Make clone molds out of plaster of Paris of your favorite shaped jigs and pour your own . I've made 6 usable molds for about$10. Then making them with the stainless inners and lead jigs are only a couple of dollars each

sometimes... when getting whack n missing the bite, pause for split second and just twitch the rod tip to infuse a bit of action on the jig... hoping there will be a follow up hit..
if nothing happens.. drop jig back down since its in the strike zone now.. but just for a few meters.. continue to jig that strike zone again.. so that allows u to work that zone more thoroughly.

when you say Dogtooth are like a tuna and a mackerel thats kinda because they are, all of them are actually releated and all are in the family Scombridae and more specifically the subfamily Scombrinae, the subfamily then has 4 tribes the first is Scombrini which comprises of your smaller mackerel like slimies and blue mackerel then you have Scomberomorini which are your spanish mackerel so fish like spotties and narrow/broad barred spanish are in that tribe then you have Sardini which are your bonito's and dogtooth tuna are actually in this tribe so technically they aren't Tuna but instead a Bonito then lastly you have Thunnini and that has all your Tuna's in it, Mack Tuna, Yellowfin, Longtail, Sothern bluefin etc..
so in shoty, Dogtooth Tuna are actually a Bonito and not a Tuna but all Tuna, Bonito and Mackerel are actually related.
there is actually another subfamily called Gasterochismatinae and that subfamily comprises of one fish in one Ginus and thats the Butterfly kingfish.

Seriously guys, please learn how to run an assist rig with a solid ring. You only need one hook, not 100. You only need to change the jig via split ring. Tieing to a split ring is asking for trouble. Swivels are counterproductive. Jigs that have thick heavy profiles are essentially sinkers too.

We fish slow pitch jigs differently in southeast Texas. We will dig it up fast 5 to 10 times without popping the line then open bail slowly let it flutter back down to right depth. I love catching blackfin tuna and any other fish in the ocean this way.
