrain? Currently looking for a lighter and more nimble bike than my 24kg husqvarna mountain cross. The motor is probably not the issue as im 95% using eco (50nm) mode, im more worried that it feels too large. My home trails involve some lower speed (around 10 to 15km/h) section with natural obstacles and narrow paths, you certainly feel the heft of the husqvarna there but it also got a shorter wheelbase of around 4cm less, but more than 4kg additional weight and cheap (suntour) suspension. Otherwise im pretty sure it would be a perfect fit as im planning in going regularly to bike parks

    • @bestdayevermtb2
      @bestdayevermtb2  10 дней назад

      No didn't get to test it on any technical terrain, but think it would handle it ok. Would love to have somewhere to test these bikes on rocky uphill trails but nothing where I live.

      @bestdayevermtb2 thanks! did you find the suspension hard to set up? The reviews i have seen either really like the bike or didn't seem convinced by the öhlins suspension. I would also expect that the impressions from a RR and XR will differ quite a bit since the coil spring shock should be have more linear than the air shock of the lower spec ones

    • @bestdayevermtb2

      @kilianlindlbauer8277 I got Mondraker to set it up for me based on weight. To be honest, it wasn't quite right. I think the rebound was a bit slow. If I had the bike longer, I am sure I could get it set up better. It was still fun to ride, but when I did AV8A, I was struggling to make the jumps.

    • @kilianlindlbauer8277
      @kilianlindlbauer8277 9 дней назад

      @bestdayevermtb2 saw that you were always a bit short on the jumps. Any idea what would have caused this?

    • @bestdayevermtb2
      @bestdayevermtb2  9 дней назад

      @kilianlindlbauer8277 I wonder if the rebound was slow and I was getting less pop off each one. Did them on KTM today and just floated over.

    You lost me with higher cadence… I’m allergic to cadence, the higher the cadence the more adverse the effects are on my body.

      Maybe look into some bike with a ep801. In contrast to bosch cx they full power ones can still get under 20kg, some even under 18kg with 160/150mm travel. Examples are a cannondale moterra sl, rotwild re 375 (removable battery and enduro like suspension at 20kg) and a wallis project s (with sturdy tyres 18,4kg). Orbea rise would also be under 20kg but the ep801rs has lower power output and a different characteristic. The ep801 has much more low end grunt than the bosch motors, a cadence of 60 is nearly enough to get the full 600w out of it, holds it up until 80, drops a bit and at 110 the motor cant keep up anymore. In that range its even more powerful than the dji motor, which has a similar characteristic to a bosch sx, the faster and harder you pedal, the more you get out of it. Not as extreme to high cadence, but the power curve looks really similar.
