I used to live in Nashville and ended up going to the same church as the lead singer. He was one of the nicest, most soft spoken guys I've ever met. I would've never guessed he was in a hard rock band. I love that you're channel is open to all expressions of hard rock/metal.

I got to see Whitecross in my hometown of Pikeville, KY back in 1991 largely due to the fact that the guy who promoted them somehow got the biggest radio station in the area to play a couple of Whitecross songs pretty much around the clock for a few weeks. Because of Jesus was one of the songs played, on a top-40 pop station no less! The Whitecross gig at Pikeville College was SOLD OUT as a result and this was in a small eastern KY town! There are decent concert venues there now, but in 1991 there was nothing! Great band with a world-class guitarist in Rex Carroll! Thanks for the reaction video Shane!

Pikeville, wow! I'm over in Dry Ridge. My father in law grew up in Turkey Creek. We were just out that way last year. Small town for sure. Whitecross must've lit that town up! Awesome, brother!

Whitecross guitarist Rex Caroll was also in a band called King James with Stryper bassist Tim Gaines & Stryper drummer Robert Sweet.

I should remember by now that this is the band with the Stephen Pearcy sounding guy....a decent jam, especially on a Sunday! Now, if only the real Stephen had a little bit of "Because of Jesus" is his life, maybe he would not have turned into such a hot mess but I guess he had some life lessons to learn. Also, if this kind of music were around the while I was a kid in Vacation Bible School (in the early to mid-70's), maybe I would have paid more attention.....

Back in the day in high school, I had a tape on which I’d recorded this album on one side and “State of Control” by Barren Cross on the other side. Wore that one out in my car! Brings back memories.

I grew up listening to Whitecross, Petra, Holy Soldier, Gaurdian, Stryper, and Tourniquet. All awesome bands! They definitely were a huge influence in my style of music. Of course, when I became a teenager, I started listening to the mainstream stuff too, but the Christian metal c'mon in my opinion, is still just as legit. Diggin your channel man. Subbed!

Actually the bio gets something wrong.Rex Carrol left the band before the Equilibrium album. The band wen in more of an alt metal direction. It was controversial among fans because it was so different, but Equilibrium is my favorite of theirs. Resurrection Band and Holy Soldier are also well worth checking out.

The Dove awards is an equivalent to the Grammy awards for the Christian market.
I have actually meet them at Cornerstone festival in 1987 and listen to their master tapes for this album. Extremely poor quality, but it turned extremely good due to post-production. The 1987 album was the re-recording of this album ...

By Demand is a best of compilation. 1987 was a re-recording of the 1987 self titled debut album Whitecross. You left off the album Flytrap.

Rex Carroll, Oz Fox, Michael Sweet could shred with the best of them back in the day! Christian metal bands could bring it! Whitecross has a more blues based sound but they flat out rock!

Kudos to Mr. Diablo for reacting to Christian metal. There are certain media outlets that refuse to. And believe it or not, it's probably due to the idea of Separation of Church and State. In other words (tongue in cheek), Mr. Diablo would theoretically be guilty of proselytizing.
However, Enigma records was in favor of pushing Stryper's Christianity. They felt it made them unique as I understand it.
