The VXL version looks great. I wasn't expecting to see the 540XL in there. It should be a great performer judging by what a Hoss performs like with a 4S esc and battery.. I'm fine with Traxxas continuing to evolve their basic 1/10 4x4 chassis. It's a good design and it's easy to modify and work on. Great to see some new basic shocks with threaded upper perches. Those are long overdue.
These are really cool. 1/8 buggies are my absolute favorite RC platform, so it's great to see Traxxas getting into it. I think they are most fun on a track, though. They like a relatively smooth surface so out in the wild I prefer a truck with bigger tires. 1/8 race buggies are super expensive so I'd love to see more interest in budget 1/8 racing with these and Arrma buggies.
I have a few Traxxas cars, but at the price point of the new Jato VXL I would take the Typhon 6S for sure. Also, Traxxas cannot include adjustable links on the VXL version? Costs of add-ons to be able to do basic tuning on the car have to be added to the total price for most.
I HOPE they make a Nitro version for us 🙏 to guarantee success with a new Nitro these days, just make it the fastest Nitro you can buy straight out the box.
Not so many Traxxas haters here 👍👍 Not sure if I would have got the 2S model but the VXL is a definite 💯 Traxxas distracted us with the 2S model for last week or so then BAM here is the 4S coming soon....yeah I'll take it!!!!
I think the vxl looks cool but for how much? For $300 I can get a typhon 3s that is awesome. And for $450 I can get a 6s arrma typhon. So pricing is important. When you offer a 2s version that is more than a 3s typhon its going to be a tough sale for most of us. If you offered the 3s vxl for$400 yeah it would sell but if it is $450 for that kind of money you can get the 6s typhon!
100% if im not mistaken its just a slash 4x4 lcg chassis if im not mistaken. For sure Not worthy of the name jato! I was really hoping for an actual jato maybe 4wd or larger scale still nitro and an electric version. High hopes! 😂
I agree the jato name doesn't really fit. Bandit 4x4 is very fitting for what it the vehicle is and provides imo. then save the jato name for a "sledge/hoss" like super speed buggy/truggy basher platform
How about the off set on the wheels is not industry standard, so you will not be able to use Proline, JConepts or any other major brand otherwise the car will be too narrow… correct me if I’m wrong but the VXL wheels look to be at least 1/2” offset.
Looks pretty cool, but I just don’t understand the point of a buggy basher. I’d rather have protection for the shock towers. The second one he shows makes more sense
Traxxas did amazing job making a buggy but for the price of $350 i preferred arrma typhon 3s i hope they will realize that other buggy on the market has already 3s fir that price
Non adjustable links on a race designed buggy is wild imo. I love traxxas but the stupid tax this time is so high ALSO Y TF does the pink model not have the pink gtr shocks. y blue. like. i love you traxxas but you make me so mad
@@erictessier9887 i can look past the price. ill sadly pay the stupid tax each time mainly since i love the color options. but the vxl not having any adjustable links for a race inspired car is just like... idk. im bitching and moaning about something that i probably will never even touch if i had the option but thats not the point really. the point is that you are paying over $500 for a 4s brushless car with a video titled "engineered for drivers" and it lacks basic "driver" options. maybe if an "ultimate" version comes out... idk. at this point i might just price out buying it as parts and building it the way i want it myself. i love how tough traxxas cars are and am a bit too hesitant on trying out a different brand just yet.
@zellegoodwin9046 I have tons of both arrma and Traxxas and like them both equally but I just think the pricing on these in particular are about $75-$100 off on both 2 and 4s for what you get compared to similar options available from other companies.
@ I walked into my hobby shop, they had a blue one. I bought it🤷🏻♂️ lol idk I’ve seen some pictures of them on Facebook? Maybe for sale at hobby shops and not online yet? Maybe we all got lucky idk
I think the general consensus from all the comments on other youtubers channels as well as here is no one is happy with this release, mainly the name usage and price for a 2s rc let alone the price of the 4s. A lot of us were really expecting an actual jato update. Kind of sad. I am intrigued about the mini maxx even though that should also be 3s out of the box as well.
If I’m buying a 1/8 buggy it’s going to be Kyosho not these plastic fantastics. What does the word “Jato” mean? It’s an electric Bandit Geezuz disappointing🙄
Way overpriced in my opinion. I'd rather buy a Slash Ultimate for less $$$ than the Jato VXL. Kind of weird how they are upcharging so much more for the Jato when it shares the same platform as a Slash... Traxxas competing against themselves lol.
Traxxas has some of the best plastic blends and most durable trucks on the rtr market. Underbuilt? Nah. Underpowered? If you're an experienced rc driver, then maybe you can consider it underpowered. Overpriced? That's subjective, but it's in the same bracket as the slash 4x4 bl-2s.
I gotta say not to happy with this. looks like they chopped the body to fit the slash chassis and bl -2s system in a supposedly 1/8 scale buggy. Seem like a joke to me but that’s just my opinion. Enjoy your videos though.
Worst release traxxas of 2024. Its a joke of a racer compared to real racing RC, Even the arrma TLR beats it out of the box with all the settings it has. It falls short in the bashing, has so much plastic for the price it should have lots more aluminum. The 6s typhon and corallys counterparts are priced lower or slightly higher and has a full 6s power system and parts. Im so confused on wth this is supposed to be. But im sure there will be diehard fans who will burn 530$ on it+ extras
1/8 buggy from Traxxas...YES!!!!
The vxl looks so good
$529 is diabolical for this buggy
These prices are crazy! I actually like the buggies! $250 for the BL2S, $399 for the VXL would have been great!
I mean it shouldn’t be a surprise, slash 4x4 patform has always been around $329. $20 new hotness tax
Has everyone forgot about the Sledge? I see this as basically a track ready sledge
Could be fun on the track.
And the bl2s version might be great for a first Rc car or kids.

Traxxas makes strange decisions.
They have a dedicated fan base who will buy whatever they release.
@@johnnystrand8433 I'm new to Traxxas and i can confirm this is true
@@johnnystrand8433 yeah its insane
If they called it bandit 4x4 it was spot on

Its a bad racer out of the box. They market it as being Capable. It has 0 tunability of a racer
I will be buying vxl 4S jato 4X4 that's the one I buying thanks for the update and stay safe
I have a few Traxxas cars, but at the price point of the new Jato VXL I would take the Typhon 6S for sure. Also, Traxxas cannot include adjustable links on the VXL version? Costs of add-ons to be able to do basic tuning on the car have to be added to the total price for most.

@@billzkustomz They can keep it!
Or if u wanna race and bash the TLR.... who in their mind will take this instead of the TLR to race
I like them!
Still looking for Jato 3.3 similarity and we are not april 1st...
Was disappointed this isn't a true jato. It's a bandit 4x4, which is fine. But there's no need for traxxas to lie about reviving the jato
I’m glad it’s not a Jato, have been wanting a Traxxas buggy for a long time.
To each their own
They should have named it something else point blank.
@@Dankerkitty truthfully that's the only acceptable thing is for it to be named anything else

Why does every traxxas look the same to me?
Awesome car and Happy Halloween 🎃
I might try to update my Slash with the parts from the Jato...
The vxl looks decent
We saw the leaked pics 3 weeks ago. I thought it looked sweet.
I agree the jato name doesn't really fit. Bandit 4x4 is very fitting for what it the vehicle is and provides imo. then save the jato name for a "sledge/hoss" like super speed buggy/truggy basher platform

I am wondering if that center brace will fit on the LCG Slash 4x4’s. Best looking part of the car.
Probably not. This chassis looks longer
I wish yea. I wonder if it's actually the slash raptor R chassis which is a bit longer
How about the off set on the wheels is not industry standard, so you will not be able to use Proline, JConepts or any other major brand otherwise the car will be too narrow… correct me if I’m wrong but the VXL wheels look to be at least 1/2” offset.
I like your content and lot more when you aren't reviewing traxxas garbage
Great video
More of a basher, nothings adjustable...All fixed points. Tough competition at this price point.
Looks pretty cool, but I just don’t understand the point of a buggy basher. I’d rather have protection for the shock towers. The second one he shows makes more sense
I don't really care if traxxas called it a "sock". The vxl looks great, and it's something somewhat new.
Traxxas did amazing job making a buggy but for the price of $350 i preferred arrma typhon 3s i hope they will realize that other buggy on the market has already 3s fir that price
They could have at least put some sway bars and metal axles on it for that price. I was excited about this drop, but now I think I'll pass.
That looks like an updated ESC. I wonder if they fixed the heat issues.
top speed of ... 28mph !!
Bls 2s and the 4s is redesigned yes. But no fans on esc and motor is diabolical on an enclosed body
Arrma and Corally do much better 1/8 buggies .
I will wait and see if they make a 6s version
Over $800
It looks awesome and extremely durable 👍great review 🤙
how many kvs are theese jato vxl motors?
540XL 2400kv
I'm looking forward to the VXL version
Has the release date been announced for the VXL version??
Coming early 2025 according to the Traxxas website.
@ thanks I didn’t see that 👍🏽
This is NOT a Jato, to me!!
I'm actually not a fan of this company.. BUT , this chassis has my attention.🧐
This should have been what the TRX-4 was (given that the TRX-1 and TRX-3 were buggies)
Looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it perform
Cool to see a buggy!
I'll take the VXL. I see you and MSM are besties now 😜😁 He's a cool guy.
Non adjustable links on a race designed buggy is wild imo. I love traxxas but the stupid tax this time is so high
ALSO Y TF does the pink model not have the pink gtr shocks. y blue. like. i love you traxxas but you make me so mad
Traxxas anti-innovation at its best.
All metal 6s Typhon for for $30 less 😂 I also really like Traxxas cars but their pricing on these are way out of whack.

Not for that price! They are really pushing out those 2s systems.
Those shock towers look questionable.
Uh, that's a big nope for me, No doubt it will be $1300 AUD when we get it down under. My Arrma Typhon has nothing to worry about.
I think this is a great way to honor and continue the Jato name!
I believe thees drive very well and are almost impossible to break, but coral etc went so insane power that thees looks underpowered
Arrma Typhon is a better value
The new Traxxas Hypergo! 😂😂😂 jk
For that price its not competitive with Arrma or Team Corally products. Traxxas continues to overcharge and be disappointing.
Rather pay extra for that legendary Traxxas parts support.
I can still easily get parts for my original E-Revo that’s over a decade old
Buggy looks nice but why in the world would they name something that looks nothing like its counterpart…
Picked up the bls2 version at the hobby shop today. Will all parts be transferable between the two models? If I want to upgrade?
How? It's not even for sale yet

Not a new shocks... old plastic body GTR shocks from the Jato 3.3.
Aw it's a 4x4 Bandit finally 😂 I'll pass
Sorry, but it's not a Jato.
Horrible
JUNK SO ANOTHER SLASH 4X4.... LAMEE

Why are people bitching about the name. Nitro is dead
Oh look another slash😂
Disappointment 😞 they could've came stronger than this I tried to overlook certain aspects about Traxxas but at this point there just taking our Cash
Who Da F is going to buy a 1/8 buggy with a basically brushed equivalent 2s system.
Arrma Typhon 3S for $330 OR the Traxxas Jato 2S for.........$350.....?? Only fanboys will get the Traxxas ripoff.
It's Not Epic Traxxas! Team Corally will get my buy in! Overpriced Traxxas as usual!
