Cool plane . RCM was my favorite magazine . Except for my first powered glider all my planes were scaled up RCM plans .

Excellent! Thanks! Been a long time since I built a flying model from plans but you reignited the flame. DAL by chance?

Mike: Thanks for checking in! My last airline, I was hired by Atlas, for a bunch of reasons flew the B-777F for Southern Air. All good! Tim

@@TimMcKay56 Thanks for the quick reply! We're you flying on the Amazon contract? Just nosey . You do know why I guessed DAL.. Gainesville is a beautiful place and I've always loved GVL. Great airport. Being a native of Chattanooga may have colored my opinion?

@@mikethompson3710 I did not fly the Atlas Amazon. When I was hired, Atlas wanted to use the B-777F for their inventory. Easiest way was to purchase a B-777F company and their FAA Operating Certificate, and that was Southern Air. As SA had an earlier training date, I took that. We flew the DHL contract exclusively, actually had the DHL logo and paint scheme on the jets. Had a great time! Tim

I have no experience with any type of RC car, plane, drone any of that stuff, but I was given a pile of miscellaneous plane parts. One thing led to another and I made a 3 engine bi-plane. It looks good, but flying maybe not. I noticed that of the hundreds of videos online I couldn't find any with 3 engines. Is my plane doomed before take off ?. Also I wired all three engines together and the engine in the nose spins in the opposite direction as the two wing engines. ?? Thanks if you have time if not I still enjoy your videos

Todd: Thanks for checking in! Plenty of three engine aircraft flying out there, a good design choice. The prop should rotate clockwise when viewed from the cockpit, or counter-clockwise when looking at the front of the airplane. Just sway any two of the three wires on the motor to reverse the direction of rotation. Also, be sure to check your props are not installed backwards. There is a little bit of printing on the front of the prop, by the hub with prop size, to indicate the front. Finally, be sure to have someone who has a bit of experience for that first test flight. I didn't hear anywhere talking about motor thrust angles. Did I miss that coverage? If not, might be a good thing to add especially if you changed the angles from the original plans.

I generally use a bit (2-3 degrees, eyeball) of down and right thrust for my models, seems to work well. Tim

    Hey Mr. McKay,
What is the real world 2022 price/cost of just the wood (balsa and light ply) to scratch build a "40 sized" airplane? I know balsa has really gone up since I last built in the late 90s. I've never built one that didn't come with at least some pre-assembly and/or precut parts, but always wanted to. Thank you sir!

Jack: Balsa is not inexpensive these days, I do not know what to say. But is a lot of fun to make a plan on your own from plans! Tim
