I've been a fan of Sacred Warrior since their beginning. I had the opportunity to see them a couple of times live. They are one of the best Christian Metal bands around.
Love Sacred Warrior! They have a special place in my heart. I went to the same church that several band members went to. My favorite album is Rebellion. Mostly due to it being their first. I was at a few of their early concerts. My dad even loved their music. He would go watch them practice.
They are playing the Immortal Festival September labor day weekend in Versailles Ohio saw them back in the day at Kings Place Columbus Ohio and going for Immortal Fest the whole Weekend Barren Cross Whitecross Sacred Warrior and more are playing.
Another good review Shane! You keep this up, you will be rocking for the King in no time! By the way, no one on the internet has ever reacted to a Christian metal band out of Sweden called Jerusalem. Their best is an album called Warrior. You might be the first ever if you check them out.
I’ve been listening to Sacred Warrior since the inception of the band back in 1988… They are getting ready to do a show in Versailles Ohio Labor Day weekend… Just came together in the studio for the first time in 30 years and they sound better than ever… Rey Parra the vocalist and Jonathan Johnson the guitar player have formed a group called Deny The Fallen (The album symptoms of eternity). Definitely recommend a first listen to that… but these guys have only gotten better with age and time. Obsessions was definitely their peak record.
Just saw them live for the 4th time and the first time since 1990 at the Immortal festival in Ohio labor day weekend. They played Friday night of a 3 day festival.
RockHard Magazine (2nd biggest metal magazine in Germany) voted their album "Obsessions" in March 1991 (I believe) as album of the month! It really got great critics, their best IMO as well.
My first time checking out one of your videos; I love your style. This is a great song and album, but I would recommend masters command even more than this. Rey Parra has to be one of my favourite singers of all time, and an absolutely phenomenal band.
Me too. LOVE SW. Obsessions is probably my favorite as well. Although I came into the band with their debut so it has a soft spot. The title track of the debut is one of my all-time favorite metal tunes.
Shane, Sacred Warrior does have a video for "Waiting In Darkness" from about 8 years ago, though its with new at the time vocalist Eli Prinsen who has a slightly lower register than Ray, but fills in nicely enough.
Sacred Warrior is always been compared to Queensryche, hence the Christian Queensryche, but now that you've mentioned Ray Parra's voice is similar to Michael Kiske and Rik Emmett, I hear it, but many will still compare the band as Queensryche due to making of the Wicked Generation album similar to Operation Mindcrime concept. Ray Parra has joined with other Christian metal musicians and put together a band named Worldview. Sacred Warrior will doing a festival with other 80's Christian rock and metal bands(Barren Cross/Petra/Les Carlsen(Bloodgood)/Fear Not/ Whitecross/Saint/Daniel Band...etc.) on Sept. 2/3/4/2022 in Versailles, OH
Master’s Command is my fav album of theirs, since ‘91… perhaps it’s because that’s the only album I ever bought! I love it and listen every year, without fail, yet I never investigated any other albums!!! Weird
This guy's reactions are priceless....ha! I been listing to Sacred Warrior since 1991. Here are some other bands Whitecross, Holy Soldier, Guardian, Barren Cross, Deliverance. Cool shirt.... I saw Ghost in NC and got to meet the whole band after the show without there masks on. No cameras where allowed and phones off.
Hey. Catching up on the stuff I missed weeks ago. Another favorite from the 80's. I honestly only like the first two albums, though I own all of them-- studio albums, at least. Honestly though this is not the best track on the album, "Children of the Light", "Day of the Lord", and "Stay Away From Evil" have it beat showing the band at its power metal nibbling on the edges of progressive doom metal best. Drummer Tony Velasquez one of my al time favorite rock drummers. Oh. Yeah. Do Chrystavox. . . "Snakes In the Grass" is a good one. It's got that tail end of the glam/hair metal phase flavor to it. Otherwise their track, "It's All Right (To Rock N' Roll)" is a long time guilty pleasure. Great track.
Love Sacred Warrior. Been a fan of theirs since the beginning. My ranking of their albums goes as follows: 1. Obsessions 2. Rebellion 3. Wicked Generation 4. Master's Command 5. Waiting In Darkness Often compared to Queensryche, SW carved out a niche in the Christian music market by their excellent musicianship, writing, and recording of quality power metal. Rey Parra is one of the best vocalists around. Bruce Swift is one of the best guitarists around. Tony Velazquez is one of the best drummers around. Excellent vid, Shane. More of this please.
Sacred Warrior was one of the first Progressive Christian metal bands. I personally think the album Master's Command is their best album. No they are still going. They put out an album titled Waiting in Darkness in 2013 with a different lead singer. And I believe they are working on a new album. If you ever do Holy Soldier my all time favorite song by them is When the Reign Comes Down. And if you do I will tell you a story about the band that I got straight from the lead singer himself.
That was worth a sub click for me dude, good entertainment, SW the most underrated Christian metal band for sure, they were the psuedo Queensryche imo, listen to the 4th lp Obsessions but I think Masters Command was their best
I have a vague recollection of hearing this band name way back but know absolutely nothing about them otherwise. Agreed that the opening riff was very Britny Fox-ish (Long Way to Love specifically)....that was my immediate first thought. The hook I found somewhat reminiscent of Journey's Separate Ways, probably just because of the meter. This lost me just a little bit when it slowed down but overall I thought it was a decent, solid jam worthy of horns. 🤘
Another band I frequently listened to; though I didn't like all their songs. Stay Away from Evil I would highly recommend a listen. Wicked Generation, and Obsessions were great releases IMO.
A great Christian Metal Album to sample would be “Martin Simpson’s Destroyer of Death Eternal Reign” This Album was released Sept of 2024. You will not be Disappointed My favorites( All of them LOL ) But among those: Destroyer of Death War Within Never Surrender Rapture Dragon Defeated
I've been a fan of Sacred Warrior since their beginning. I had the opportunity to see them a couple of times live. They are one of the best Christian Metal bands around.
I really appreciate you giving the Christian bands a shot on your channel.
Killer band that I have been listening to since my high school days...And Rey Parra is without a doubt one of the all time vocal greats!
Love Sacred Warrior! They have a special place in my heart. I went to the same church that several band members went to. My favorite album is Rebellion. Mostly due to it being their first. I was at a few of their early concerts. My dad even loved their music. He would go watch them practice.
Debbie. Was that the Warehouse Church in Aurora?

Rey Parra Is a very good vocalist. Bruce Swift is an awesome guitarist the whole band is talented.
Please pray for Rey Parra he suffers from obesity. I do not want him to die. He is an amazing person and has a truly blessed voice.
Saying words in your head isn't going to stop someone from eating food.@@fullvelocityx
@@mrtoothless Prayer is ridiculously powerful, it’s not just words.

So looking forward to seeing them this summer at The Immortal Festival

Check out Miss Linda from my favorite album of theirs, "Wicked Generation"
Big fan of Sacred Warrior. “Obsessions” is my favorite album of theirs. Great vocals, drums and guitar work.
Me too. LOVE SW. Obsessions is probably my favorite as well. Although I came into the band with their debut so it has a soft spot. The title track of the debut is one of my all-time favorite metal tunes.
Sacred Warrior Rebellion (1988) is my favorite CD by far and the song Rebellion.

They actually just had a show with Queensryche recently :) and they will be performing in Chicago next week!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful band and song!!!

Sacred Warrior reminds me of Queensryche Geoff Tate

Totally agree with When the Reign comes down. One of the best songs of Holy Soldier
Michael. I think the band is going to focus more on classic lineup one-off shows. I got sick in 2021 so the new album had to be put on hold.
@@erikschelling2077 Thanks for the update. Are you singing for any other bands now?
@@MichaelBuchanan-69 chance I may do something with Jon Johnson producing.
Second, "When the Reign Comes Down" that or "Virtue and Vice"
I know a story, too, and it has to do with that very track.
Tony is one of the best drummers around
Yup, his drumming was part of how I leanred the double bass drum
That was worth a sub click for me dude, good entertainment, SW the most underrated Christian metal band for sure, they were the psuedo Queensryche imo, listen to the 4th lp Obsessions but I think Masters Command was their best
The lead singer sounds like Rob Halford and Geoff Tate.
Shane I have a request if you feel like doing it Believer-Shadow of Death from the album Extraction from Mortality Thank You!
Whoaaahh no Holy Soldier yet?? …in for a treat

I'm still friends with Bruce Swift. The guitarist.
Listen to Savior Machine
Rey Parra sounds a bit like Geoff Tate.
They should have been bigger than stryper

Obsessions is best album....
Geoff Tate inspired
A great Christian Metal Album to sample would be “Martin Simpson’s Destroyer of Death Eternal Reign”
This Album was released Sept of 2024.

My favorites( All of them LOL )
But among those:
Destroyer of Death
War Within
Never Surrender
Rapture
Dragon Defeated
React to Shores in Flames by Bathory

Sacred Warrior Are Not Black Metal
No where near, but that is the name of the song.
