There’s a couple penta licks throughout their catalog. Usually interspersed with more spicy stuff so it hits different. Javier the other guitar player is really good with more soulful stuff like that as well
I love Tosin, but his sound is just a lot of well established classical concepts that used to be as popular as pop music is now. If anything, I view him like a musical historian breathing new life into old concepts.
@@reboooot lol you can say that about any musical concept, that all artists are just breathing new life into what has already been established, but there has not been another musician in history that has propelled so many other musicians to take up a number of diverse techniques and approaches to an instrument like Tosin has. I was half-expecting you to dish out some pentatonic notes bc I heard you've been taking Blues lessons; and boy what a tasteful choice of notes Way to go, Mr. Abasi!
Beautiful playing as always my guy. Although honestly, I’m still perplexed by the existence of this guitar, and even more perplexed that it doesn’t come in an 8 string model…😅
Same. Tiniest multiscale fan ever. Only 7 string. Seems very limited in what it can do for an exhorbitant price. The whole project is like if apple designed a guitar.
My guess is Tosin wanted to present something a bit more approachable for anyone new to his design aesthetic. He probably was curious to see if he could work out something with one less string on it LOL. If there's enough demand I'm sure an eight string model will come to the market.
Tosin is probably the only guitarist I can think of who could have the demeanor of a formal-educated elite classical musician if he wanted to and I'd get it and not think twice
Robert Fripp's been doing that one for fifty years. And Tosin already does it as well: Although he dresses like a rock star - an understated one - he doesn't really seem to act like it. For him, as for Fripp, it's all about the music and he does the Big Time Music Biz stuff reluctantly or not at all.
@@Baribrotzer This is an interesting point. I just saw AAL like 2 weeks ago for the first time and I was very surprised by how classy the whole band act. Minimal talking and when he did it was nice, normal, no screaming, and understated. It really is all about the music with him. I really like that about him. Great show btw, the music was amazing and the light show made it like a transcendental experience.
That is awesome. Smooth, sleek, and classy with a bit of a sinister edge creeping through with the light fuzz! This, Abasi-Kaizen-Concept (whatever it's called, lol) just looks and sounds amazing. I wanna see/hear you shredding on this with heavy distortion, unless this would be a guitar that wouldn't be primarily utilized for that purpose. Great music as always dear sir, thank you for all you do and AAL as well!
The way you make notes sit together that wouldn't normally mesh to an ordinary guitarist is incredible. I felt like I was reading a book and there was a plot twist at every single note you played, and I had to just keep reading. You hear a note change and you feel like it won't work out and instantly the next note makes the last one make sense. Wow.
I remember the first time I heard you play guitar Tobin. I was totally blown away. You've opened up a whole new way to look at guitar, keep up the great work.
Ooooweee Tosin with the sweet Hendrix licks right before going into the tapping, that was tasty and splendiferous! Who says pentatonic licks are for Boomers only🤣
The music in this demo is so wonderful. I also love everything about this guitar except the scale length. I dream of owning a 7 string multi-scale guitar with a non-locking tremolo. I love the look and design of this guitar, but it's too short for my taste. If it was 25.5" to 26.5" for the low string, it would be perfection.
I never thought I´d see the day Tosin Abasi rips a pentatonic lick
Maybe been hanging around with the polyphia guys when he wrote that one
@@lasagnasux4934 he's been taking private blues lessons few months prior
Never disregard the pentatonic; it's the world's most popular scale for a reason.

Amidst millions of players, tosin truly did carve out his own unique sound. One of a kind.

Id say tim and les claypool(although a bassist) are equally as unique.
I always wanted to get better at guitar until I watched Tosin. The spot has been fulfilled and I can be at peace 😅😭😂😂🧡🧡🧡
true. i can feel the opeth influence
It’s wonderful to hear him play slowly, so that you can really chew on his ideas the first time you hear them
It bothers me that him playing slowly is still outside of my skill level.
@@mattmills3645 😂😂 no kidding haha
You can Learn the slow lick note for note that he’s playing but to match his feel is what makes Tosin

Just saw AAL play for the first time 2 weeks ago and it was a transcendental experience. What a band.
It's insane live. Have seen them 3 times and each time was phenomenal. First time in 2009!
saw them about 2 months ago in India, was in the front row!! man it is a once in a lifetime experience!
I still can't help but love those good ol pentatonic licks just sooth the soul
His phrasing is phenomenal.

This has the perfect amount of grit and dirt. Mixing in that janggly sound and clarity.
Thanks Rick Beato for lettin me know about this amazing artist, im freaking loving this dude

The blues progression at the end was honestly fuxking perfect

Completely agree. Love the aesthetic, but functionally pretty pointless.

might be a research phase thing? But Abasi has his own guitar, so what gives? Who knows.
Enough with the 8 string sound. It’s so 2010. If I hear one more 8 string down tuned riff again I’m gonna lose my mind.
My favorite song of his yet. I love the slow play!
Hearing Tosin play blues sounding riffs isn't something I had on my 2022 bingo card. Amazing.
Wtf is a 2022 bingo card
I really like this. Tosin is an inspiration.
Chord progression starting at :40 slaps so hard
Intro is VERY different, but than he switched to Abasi mode😁
Nice!!!
Idk that section from 0:39 would fit on a hendrix/polyphia/mateus asato track so well, sounds pretty melodic for tosin
a mycelial masterpiece
So much in love with this. So beautiful!

I mean he's doing proper classical guitar posture here :), also his custom models seem built with sitting that way in mind.

Tosin's playing never ceases to fascinate me
Kind of a nice change of pace to hear him play something slow and soulful.
This is probably why he's so good. He just lives in that room which literally has nothing in it except a guitar and an Axe Fx.
