    Hmm, ya add bolt on mods yet run stock lower end. And rev it up to almost twice the max rpm. Not too swift in the old brain are you Scooter? Why would a 3600 rpm motor turn 6000 rpm? Do you think it is a conspiracy against you? They sell you a high performance motor dirt cheap and lied to you about it capabilities? Nope, they told you the truth, come on Skippy, it does not even have rod bearings. I am coming over and removing the rod bearings from your poser pickup because real motors don't use sissy ass rod bearings.
    All joking aside. It needs rod bearings and get rid of stock flywheel. It is balanced for max 3600 rpm. I have seen more than one fly apart at 4000+ rpm.
    Hey it is a lawn mower and pressure washer engine. Just sits there and runs at a steady rpm well below max speed.

    A number of things could have happened with the rod and crank. The most likely is an improperly installed bolt. It could have also had a poorly ground crank or debris stuck in bearing, starting a chain reaction. Getting your RPMs up to 6k might have been a contributing factor but it definitely wasn't the cause. Thanks for the video, glad to see I'm not the only one who has motors trying to spontaneously eat themselves.

  • @SurvivalHunterNM
    @SurvivalHunterNM 2 года назад +4

    That shaft is fine. You're seeing bearing transfer. Just sand it, polish it, and you'll be fine. The problem was that the bolt wasn't tightened down.

    • @SurvivalHunterNM
      @SurvivalHunterNM Год назад

      Actually, I've used this method on several engines. It works great. The trick is to focus on the residue and since it comes off quickly, you end up with very little impact to the crank.

    • @kensperspective
      @kensperspective Год назад

      No! That crank has been overheated. That has ruined the heat treat on the metal and made it much softer. If you try to run it at high rpm’s it will fail. You need to replace it.

    Modding a Chinese engine that's competing on cost and putting it on a boat makes no sense. If your go-kart breaks, you can drive home. If your duck boat breaks out on the marsh, you're in for a fun time. Tinkering is fun, but on a boat if you want more power, buy a bigger motor.

    Hey man, I just built a 22hp beaver dam longtail and I’m having an issue with the prop hopping out of the water and having to really wear myself out holding in. I went to the 8.5 prop and it was better but I have sacrificed a lot of speed with it. I’m looking for recommendations on how to keep it down so it rides in the water. I’ve used the trim tabs that are included but it’s not helping much. I bent the skeg and that seemed to help some. What should I try next I’d really like to use the 9 inch Because it pushed me at a good speed.

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  Год назад

      Transom could be too tall, which is the most common issue I see. 16 inches or less is the sweet spot. Also you can try loosening the shaft bolts and rotating the entire shaft in the direction you bent the skeg, that usually helps me. Also adjust the motor it sits as far back as possible so all the weight is on the tail. Try all of that and if it does not help then shoot me an email chris@tbnoutdoors.net

    Took my stock 670 running wide open with 8x5 prop was turning 4 to 4100 rpm,
    Somewhere in the 17 18 mph range
    Put a 8x6 prop wide open turning 3600rpms, 20 to 21 in lake water little chop,

      Anywho,
      I think I had told you that I had the old 57 inch crawdad frame godevil which I mounted the 670 on, with a heavy alweld 1542, and I am getting those speeds, with a long kit from sps I would probably get close to 30 with the rite prop,but the speed I’m getting is good enough until this frame gives up, and I figure I got it dialed in rite, cause I can sit down and pretty much steer and control it like an outboard, which makes it cheesy

      I usually break them in by running them on a longtail without any mods. Regular governor at 3800rpms max and just run it like normal. This is one of the engines we used for the 3 way review video so it had about 2 hours of run time on it.

    For a break in I would use some cheap conventional and a zinc modifier. Royal purple isn't good from what I've heard especially on small engines. I've always heard on these predators you shouldn't ever run synthetic for break in.
