I liked your review...not too technical, easy going...what the average person would be interested in. I bought this vehicle in XLE trim. The grill is subjective, I personally don't care for it but its not a deal breaker. The dash is outstanding and made me want to buy . Like you said nice rich materials inside, seats look and feel good too I am loving it.
For sure your wife isn't the gauge of all the consumers if the car looks good or not.....Personally, I find this to be the best looking CUV in the market right now.
It is an amazing coincidence, but I found this review and watched it AFTER crashing my 2104 Highlander Limited Platinum (in the same color of Creme Brulee). The crash was due to medical reasons, hitting and stripping guardrail at about 65 mph and totaling the vehicle. All of the internal airbags deployed. Neither my daughter nor I were harmed and didn't even have a bloody nose from the accident with the airbags. We walked away from the accident and I have since replaced the vehicle with a 2015 Hybrid Platinum. Toyota has amazing safety standards and this has kept me as a loyal customer!
The front styling and grill looks really nice. Back is really clean as well. Luxurious feel to the interior even on the LE Plus line its a mix of Leather and cloth on the seats but the Leather is used on all the high wear spots.
I like the review, but I could care less about what you or your wife think about the styling. I really hate when reviewers go on and on about how they don't like the new styling. Blah blah blah.... Really, it's all subjective. At least Toyota is on a path of not making cars that look like a kitchen appliance. Ballsy move with styling. Thank you Toyota!!!
I agree completely the same goes with Lexus. They took a huge leap with the new IS giving it head turning looks and all people have to say is wow that looks bad. Maybe you don't like it fine you don't have to buy it but at least acknowledge that they are making improvements.
Excellent review. very clear and relatable. Back seats carpet comment for those who clean the car...(me). Love the insight on the up down passenger oversight. I love to know if you tried it with premium top tier gas or just regular gas. I find toyotas respond very well to shell premium (in my case) or any top tier gas, specially when I need power to go uphill. Anyone out there know comfy seat for long drive on SUV and not at the price of a Range Rover ?
Shouldn't a professional auto reviewer know that with all Toyota power liftgates, you can operate them manually if you need to close or open it faster.
Chris, you've won me back a bit. I see that some people are still dinging you below, but I think that this is a much better style than the Scion TC review. I think you presented the vehicle in a very fair manner. You seem to have moved away from constant attempts to be funny, which is good. Well timed humor is fine, but I understand is also subjective. Having test driven this vehicle in LE trim, I think most of your points are spot on. Good job!
Why pay more just for luxury sake? This is an utility vehice. Should you like to have a luxury car be it a performance luxury car not this Highlander with some luxury options that would double the price.
The limited grade of this has better leather than a low trim Lexus. Plus the interior is very similar to one. Lexus wouldn't need to make a version of this.
Rx 350 is the Mechanical twin of this. Also high end trims share most of the items. Minus the third row and some optional features , they are very much the same
You guys REALLYY need to get rid of this guy, he does NOT know how to review, he's boring and even looks boring. Its like a homeowner comes out and makes a private video review of his car, and then posts it on youtube.
I totally disagree. I think his review was great. He doesn't just regurgitate what every other 4-5 minute review would. He points out a lot of stuff that other reviews don't go in depth about. Yeah, he spends a lot of time on the interior features, but let's face it - that's what's most important for the majority of buyers of this vehicle.
this is what you call a PROPER review. very informative for CONSUMERS who look to buy this type of vehicle. its not some track testing 0-60, figure 8, "listen to the exhaust note" review that the so called car enthusiasts would only point out in other vids
I wish they review the 2015 Highlander in detail in term of materials inside. It is boasted that Highlander could tow up 5000 lbs but none of reviews mentioned about the towing capacity of the vehicle; and none of the vehicles shown had no bumpers made in a way in order to have tow hitch attached to the vehicle. I know this this can be requested but to request for something that is not installed give way to car dealers to charge customers even more. Car dealers make from $6,000 to $8,000 or more on each vehicle they sell; around 8.87 percent of the total price. If you spend $43,000 or more buying a vehicle and still request basic things / options to be installed, it is a big mistake. It seems to me that Sellers are NEVER be honest.
I just bought a 2014 XLE a week ago….. I had to pay extra to have the glass break sensor for the XLE trim, I am not sure if it comes standard on the limited or not, but if you didn't buy that option with the vehicle I am not surprised that the alarm didn't go off when the window was broken.
FYI - my 2014 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD has proven to be an unreliable POS. You name it, something went wrong with it. Many things fixed under warranty, but ALL 4 power door lock actuators went out after warranty.... at a repair tune of $500 per door to fix. Thanks Toyota.... my first purchase and experience of the amazing reliability of Toyota. It's all bullshit by fanboys..... One and done here.
Seriously, a 15+ minute video that does not show the driver's view of the cockpit/dash? Really??? Wow, that's a major oversight from someone in the business of reviewing cars. Why do we want to watch 7+ minutes of the side of the tester talking a lot about the significant upgrades to the materials used on the dash but then they never show these new upgraded materials? He also told us that there is now 3.5 "more" cubic feet of storage space behind the third row seat than the previous model, but never told us how much total space is back there. Now I have to go look up how much storage space was behind the third row in the last Highlander and then add 3.5 feet to that to get the total in the new model. Why not just tell us the total storage space behind the third row in this redesigned model?
Why is every car company out there going this way with a crossover look? The only car that actually looks like an SUV nowadays to me is the Lexus GX anything else is just crossover to me.
I don't like the look of this New 2014 Highlander. The front look like a truck (Tundra) and the rear look like a Van (Sienna). The interior is Ok. I prefer the New 2014 Pathfinder. The exterior and interior of the New Pathfinder is very stylist & luxurious. It has more options than the Highlander and it is cheaper too.
“My wife”. Why are you talking about what your wife? We’re trying to watch a review here. We don’t need you acting like much people care what you or your wife thinks....
My Gosh screw a power door. The rear door has never worked right. And better get a 6 cyl or it will be weak ! It don’t use that much more gas. And that door. I’ve lost more groceries. Never shuts. Have to force it. What a pain for that mortgage payment. Don’t know why the wife wanted thag. We don’t have kids 🤷♀️ got it paid for and now they radiator is bad . Not like my 90s Toyotas. Like tanks
This "fucking boring" vehicle will give reliability, low maintainance, good resale value and the needed performance for it's purpose all providing at the same time a very good level of comfort. I you'd rather waste money on something more expensive it's up to you. Just think what could you do with the extra money instead of wasting it like garbage.
Railrunner23 Well, maybe Mr. Pedro Pedrosoy is the happy owner of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo so that's why he is calling this Toyota a "boring" one. Let's also hope Pedro is a very rich man who has paid cash for his Porsche.
IMHO, the rear and front grill is icing on the cake. Bravo Toyota Engineers!
Nice job on the review. Now Honda needs to revolutionize their Pilot.
Your wife is wrong, this gen Highlander looks great

Like this guy's reviews.. Good critique
Great review. Where was this guy before? He is so good at reviewing (selling) cars.
For sure your wife isn't the gauge of all the consumers if the car looks good or not.....Personally, I find this to be the best looking CUV in the market right now.

really good review- in depth and went over some points that parents will face!
great job

Great job on rhe review. Now I konw all the info I need to know about highlander. Good job!
This guy is good I like his reviews. He's good looking and I like how he talks with those very LARGE hands of his!
I love this new Toyota Highlander!
AWESOME review!!!!!!!!!!

Great review, keep up the good work!
I like the car.
Very good and fair review
Great Kermit impression!
Lovely review 👌
I like toyota highlander limited 4wd 2012.
great review !! Thanks
great review and a good suv

I wonder if there'll be a Lexus version of this...They've said they're gonna do a 7 passenger SUV

This guy kinda looks like John Ritter...... great review, very informative.
How was the ac system on it? 2nd and 3rd rows efficiency wise! Is there any ac windows for 3rd row seat? Thx in advance
Nice interior (although) I caught the 1980 clock on top of the dash again?
if money want a problem should I et the Highlander Limited or Durango Citadel?
You guys REALLYY need to get rid of this guy, he does NOT know how to review, he's boring and even looks boring.
Its like a homeowner comes out and makes a private video review of his car, and then posts it on youtube.
thats what everyone wants... not some biased review on a car.
amanjot rai I understand where you're coming from, but I don't mean it that way, I mean it in a way that he's too boring to be on a reviewer site.
I totally disagree. I think his review was great. He doesn't just regurgitate what every other 4-5 minute review would. He points out a lot of stuff that other reviews don't go in depth about. The 3rd row needs some help. Even the base LE is nice inside & out. Needs the hybrid in a lower trim level.
best show
What about the noise?
At the 2:05 mark he kinda looks like John Ritter.

I have a highlander and someone broke the window over night and the alarm didt sound off did i have to activate the alarm or what ?

+Samantha Hahn it is not standard, it is an option on the Platinum trim.

Two words.
FRUIT CAKE!
Why is every car company out there going this way with a crossover look? The only car that actually looks like an SUV nowadays to me is the Lexus GX anything else is just crossover to me.
You can open the hatch by hand...And you don't have to be standing right next to it to open..."just so you know"
$42k?! Great review nonetheless.

This guy talks toooooooooooooo much!
Zzzzzzzzz...... is done?
I just don't like the driver side control. I rather take Honda Pilot for instead of this.
stop making fun of my dad!!!!
Tip: don’t let your wife talk about what cars look like. It’s no good for your channel
The new Pilot is supposed to be great. I don't like the way the Highlander looks and I only like the interior.
2.4 on an suv? wow..

Toyota's are not boring. Mercedes Benzes are because all Mercedes Benzes look the same.
