    Sad to hear that Ted passed away. He was a good person and a tremendous drummer. Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance is my favorite. I loaned it to a friend for a weekend in high school who was into Metallica and Pantera. He returned it Monday and told me he almost blew his speakers. Apparently he turned it way up expecting Christian music to be quieter. He said the album freaked him out and he felt more comfortable listening to Pantera 😂

    This was a special album for me and what a great track.
    Ted's passing, like Michael (of Bloodgood) has certainly been a time of emotional weight and introspection. While we will miss them terribly, thank God for the time we did have.

    Thank Shane and great reaction! It was hard to pick just one song off that whole album. This was their first “hit” though if I recall. Tourniquets guitars (and Deliverance) sounded massive back in the day. Ark of Suffering are also really good.

    Gonna miss Ted. What a great writer and performer he was. Some awesome Tourniquet tunes include Phantom Limb, Tomb of Gilgamesh, A Dog's Breakfast, Hand Trembler, and Viento Borrascoso. But you really can't go wrong, because there are no bad Tourniquet tracks.

    One of my favorite metal bands of all time! The band is most likely over with now that Ted has passed. He pretty much ran the band the past few years. The original singer and two guitarists have a new band called FLOOD which I highly recommend! Hey Shane I recommend their song War in the sky. Love your channel. Great job!

      Yeah, absolutely no way the band could ever exist without Ted. His cobtribution in the songwriting, arrangements, lyrics, overall sound is so huge you couldn’t have a believable Tourniquet without Ted. The last about 10-15 years of the bands career was more like Ted’s solo project.

    Very fitting to react to tourniquet after Ted‘s passing. I personally wish it was a different song off the album, but it’s still awesome. Tourniquet had fantastic drumming, cool vocals, and intricate thrashy goodness, Also, stop the bleeding is my favourite album cover of all time. I saw someone mentioned that Gary Lenaire and Guy Ritter are in Flood. Any fans of old school Tourniquet should check it out. It’s phenomenal.

    This was a great album debut. Guy Ritter had a unique voice, sometimes using King Diamond-like vocals. Gary Lenaire was the lead guitarist and then you had Ted Kirkpatrick who was a beast on drums. Ted was the main song writer on this album; however Guy Ritter and Gary Lenaire contributed quite a bit on this album. Ark of Suffering is another standout on this album. They did a video for that song (should be on RUclips). The song is about animal abuse. Funny thing was that MTV would not play that video back in the day. That should be a first listen as well. Been really enjoying your channel and your love and passion for music. Keep up the great work 👍🤟

    The original lineup was ted kirkpatrick, guy ritter, and gary lenaire. throughout their history they also had erik mendez, and victor macias. guest appearances include marty friedman on the album where moths and rust destroy, and bruce franklin also on where moths and rust destroy. they are known for their stance against animal cruelty and their use of medical terms and songs titles. they actually had a video banned by mtv for ark of suffering off their first album stop the bleeding. unfortunately they never get the credit they deserve because they are a christian band.

    Jams for Jesus!!! 🤘🙏 Maybe I would have paid more attention in Vacation Bible School during my childhood days in the Midwest if had stuff like this to rock out to, instead of having to sing standards like Michael Row the Boat Ashore. This was decent for me...and again, if I were not paying close attention to the lyrics and/or didn't know from anything else, I would not peg this as Christian metal.

    A tale of two bands is what you get here. Since Ted took over Tourniquet you get the history of the band that he wanted everyone to know. If you talk to the other members of the band you get a totally different story. Whichever one is correct who knows. Occording to RItter and Lenaire they started the band and Ted came in after. Ted also played drums for Trouble on tour before joining Tourniquet. If you go back and look into the liner notes you don't see Ted's name being mentioned as song writer often on the early (better) albums.
    Now with that being said, Tourniquet is a phenomenal band. Kind of a cross between King Diamond and tradition trash. Their first three albums are brilliant. They had two different singers in Guy Ritter and Gary Lenaire. After Guy Ritter left the band to me they just lost their signature sound and then when Gary Lenaire left then band they really lost all resemblance to the Tourniquet sound (This would have been the time Ted took over the band) Yes they still put out some decent music here and there.

    • @jarnolehtinen2269
      @jarnolehtinen2269 Год назад +1

      Definitely three eras of the band. The first three records, then the next one was the first stint with Ted’s dominance and the last era of a few odd recordings which were of varying quality but contained some incredibly good tracks here and there. That last stint really was just Ted’s solo projects.

    • @Airola
      @Airola Год назад +1

      I went back and looked into the liner notes:
      STOP THE BLEEDING - 10 songs
      Kirkpatrick - 4 songs
      Lenaire - 4 songs
      Ritter - 3 songs
      PSYCHO SURGERY - 9 songs
      Kirkpatrick - 6 songs
      Lenaire - 3 songs
      Ritter - 2 songs
      PATHOGENIC - 12 songs
      Kirkpatrick - 7
      Lenaire - 4
      Ritter - 2
      Macias - 1
      Only the debut album had the songs made more evenly with each band member and the second album already started to have Ted as the main song writer.
      It's true that Ted joined the band after Lenaire and Ritter already were together. And the name Tourniquet was chosen by Ritter before Ted joined, I think (not completely sure about that). Lenaire seems to count in the years his and Ritter's band was called Holy Danger as years of Tourniquet, so that's not completely honest take to the history of Tourniquet either. However, I believe some of the Ritter/Lenaire songs in Stop the Bleeding were at least partly written while they were Holy Danger.
      Anyway, another somewhat similar case is with Stratovarius where Timo Tolkki joined an already formed band, but he ended up being the main songwriter very soon while the other band members slowly changed (currently the oldest members of that band joined the band for the fourth and fifth albums - even Timo Tolkki is not part of the band anymore).
