I cannot get enough of this cat! Seamlessly transitions from grimy, chunky blues to a real, soulful jazz sound and his voice is decades older than he is! Brilliant!
You can tell he loves making music and communicating through song and not just ripping off great licks. It makes all the difference.
So with ya on that!!! WOW.. Just got turned onto him and memorized by his sound and band!!

Damn Man, I haven't heard anything as Motown soulful, with the Organ that slowly bridges you into a tight and concise lead, that once his fingers catch the key, can get as gritty and blue as any of the best to play..That's my story and i'm defiantly sticking to it..shit

I would have loved to have seen this in that setting! Even back then, there were no "light weights" in this band. Every one of those players is crushing it and the synergy is amazing!

Yes indeed man and this was a “Free” show! It was originally planned to be outdoors at the local farmers market pavilion in Abingdon. Due to the weather the show was moved inside to the brewery close by. As you can see the place was over crowded. Believe me most folks knew what they were witnessing there. I was there knowing this would be one of the last times this band would perform in such a small and intimate setting.

I just found about these guys at around 130 p.m. today . It’s now 10:30 at night and I have to wake up at 430 for work but I can’t stop listening to them !!!
This show is unreal, but I’ve cranked through like 2 studio albums and tins of your tubes . I’m a truck driver and do day trips , I’m home every night but all day I listen anything and eveything all day long. Usually I get home and watch some news and go to bed. I can’t with these guys. I’m truly hooked . This some awesome stuff and I have become a major fan today !! Tomorrow morning is gonna suck but it’s worth it!!! 👍👍🔥🔥

Marcus is a perfect example for a musician who doesn't (just) stun you with (however admirable) technical ability but moves you with his genuine musicality and touches your soul with his art.
I am a big fan of Marcus King and his band. Personally I think he is best young (22 year old) talent out there. We could argue about guitar players but no one sings and writes better that Marcus King. Thanks for the video.

sometimes I hear Marcus channeling Stevie Ray, but I when I hear him channeling Zappa it's so great. Zappa was such an overlooked guitarist! it melts my brain!

Nobody plays the blues like that on a Gibson. That's strat material.. but he walked on that stage with the last song on the little feat concert, n let it rip.. they knew he had it going on.

Dang Marcus! You don't realize how awesome you are bro! There is so much emotion in your music. You are so fortunate to have strated playng at such a young age. You have your own voice on that guitar that is like no other. Also your vocals are great man! Its all about the emotion. Coming from a singer first and guitar player now; man we are never happy with our own voices lol. Wanna sound a certain way through the speakers. But the best way it will ever sound is owning what u have and let your feelings out with your heart. You got it man. Rock on!

At the time, this was a free show! I knew it would be one of the last small venue events for this band.

Glad to stumble on this just today. So have been watching The Marcus King band segments today. They are a terrific band. Loaded with a unique talent.

Looking back, you do not realize how fortunate you are to be 6' from the stage at an intimate show like this in a small craft brewery, as show's like this will be few and far between due to MKB success! We wish them all the best. And thank you Barry for this memonic!

Anyone who attended this show was part of a special history in blues guitar not unlike the epic shows like Lynyrd Skynyrd live at the Fox or The first show for the Ramones or Blondie at CBGB’s .
They will brag to their children and grandchildren about this night.
