Yes, kill Mad Dog! I despise him! My favourite moment was when Zane sacrificed himself for Syrus, and told him how proud he was of him. That was really sweet, and I must admit I did cry a bit because Syrus was so upset
I agree with this list, but I think Zane's transformation into Evil Zane was such a lost opportunity. I think it would have been better to let his dark side develop over a few episodes, where we see him question his old duelling style in more depth and see a lot of his inner conflict before he decides to stop respecting his opponents. And also, it would have been so much better to see him duel edgier opponents who would influence Zane's duelling style, and not Mad Dog. I don't know what Mad Dog is like in the original, but the dub...he made me want to vomit.
in the original he severally mocked zane by calling him a pro league loser, if your gonna lose at least make it graceful. Even the guy who set up the match made him question his morals
I agree, I would have liked to see some more development of the particular character arc. I don't know how it went in the Japanese version, but the English dub never saw Zane ACTUALLY recovering from the Dark Zane period. I would have liked a little more emotional development, with him questioning his decisions and him slowly letting people back into his heart, especially Syrus. It's already clear that no matter how much they love each other, Zane and Syrus can have a very strained relationship. I feel like the Hell Kaiser incident could have been used to strengthen their relationship because I feel like Syrus would have some grief with Zane for how he treated the younger brother back in Season 1.
My favorite moments are actually the moments between Zane and Syrus. Both when he sacrifices himself and his spirit key to Camula to save him and when he says that Syrus has surpassed him by evolving the Underworld Deck and vows that the two of them will become a tag team in the pros.
Zane's actor Scotty Ray is in the top ten of the franchise's actors in terms of performance. Much like Green & Stuart, he knew how to sell every scene he was in with the right amount of over the top acting. Did he return for any other series?
I was really sad when he "died" against yubel that duel was amazing, but that seal of orichalcos type card that yubel used was broken and it meant to counter zane otk style

Zane was honestly way more intense in the dub for that number 1 scene, which shouldn't be surprising because his dub voice actor has also voiced the most badass version of the Shredder in the 2003 TMNT series
I personally think Zane's duel with Syrus should have been on this list. He goes from a cool but loving brother to a fierce, heartless predator even to his little brother who he nearly lost his soul to protect. I think it's quite poetic to see the change in Zane from Syrus' POV.
Still hoping we get to see Kaiba vs Zane with both using their modern decks. It would be absolutely cool considering their attitudes when dueling. Hahahaha
3:10 it's hard to believe the voice actor for Zane's opponent when he goes all evil in the dub is Sean Schemmel. But then again Sean did voice dub Jinzo in episode 14 of Yugioh GX.
Can someone explain to me why Zane went normal again ? He went evil when he dueled in a cage. Then he dueled syrus and basically turtored him. But later in the series he wanted to help jaden and his friends to return to their own dimension and to defeat yubel. He seemed to be a good guy during the rescue mission. Did I mis a episode where he changed back to a good guy again ?
No one truly knows. My guess is that after a while, Zane started to calm down when he got bored with how easy he was winning and remember how close Syrus had gotten to defeat him. It literally took every card Zane had to win and if his last card he played WASN'T a De-Fusion, then he would have lost after Syrus's next turn via deck-out.
My favourite line was when they were in the other dimension and the moth duelist challenges him. He says "Ever since we arrived here, I've been itching to crack my knuckles against a strong duelist and this fiend might be the perfecct candidate." So cold and blunt. I love the Dark Zane.
The worst thing about duel with shock cage is not fact that enemy was crazy over the top,but fact that after zane gets ultimate cyber dragon fusion ,they decide to scrap his deck and give him new one ,killing all progress he made in strategy and his play style :(
Zane is a great character, Crow from Yugioh 5ds is my favorite Yugioh character out of all the yugioh anime. My favorite Yugioh GX character is Aster Phoenix. IMO your list is great, I have no problems with it.

Well this moment is more for the ds game spirit call where Hell Kaiser can be found randomly at the evening to night for challenge you with his deck of chimeratech overdragon he could even challenge in the early time you be there and is cool as well some cards can give a chance like book of moon but mostly is exciting to face him alike because his own theme prove is a real deal

His character role & he's Cyber legacy. He is known to finish the game. as soon as possible. Even if it costs....... his own life points. He likes to go for End Game. I love his character. Fits him well 😊
What I loved about Zane’s deck is that no matter how many times his Cyber End Dragon got destroyed he always found a way to bring it back and buff it crazy

Apart from stuff like Magic Cylinder, OTK monsters like Chimeratech Overdragon are satisfying as heck to use. Delay the enemy for a while, using throwaway Machine monsters and at least one Cyber Dragon, regardless whether or not they go to the graveyard (since CO's fusion effect uses fusion materials from both sides), then use Polymerization (obviously mandatory) and Cybernetic Fusion Support (the latter is heavily recommended) and watch the heads roll (unless the enemy has something like Magic Cylinder to fuck you over).
I feel like they dropped the ball with Zane. In the beginning they build him up as this unbeatable badass, then he passes his torch to Jaden when he beats him then when he lost to Aster he turns to the dark side and becomes a merciless devil. then he gets a heart attack and now due to his health he can't duel again. I feel like they tried to do too much with Zane and he just came out wrong. But the thing that dissapointed me the most with what they did with Zane. Is that Syrus never got to over come his Brother. He dosen't get the chance to prove himself to his brother and the worst thing about it is. Zane just gave his cards to Syrus. Didn't let Syrus earn them. he just gave them to him for one of his duels. That to me was the biggest cop out ever.
At the beginning yes. But throughout the series he got better. Don't you remember that he was the only one of Jadens crew to move up in the ranks. If Syrus beat Zane it would have made a great conclusion to Syrus's character arc. Also so he wouldn't be number 9 on my top ten rival characters list
I remember Jaden turning down becoming Ra yellow after defeating Jazz for the first time. But I don't remember him being offered Obilisk Blue. Also Bastian left duel academy with that scientist duelist after Jaden beat him. As for Syrus vs Hassleberry. They did have a duel where Syrus won.
The dubbing for the underground duel was horrible but Zane's english VA went hard in that scene. You could feel how frustrated Zane was the entire time. "I'm in a destructive mood today."
