- We're building a Predator 420cc engine with a stage 2 performance upgrade kit from Go Power Sports. The cam, valve springs, billet rod, and billet flywheel will allow our big block Predator to make more power at higher RPM. This stage 2 kit is more involved than a stage 2 install on a Predator 212.
Thanks for Watching!

i don't mind a longer video 30 mins would be great i wish you could do more videos Monday Wednesday and a Friday .......
Here's a little tip for removing bearings and bushings in a blind hole guys. Pack the center hole with grease then use a punch or wood dowel the size of the hole in the bearing and hammer the grease into the hole. It will hydraulically force the bearing out of its seat and it's quick and easy to do. Thanks for taking us along! Zip~
That's a great tip that actually works!
genius
@@anthony560 Not with a open cage bearing like that.
ZippoVarga in this case you would use bread and a dowel.. same effect different material
Damn, beat me to it!
If you wanna take advantage of a road legal golf cart, put the ducati engine in it.
On that balancer bearing you should have put bread in there and the bread will push it out just like on a car engine with pulling out of balance or bearing just put bread in there and you mash it in there in the burial Papa you can eat use soap
jordan tractor vlogs yep or grease and bits of paper rag.
@@jordantractorvlogs7008 Wut?
@@JRWperformance I don't know about bread but you can fill the center hole with thick grease then find a rod that fits snug and hammer it into the hole, as the grease is compressed it works behind the bearing and pushes it out. Dunno if my explanation sense at all but that's the gist.
@@Xaltar_ Wet toilet paper is one way to do it. Probably better than bread.
I don't think I would sacrifice electric start and charging coils for a billet flywheel. Especially in a golf cart application, you gonna have to lift the seat to start it every time
pogosticknick
They can use the golf cart starter generator and all they would have to do is put a pulley on before the clutch so the starter has a way to turn the motor
I’m not familiar with the predators , is it a normal ring gear that’s pressed on?
Heat it up a little and press it off if so.
Then the next question is, would it fit on the new flywheeel?
@@MrTheHillfolk won't fit
I agree with pogo, losing the electricals will bring it's own inherent issues. As for retaining reverse, there are carts that came with the reverse/forward in the rear end. Ezgo, club car, I'm not sure. If they can find one of those, great. Another issue will be grenading the rear end with that power increase. They were designed for 12 to 15 mph
Joel Boley
Heh I figured as much.
Sometimes I wish I had a 5 acre yard piled with junk so I can try stuff.
Like see what ring gear might be close enough if you shave a few thou off the od off the flywheel,or something.
I’ve got access to a lathe and mill and sometimes it’s fun to whittle your way out of (or into) a situation.
Nothing like using an angle grinder in an engine block
Itll be fine
Honestly I don’t speak for everyone that watches your channel but Ike and John for a 30 min video is good by me. You guys mesh very well. Keep up the good work! Nice build also!
Overwhelm? Really? I'm down for the longer, the better! Great project, as I have an older golf cart and I'm interested in how you plan on keeping/have reverse. Most gas carts have a starter /generator and the engine is designed to run backwards to accommodate this.
Whatever you come up with, if it works, I'm installing it
Overwhelm!, Really!..That's what I say!...They must think they're talking to a bunch of young children that would overwhelm them!...The video was just starting to get interesting and I'm definitely down for half hour vids, the longer the better as their vids are way too short to begin with!
RK, I was saying that in jest. I'm pretty sure that John was referring to possibly the video becoming tedious, not that the content was overwhelming us or over the viewer's head.
In all seriousness, this is a great channel and the number of subscribers in the few short years of existence is testament to that.
I truly look forward to every Monday and Wednesday.
For me, don't change a thing
As for installing/changing valve springs with the head on. Pack the void with the piston at about 1/2" from top dead center with clothes line rope or the like, then set the piston at TDC, this will hold the valves in place while you reinstall the valve springs. Then simply pull the rope out after you're finished. Where there's a will there's a way! Cheers Guys! Zip~ p.s. I know these tips are after the fact on this engine, but will come in REAL handy on future builds.
too old school!
Thread a fitting for an air hose into the spark plug hole. Fill cylinder with compressed air.
camjamsdad
2 screwdrivers on each side of the retainer and push down to compress the spring.
There’s so much old school tech tips they coulda used for that, like someone else said it’s after the fact.
They can try it next time
Edit: 2 screwdrivers and some metal chunks (sockets) as fulcrums.
Hopefully ya can see what I’m trying to convey but the darn words aren’t cooperating ! 🤣
So you're not going to be able to run a starterator on it I'm guessing since no charging system and also if no charging system also no lights so will that still be road legal there. I know here in SC you can run them on the roads in certain areas but they have to have headlights, tail lights and a rearview mirror.
You could but it wouldn't be a charging system to recharge the battery so every 3-5 starts im guessing the battery would need to be removed and charged.
It's not ideal.
@@2v_media Yea but im sure theyll just charge it up after running it cause its not like theyll just drive everywhere in a golf cart
Hi there again, I saw that there is a company called DuroMax and they have a 18hp 440cc engine that was fairly reasonably precised.

What the deuce boys. Gopower code not working? Or did it change?
im expecting big 420 golf cart burnouts now
Have your billet fly wheel machined and have the ring gear attached to it. So you can keep your starter. Also, you can have your charging coils added.
Not hard to do.
Yea not a big job, I was wandering why they didn't go down that way.
I love this channel, I always look forward to more videos.
I'm hoping next time when we see the rest, since you had to pull the head off anyway, that you do a port and polish on at least the exhaust port - get that 420 breathing free! I'm thinking a drive-train mounted generator to keep your lighting/accessory battery charged!
GOGolfKart!?!
WIth the ducati engine ?????????????
No electric start or power generation for lights on a golf cart you want to use on the street??? Can you say useless??? In fact, I bet you regret this choice in a mater of a few days.
Gas golf carts come stock with an excellent belt drive starter/generator. I imagine that they'll be using that instead of the junk by comparison Predator systems.
Did you not hear him say they were going to be "pull start" only?
-.- They meant that the *engine* will be pull start only. They could still use the generator for the lights.
Uh huh...
Aaaaaawwwwww maaaaannnn just make the 30 min... hell even an hour long video lol 👍👍👍 awesome builds guys!!! Keep em coming!!!
Cars and cameras!! Look! Great videos guys. Your channel has inspired me to build a golf cart about 3 months ago when my stock engine finally blew up. I started with a 500cc Polaris four wheeler engine I Hooked it up to stock rear end and as you could imagine I overheated the stock rear end and the old brakes were non existent and as you can imagine going 30mph+ with no brakes was not fun! So I decided to scratch the idea and go with the duromax 16hp 420cc electric start and the 30 series converter only for short period until I get a better converter . The hardest thing I’ve done to it is the live axle swap. Installing the axle was easy but making it stop is a lot harder than one might think I’ve tried the mechanical brake caliper kit from go power sports but it doesn’t stop like I want it to I am currently waiting on the hydraulic caliper kit to see if that helps to stop it a lil better and I am running 25” tires and a top speed of 49mph so that could be a reason it doesn’t stop
I am curious to see how yall are going to build your golf cart, how fast it’s going to be and how fast is it going to stop!!
Most important be careful and always remember
ITLL BE FINE!!
Damn these tuned phones who always get to the comments before me
That’s way too much work for a bearings. USED BREAD AND A SOCKET IT WILL POP RIGHT OUT. Then u will. Have a snack after
Guys, great video. Here's a mechanics secret on how to change valve springs, without removing the heads. An old mechanic showed me how to change the valve seals and springs on a V8 without removing the heads. I said Huh !?? WhotheWhatthe !.... Then he showed how he used an old spark plug, removed the ceramic element, brazed the male part of an air hose quick connect to the spark plug..screwed it into the head, and applied air pressure. And faster than you can say hiyahiya !..he used a forked tool he made to pry down on the valves. It pivoted on the rocker arm stud. Worked perfectly !! I have use one I made, on many engines since he showed me in ...(1982)...Ahhemm !! (getting old guys !) lol. Anywho !...just a thought. Peace !
i laughed when ike threw the instructions for the air filter across the room like who needs instructions lol
Does anyone know if the Duramax 440 is a decent engine or not? Thanks- 🍻
Hey guys, search for a video from AvE, "greasy rag hack" to remove those bearings in the future, much easier and safer than welding a washer to the bearings.
I am from Germany sorry for my bad English.
Your Videos ar so nice can you build a driving beer crate with 9hp
Well man I hope
My channle gets this big lol 💪🏻🤙🤙🤙 love it keep it up
Yeah finally a 420cc build yeah!!!!!! Yeahhh yeah ! LOL This engine is amazing
Wow look at all those comments I’m still stuck on the 5:48 part!! Buuutttt I guess that’s just my Aussie humour hahaha good work guys keep it up hahahaha whoops there I go again hahaha
Why aren’t u keeping the starter? I think u shud get a different fly wheel . Think about how easy it will be to run lights and u don’t have to open the seat to start it . Also it’s such a great option to have
No sir, you are wrong. We would like longer videos. I get really bored at work and need videos to watch. Thank you 😘
Let's hope this legalizing golf carts thing comes up to new york
Awesome video brothas!
Ike did I hear you right? Did you say you all are going to soup up a golf cart?
We prefer 30 minute videos :)
Hi there. I look foreword to you videos. Keep up the great work men.
Can’t wait to see it run!!!!!
Road legal carts??? Where do you live? That's awesome.
You guys hack way to much!
Golf Carts legal for road use? Maybe NC isn't so bad after all.
Awesome as always. I'm good with a thirty minute video lol
Nice intro guys
I thought i saw a yellow golf cart in the last video!
my buddy put one of these on a crappy kart stock and wow cant wait to see it finished
Run an air hose to the spark plug hole. That will allow the air pressure to hold the valves in place. My Harbor freight compression tester has 3 hoses that can be used for this method.
was thinking the same thing
Put a dowl or your finger in the port. Hold the valve up
@@rogermarshall8991 the air pressure method frees up both hands to use on getting the spring and keepers in place.
You could even put string down the spark plug hole and put the piston at tic to hold the valves.
and turn the crank, no?
This summer should be interesting and fun!! FORE!! A HOLE IN ONE!!
To bad you need to ditch the electric start, I enjoy your videos 👍
No I wanted a 30 minute video that was so dope
Grinding and welding inside of an engine? That’s a new one.
I thought I saw a golf cart in the background of you last video. It was yellow i think
I think u guys should do am offroad trike build
Something wholesome about this vid!
In before they bring in capacity \ power limmits lol
Where I live, the Carts have to be DOT compliant, able to pass inspection, are legal only in 35 mph or lower speed zones, and have a max speed limit of 25 mph. Kind of takes most of the fun out of it IMO.
William Cornett yeah we have the same sort of deal for motorized push bikes here...started out anything was ok then no more then 50cc and a specific speed
Me: Shouldn't you guys break in this engine before you modify it?
Ike: .... it'll be fine
Me: Are you sure?
John: IT'LL BE FINE!
What about the lawn mower?
5:15 you don't need a bearing / slide hammer for that removal, use the old grease trick. get a bolt that fits as close as possible to the diameter of the hole, fill it with bearing grease, wrap the bolt in tape so its nice and snug, insert bolt over greased hole, tap with hammer, bearing pops right out, I've used this on pilot bearings for years. my dad used to use BREAD, yes bread bread. but thats just not right
Can't wait to hear it run. it will be fun in a golf cart
Sounds wild , guys . Just going to say if I was building a street legal anything , hmmmm, a 670 just comes into play for me . The sound, the torque and power . If you need a big shoehorn get one lol ! Great video John and Ike
Love the build guys keep it up
Great video and love those long videos
Would love to see a V8 built of these engines! AND I'm on the lookout for a built myself because of you guys! Fun and informative.
Great video guys and we all dont mind the longer video's make them a little longer I love yalls videos you should host an event in Florida
Hi guys! Big fan and I love the builds. I got one of yalls mini mayhem t-shirts and it’s one of a kind! Can’t wait to see this kart build
Hope you enjoy the shirt
Isaac it'll be fine I most certainly do!
excited to see the go-cart frame. There's a guy with a go-cart graveyard just outside of rolesville nc. I think he re-finishes them and sells them custom.
Good video guys keep up the good content
Street Legalized Go Karts?
I live in Kings mountain north Carolina. Love the channel
Hey neighbor
Thanks for all the vids, nothin like some engines and wheels. I would love to see some 2 strokes! cheers.
Great vid as always !
Anyone have the dimensions of the 420 after the factory air box , muffler, and fuel tank have been removed? I’m about to go get a free 420 that’s coming off a generator that burnt up but the engines is still good
Nice video guys. Keep them coming .Cant wait to see what's next .
Those spring compresses screw me up as well, i always forget i don't have a set.
FINALLY YOUR DOING A GOLF CART BUILD!!! Can't wait to see how it turns out as I'm doing one right now with the same engine lol. Maybe I will be able to catch a few pointers from you guys
A few points, you may be able to swap the ring gear by heating it up to remove it, that gasket will likely set the end play so the engine will be very tight to turn if you just use silicone, eBay/amazon has a $16 valve spring compressor that works fantastic on small valved heads.
"They just legalized golf-carts in our town" "We're going to make them rethink that decision"
Im SO excited for this ooooohh yeah
A socket and hammer always removes the retainers quickly.
You think it sounds hack but about every machine shop I’ve ever seen does em that way. and it works fine, you just dont need to be a hamfisted sledgehammer ogre.
I made a video on how to remove those kind of bearings with bread. The bread trick works so much easier for those lil bastards. The one I was removing in my 420cc craftsman engine almost drove me crazy before I found bread.
Guys... Please learn your terminology so you don't appear
"New" some of the younger crowd look up to y'all. (WHY ????) I Don't know.. But anyway I saw a video lastnight a guy was testing a Honda 305 and came up just short of 34 hp @ 7,900 RPM.
So if your build goes good, you will have a way cool 420.... Around 40 hp. Give or take. But I believe they were running nitromethane.
The 420 looks like a literal sized up 212. Like in Microsoft paint where you can make an image bigger. Literally that
You guys should put a 3d Motorsport manual clutch on one of your karts or minibikes. It has many advantages over a centrifugal clutch. It seems like it would be really fun to be able to dump it also.
Id rather have the 30 minute video with the complete motor build. Your filming is awesome. It can be hard to get all the shots.
with the valve springs you get an old spark plug and remove the guts of it and weld a air fitting to it then just put it in and add an air line and the pressure will hold the valves in place
Hey what are ysll doing with the cali control box, the black plasic box under the valve cover? I need one and there hard to come by. Send message about if you what to sell it?
I wouldn't mind 25-30 minute build videos. It'll be something nice to fill out my lunch break.
Did you guys have any problems after removing the balance shaft? I would like to do the same but not sure if I'll need a billet crank.
You should’ve screwed the nut back on the crank while hammering it but… TESTING PURPOSES
Why not just leave the balance shaft bearing in there? if you were worried about vibrations working it loose, you could have just peened the aluminum around the outer race to hold it in for good.
If you dont have a flywheel knocker put the nut back on before you hit that crank bro
Have you ever seen the rope trick when working on valves in a head that is still on the engine? You take the plug out and thread a long rope into the cylinder leaving the end of the rope sticking out so you can retrieve it after you are finished working on the valves. you rotate the crank to press the rope up against the valves to hold them so they don't fall into the cylinder. You will also need a spring compressor that goes on the rocker assembly so you can compress the spring and remove the keepers and the spring. After you are done back the pressure off the rope and pull the rope back out. ( Not sure if that will work on this type engine have seen it done on a car engine before.)
if you want to work on valves with the head still on, take an spark plug drill it out and weld an air fitting on it. screw it in and connect it to compressed air. that wai the valves will stay close and you will be able to work on it... love the vids greeting from Namibia.
I. Have a. 440. Duramax. Am. Doing a 308 Cam. Fly. Cdi. Blue. and much. More I. Can't wait. Till am. Down.
Only a single cylinder be careful what you do to the flywheel it needs the weight to complete cycles
We CAN handle longer videos...
This idea we have a short attention span is getting tired...
Thanks tho guys, just stop with the patronising tone, we can pause if we are following.
[ or make your own excuses for breaking up content, stop blaming our attention span :0P ]
Could have got the balance bearing out with some bread and a punch that fits inside the inner race. you put some bread in there hammer it, put some more in there hammer it, repeat. The bread will get behind the bearing and push it out. Example www.youtube . com/watch?v=00OlG5E8vLk
You guys should get in touch with Matt from Demolition Ranch! He's having a time getting one of his new double motor karts working correctly and I figured you guys could work your magic.
Good content plus Demo Ranch follower exposure!
Hey guy looking thru the Craigslist ads ran across something yall might wanna look at Charlotte NC Craigslist.type in 1937 Chevrolet Chevy large go kart junior dragster 3500 Vale NC. Pretty cool I think
I'm a disabled ARMY RANGER VET single Father of a 4 year old son and 3 month old father ma and my son love and watch every video wish I had the time and money to do this with my son but you guys are great keep em coming guys thank you.
They just legalized golf carts! Enter evil scientist laugh here! That was hilarious, "we're going to MAKE them rethink legalization"😁
Tip for removing valve springs. With the Piston about 1/4 way down the bore, insert a length of clean nylon rope into the spark plug hole. Be sure to tie a knot so it doesn't disappear 😉. Bring piston up until it compresses the rope, holding valves in place. R/ R valve springs, take piston back down and remove rope.
