Darrell Mansfield, a blues man, produced and/or engineered this album and that was the reason I bought it. It did not disappoint. Their music had a harder edge than Stryper’s and their lyrics were great. Bloodgood and Stryper continue to be my favorite metal bands to this day, but I never got to see Bloodgood live. Their musicianship, song writing and lyrics were top notch.
Give Narnia a shot. They don't have much of a following in the US but they've toured with Stryper and Yngwie Malmsteen has noted how much their guitarist, CJ, was influenced by him .
The drummer passed away about a year before Michael Bloodgood passed. It has saddened me as I have been a fan since they debuted in 1986 with their self titled album and opened for Stryper in Portland, Oregon on the Soldiers Under Command tour.
I have been a fan of Bloodgood since the 80s I was 13 when I saw them in concert back then...I never forgot that show it was completely amazing...and Whats following the grave was one of the songs i heard live man you just dont know how cool that song really is til you heard it live...i was one of the blessed ones to experience it...I will always be a Bloodgood fan they were my fave band since junior high to now...R.I.P Michael 🤘😎🤘
Had the privilege of helping promote a show at a local rock club in Springfield, Missouri in the late 80's. Great guys!!! Fantastic live band... That night, a girl was going to commit suicide and changed her mind.
Got this album way back when it first came out. It ROCKED my world. I didn't know Christian music, let alone heavy metal, could sound that good. My absolute favorite song of theirs is "Alone In Suicide" from their Detonation album. It is a banger of a song.
I bought a copy of "Trenches of Rock" on Bluray. Worth Every Penny. The remasters were more or less to get more of the bass presence (especially on _Rock In a Hard Place_ ) and widen the stereo image a bit
I was at Michael’s very last show in Ohio and met him and he signed my vinyl. Chris Jericho was there to emcee the show in Ohio. Michael had a massive stroke literally a day or so after the show. Yes there is a documentary out.
You are a funny guy bro! Loved your Review! I was the Drummer on the 1st Bloodgood Rec! Also, first Member to join the Band! Blessings to you my friend!
Bloodgood! (Miss you brother Michael). Of all the 80s metal bands, probably the one I listen to most nowadays. Sadly, I never got to see them in concert. I always really dug the sound of this album. David's guitar tone is just sits on the line between classic tube fuzz to classic metal crunch. The tone on the next album, _Detonation_ even more wild. Top tracks: "Alone in Suicide" "Top of the Mountain" (Live version) "Rounded are the Rocks" "Crucify" + "The Messiah" @Shane Diablo I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I did listen to a bit of the Carpenters way back when. "We've Only Just Begun", especially. something of a family favorite round here.
Bought the first album when I was 16 1986 sawthem twice for their 2nd Album Detonation talked to The whole Band and Actually got their drummer in the door at one of the shows because the door guy didn't know he was with band Michael was a great guy I still have his autograph. Saw their very last show in Versailles Ohio February 19th 2022 he had a stroke either later that night or the next day. Live the Band and Music my favorite songs are Blacksnake and Demon on the run but love all of it.
well, let's check it out, I've never heard Blacksnake so we will do it in your honor! Kapow! Hold tight, might be a few weeks BUT we will check it out on the first listens!
Bloodgood were pioneers in Christian metal. With the passing of Michael it's been confirmed that the band is no more. Sad to hear of Michael's passing. Detonation is by far my favorite Bloodgood album. Michael was the bas player and did backup vocals. To me when David Zaffiro (guitar) left the band they just weren't the same. While not my most favorite song this is a good song. And speaking of Tourniquet we all woke up to the news on Saturday morning that Ted Kirkpatrick passed (drummer) Both bands were working on a new album. Not sure as to what's going to happen on that front.
Good stuff - great history. Out of the Darkness is my favorite release. Top of the Mountain my favorite tune by them. Still waiting on a reaction by The Showdown from Temptation Come My Way.
Jainda When I first heard Christian heavy metal, I was shocked because I was a fan of Petra. I didn’t know there was such a thing as Christian heavy metal thought it was Roxanne I was very shocked, but I really did. I really do love them because they were really pull you into the message of Jesus Christ and I do love Christian heavy metal and Christian rock although I don’t call Tia call bellowing but that’s not that I don’t like it. I just can’t call it singing
Anguish and Pain,Eat the Flesh, Seven, Stand in the Light, Accept the Lamb and Crucify are some worthy tracks from them. More Tourniquet please and check out Believer a more thrash based Christian metal band. Their first 2 albums are great.
Not a huge fan of this song, but fitting with the recent passing of Michael Bloodgood. Their album Detonation is one of the few albums I would consider perfect.

Just discovered Bloodgood yesterday! Awesome band. I am a huge Stryper fan and Bloodgood is right up there with them.

Wore this cassette of this album out in my car’s tape player. I listened to BLACKSNAKE off this album repeatedly! That song was my favorite!

Wish I saw them in concert but I never will no I never saw him in concert but I spoke to him on Facebook about his bass guitars
I had this tape when i was 9 years old.
You have to do Bloodgoods “Crucify”, “She’s gone” and “Alone in suicide” songs. It’s probably their best stuff.

Michael bloodgood is the bassist
check out Petra "Jekyl and Hyde"
Hey Paul welcome! Glad to have you here! I checked it out a few months back, here ya go >> ruclips.net/video/YrplVnBFYew/видео.html
Michael Bloodgood play the bass.
RIP Michael, even though my knowledge and scope of this band is basically nothing. This tune unfortunately didn't do much for me.
Les has a solo project neither is tourniquet
Try Trytan Christian group
Now that would be worth the price of admission.
