I had the same thought, having previously ran the UK Exhaust Mod for a few years. I’ve had the Fujitsubo Legalis R catback for close to a decade now and love it but.. this is making me miss something slightly louder and more obnoxious lol.
Wondering if you still have the exhaust. Now sure why mine lost the rumbling after engine rebuild... Even on cold start it sounds different. Been trying to figure out why..
Great video, I’m trying to decide between a HKS SSM and the Tanabe Medallion Touring. Your video has swayed me towards the HKS. Is there much drone around 3K?
I went down the same decision route as you, absolutely didn’t want any drone, after reading a few writes ups I went for the HKS as it ‘seemed’ to give me everything I wanted. Not obnoxious at idle, no drone , but race car sound up top. It delivered absolutely all of that . There is no drone , I know everybody says that but I’m quite susceptible to any unwanted low noise from anything, in car or at home, and there just isn’t any. Even driving normally it’s all very sedate….but plant your foot and it sings. Exactly what I was after . Hth
@@andytaylor1 It sounds really good, but I can’t hear much difference with the Berk HFC. Is that just a recording limitation or does it sound similar I’m person? Also have you felt any change to the power delivery between stock and HKS and Berk HFC?
@@Max-rt4yo tbh I don’t think there is much difference, i wasn’t expected there to be much. More planning for future remap really. Now maybe it’s placebo, but I had a small dead spot on acceleration which is now gone, but I had new Iridium spark plugs fitted the same day, so cannot say it was the HFC , the service or the old cat that made the difference . Overall butt dyno says 👍
@@andytaylor1 I still can't believe there's no drone, but there's no reason why you would lie LOL! My Toda is so bad between 3-4k (otherwise it sounds imo amazing) , I'm looking at either Mugen or SSM next. Have you ever considered Mugen?
@@final0915 I don’t know what to say, it was the reason I went with this as I had heard other reports saying it. It’s not as asbo loud as some out there for sure , but it gives me nice cruising and big smiles up the top end…just what I was after
Thanks….keep meaning to do an update as it’s all got a few more miles on now…maybe a job for the weekend😛 tbh the Berk had got good feedback from what I could see , seemed good value so pulled the trigger. Not sure it made much difference tbh, but I really didn’t have the SSM on for very long with the standard cat to be able to notice differences ( plus it hadn’t really ‘coked’ up being so new and in my experience all exhausts take a while to develop their true ‘tone’). There is a fair bit of ‘petrol fumes’ smell when idling or reversing tho….
Well if you do post an update, you’ve got one guaranteed view - I’d be interested to hear your thoughts now that you’ve grown accustomed to it. I’m still waiting on the right S2K to come across the auction/dealer sites, but this is my number 1 contender for an exhaust mod at the moment. I appreciate the honesty with the Berk, and it’s good info to know that there can be a smell associated with it. I’ve seen some people say you need the HFC to drop the VTEC engagement point down to the desirable 4,100 RPM point, but I don’t know if this was ever really proven. Thanks again for the video and reply!
Just picked up the same exhaust system. Absolutely love it but wish it was a tad louder. Only have a few hundred miles on it so far. Did you notice if yours got noticeably louder as it broke in? Wondering what I should expect with mine over the next few hundred miles. Also, if it doesn’t change much I’m considering going the HFC route. Did you have a noticeable change in volume and/or tone with the HFC? I can’t really tell a difference in your vid.
No drone…..this exhaust has a split personality…drive normal and it almost sounds stock….get on it and it springs to life. I know people say ‘no drone’ on a lot of systems, when in fact there is but they are not sensitive to it. I am sensitive to it, cannot bear it. This does not have it at all.
I got hks spec l with hfc 63.5 mm and i have to say both have different signature in sound. Hks hi power deeper also a bit louder the other hand is Ssm will sound oem+ and soft raspy tone but not obnoxious.
just got mine from Japan, cant wait to install !!!
To me this has the cleanest natural sound. I want it but dam its high haha.
純正からこれに変えるんですけど、エキマニと触媒純正のままでも問題ない?
How does this sound inside the car with the hfc/exhaust combo? sounds great on the outside but how about the inside? Can you still listen to music?
I was just reading and looking into the uk exhaust mod. Sounds almost like this one. I really like this exhaust. Will try the uk mod first.

@@gordonz88 I have the legalis as well. Looks beautiful but far too quiet.

Thank you for the great video! Far and above the best SSM video available. How did you decide on the Berk 63mm HFC? Both ways sound great!

Hondas, you have to play with, HFC, Test pipe to get the sound you want
Does it drone?
I do t have the car anymore, but it did not drone at all. I’m susceptible to low noise so would not have kept it if it did.
No drone at all? Even with the HFC?
