    Can you use a heat gun to tighten down edges? Or would the heat damage the material?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  9 месяцев назад +1

      RH: Please do not use a heat gun with MonoKote trim. The trim is just a sort of plastic covering that is sticky on one side. There are no heat-shrinking properties to the trim, a heat gun will just make it bubble up and be deformed. Tim

    The nitro-acetate lacquer stinks awfully, but I still prefer tissue paper for my balsa micro-RC and park fliers. I don't know why, but paper cover gives them kind of more authentic look, for the lack of better term. :-)
    Just yesterday I bought nearly a life-time supply of the tissue paper in a local household items store. It was sold there as "gift-wrapping paper", comes in packs of 3 50x75cm sheets, each pack a bit less, then 1 USD. And they have quite a variety in colors, including even silver!
    But for a larger models - definitely Monokote film any time.

    Will monokote adhere to foam type planes?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  2 года назад +1

      Terry: Yes for most foam. Use a Lite iron-on covering (ie low heat), and test first before applying to entire model. Tim

    I have used this for years but sometimes it will Fail and Krinkle up and has to be removed and new trim sheets added. Any Idea why this happens? It looks great for a year and then larger flat pieces will bubble up randomly. It's wrecked a few of my really nice builds.

      Tony: Not quite sure. Maybe try a light mist coat of Krylon clear spray, see if that holds things in place. Tim

      I was thinking maybe add a little white glue on the sticky side or your idea sounds good
      Appreciate your response 😊
