    Insights and artistry continue to define your musical contributions to the internet. I come away with knowledge I did not have of what makes guitars work, and how they should sound when played correctly. I don’t know where else I could get this education. Great job. Please keep it up.

    Great demo! Tell me, have you adjusted the pickup heights different to factory presets at all?

    Serious playing and sound! Nice and clear review, thank you sir. Maybe one day i will buy a new one but right now i have original blue Steve Morse with original electronics but i have feedback problems on stage volume with good amount of gain... I have another set of Steve Morse dimarzio - same problem. Do you have something like that?

      Thank you very much and i’m glad you enjoyed this video as it was the first time I ever tried to talk to the camera for a RUclips video! I never had that problem with this guitar, so it could be a wiring/shielding problem or the pickups could be microphonic. But it’s weird that it’s happening on multiple guitars with those pickups. Have you tried other guitar cables or amps? I’ve only tried these pickups in this guitar (which i’ve since sold), but I was able to play pretty loud through both traditional and digital setups without any issues with feedback.

    Really good review and a great guitar indeed. I owned two 4 pick-up Steve Morse models and a Y2D later on about 10 years ago. All three felt and sounded great.
    Just a few days ago I found on Ebay the spec I always wanted to have - quilt top, purple sunset finish, non-matching headstock, fixed bridge. Can't wait for it to arrive. I might even do an unboxing video.

      Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience! I’ve never had the chance to try the 4 pickup version but always thought they were interesting. At the time that I was shopping for these, I preferred the figured top and more streamlined Y2D configuration. Congrats on finally getting the one you’ve been hunting for!

    I don't know shit about guitars, i'm just here to feed that darn algorithm with some freshly baked comments.
    Also your skills are poggers, or at least they seem so for an uninitiated.

      @@SethSilvaMusic this guitar is nice what you think compared to a les paul? i live in europe so i cant really find place where they got them

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 года назад

      This guitar is kind of like a mix between a les paul, a strat, and a tele.
      The neck scale length and feel is more similar to a fender-style neck, but the fingerboard is much flatter like a les paul. It also has way better upper fret access than a standard les paul.
      The body is thinner than a les paul’s, and the top is totally flat, rather than the carved top on a les paul. In this respect, its similar to a telecaster. Because the bridge is recessed into the body on the Y2D, I’d argue that its a little more comfortable for your right/picking hand as your wrist/forearm is able to sit much more neutral when playing. Weight-wise though, the Y2D I have is pretty heavy just like a les paul.
      Sound wise this is much more modern than most of the les pauls i’ve tried stock. The pickups are also a lot clearer sounding to me than Gibson’s higher output pickups.
      Ultimately, only you can decide whether all those things make one guitar better than the other. I’m lucky enough to have both, and I love both for different reasons.

      @@SethSilvaMusic how much is the price cause in denmark its so expensive cause of all the vat too

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 года назад

      When I bought mine, it was under $1900 US, but that was back in 2014 so I can’t remember exactly. The new 2021 version I mentioned is $2999 US, which is significantly more than I paid. From what I see, Music Man and US guitars in general tend to be way more expensive in the EU due to importing and VAT.

    These humbuckers sound a lot like Les Paul PAFs, the fact position 4 combines the two humbuckers (instead of middle + neck) makes this even more apparent. The finish of this guitar is beautiful, but the tiny frets and the lack of contours are a deal breaker for me, unfortunately.

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching/commenting! For me, these humbuckers kind of remind me of a Les Paul Custom tonally but with less mud. The frets actually don’t feel too small and they are at least “medium jumbo” in height i’d say so, it could just be the footage that makes them seem smaller (unless you’re just a fan of massive frets, which is cool too). I do wish this guitar had some more cutaways though, but hey, I could be used to it since i also love Les Pauls/Teles.

      Hopefully will be able to put more out. Just depends on how many hurdles it hit in the process. Thanks for all your support. I appreciate it and it helps more than you know.

    man that pickup sounds TIGHT under heavy distorted sound

    • @SethSilvaMusic
      @SethSilvaMusic  2 года назад

      Yeah these pickups are surprisingly versatile in that they sound great throughout different gain structures. I was shocked at how great they sounded for modern high gain seeing as Deep Purple is NOT that at all. Thanks for watching!
