- Join me as I take on the Tour Divide, a 4,300km unsupported bike race that will test you in every way imaginable. The Tour Divide follows the GDMBR and Continental Divide across Canada and the US, and explores some of the most beautiful places in North America, but that doesn't come without challenges.
Thank you to Hunt Bikes and POC for helping to make this journey possible, having a great team behind you makes the world of difference.

A wonderful document of this ride. I did it in 2022 and it was the hardest physical thing I've done in my life. I related to the ups and downs you experienced. What shocked me with this film was that you actually had the energy and where-with-all to actually film it. It was all I could do to keep going sometimes, and to take time out for shots, set up cameras, power up a drone, etc. is just amazing. What a great gift to future TD riders. Congrats on finishing both the ride and this film.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it! It can be tough out there for sure hey, and definitely a hard task to film the whole way. Often I have to convince myself to set up a shoot or get the drone out because I felt like I was racing the clock but I feel like I had a good balance in the end. Hope you had a good Tour mate!
@@JackScottkeogh I got food poisoning on day 2 - the day of the Wall. Then I hit the first multi-hour hike-a-bike through snow at Galton's Pass. It almost killed me. Then I started reading about all these people - 16 total - who had to be rescued via helicopter and realized this event was no joke. Like you, I just had to take it day by day. I wanted to quit often but somehow kept going. I couldn't believe I finished. I applaud your efforts to document the ride, and I think you did a very nice job at that (the drone footage and 3rd-person-view set up shots are really great). I find it sad that having one's ride filmed has become so controversial. Documenting something allows you to share it with others. I don't think I would have done the Tour Divide if I hadn't seen "I Just Want to Ride". Maybe others will do it because of your film. Cheers to that!
Thank you for making this beautiful video. Makes us mere mortals able to enjoy your pain from our couch. Big kudos for taking on such an epic adventure!
I noticed you have spd pedals but ypur shoes don’t look like regular bike shoes. Are you able to hike a bike woth those clips? Care to elaborate on your setup at some point, maybe in a video?
Sorry only just seeing this now! Yeah my shoes are great for hike a bike stuff, they're called Specialized Rime 2.0, definitely worth it if you know you'll be off the bike a bit. I also do have a gear breakdown video on my channel as well if you didn't come across it @@beardsonbikes
Hey Jack! This is Brian, rode with you over the pass into Idaho and that night we got stormed on in the Basin. Great video and congrats on your finish!
Brian! How are ya mate? Great to hear form you! You also mate, pleasure to ride with you and the guys
@@JackScottkeogh I’m great, thanks! You put in some big days after Wamsutter, really fun to watch your video and relive the ride.
Wow that's so cool.
Man you are so inspiring. Your mental strength just blows me away.
I watched the whole video from start to finish while sick on the sofa. This has made me feel so fortunate to have the things I have around me.
Thanks for showing me what is possible.
man what a compliment, thanks so much! Glad to be the source of inspiration!
Agreed! The mental fortitude (aside from the physical toll…!) needed to do this is just… 🤯💪🏼
I've watched a lot of Tour Divide films. Yours is one of the best Jack. Simple, but beautiful photography. You really got across just how hard the race must be. Truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing this.
Cheers James, massive compliment! Glad you enjoyed it mate
I hope you don't get tired of all the praise for your TD video, but it really is one of the best! Awesome job. I was out there this year so it was really fun to relive the mud and headwinds through your lens. But what an adventure and the feeling at the end makes all those hard times fade away and all those short encounters with people along the way make is a trip of a life time. Well done!
Well summed up mate! It's all the little things that make it such an epic journey. Maybe see you out there again one day!
I love all about this film: the stunning sceneries, the excellent music choice, the struggles and setbacks, but above all the high spirits and contagious enthusiasm of Jack. All of this makes me want to hop on my bike and do similar epic stuff!
Thanks for the thoughtful comment mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Jack, your journey on the Tour Divide is both inspirational and intense! The ups and downs, especially the bike mishap, kept me on the edge of my seat. Your positive outlook, even in the face of challenges, is truly admirable. Your shots of the scenery are breathtaking! Thanks for taking us along on this wild ride, and a massive shout-out to Hunt Bikes and POC for supporting you. Keep pushing, mate!
Cheers legend! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Howdy, great ride and video, congratulations! It is a huge feat to finish. Old road touring cyclist here, I've ridden half of the Great Divide. The Divide is a totally different creature and challenge than a long road tour crossing countries. No two days are the same. The mountains, weather, trail surface, climbs, even some descents are difficult. The easiest section is that 40 mile rolling area south of Lima, MT. The Great Basin can be nice if you get lucky, but wind, rain, heat all have to line up in your favor. At 68 years old, I chipped away at it for a month, 40-50 miles a day, your 200 mile day is epic! Thank you for an excellent view of this monster route.
Thanks Mike, you’re exactly right about no two days are the same out there! It’s an epic route, I’m happy you’ve experienced a bunch it of! Thanks for taking the time to comment
You hit the road Jack, glad you came back stronger, wiser, more humble, that was my take.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful journey with everyone. I plan to do the Divide in the next couple of years, cant wait. Thanks again🙏🙏👌👌👏👏
Cheers! You'll encounter some struggles but push through and I promise you'll never regret it!
And you did it again. Your experiences are just amazing and your ability to transfer your experience to the point of making us feel we're there with you... You have left me speechless and emotional one more time. I am deeply happy for you having achieved this personal goal. I can't wait for the next one 😊
Thank you so much for the kind words! I am glad you enjoyed this one also!
Just loved watching your movie. Will be following your next adventure. Congratulations
Absolutely brutal mate. Epic film, this was a TV on phone down type of edit.
The highs were super high, and the lows…oh man I felt for you. So glad you got your glasses back, and you’ve made me want a Land Cruiser now! 😅
Loved it - thanks so much for taking the time to edit and share with us.
Cheers mate! Appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
You'll never go wrong with a Land Cruiser!
Certainly NOT negative. You shared some of the reality..ups and downs of this monster of an event brilliantly. Thank you.
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
Congratulations on meeting your incredible challenge and staying with it all the way through. Your video editing was excellent, as well; thank you for sharing your adventure. Yes, very inspiring.
Thanks for putting this together Jack. While this feat captures the attention and interest of many, most will not have the opportunity to do this in their lifetime. So, it's amazing we get to see it through you! Thanks for documenting and sharing your journey. Congrats!
Thanks a ton mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
Unreal man,
Just finished the route on Sunday myself.
Was an incredible experience, thanks for doing such a great job documenting your experience.
Good luck with your future adventure.
Hell yeah! How was it out there?
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it
@@JackScottkeogh Loved the experience as a whole, had some tough days out there that’s for sure. Lucky I had a few friends along the route to stop into and relax with!
Back home to Aus next week!
What an amazing experience, Jack.
Thank you for sharing the magic with us.
Bri
Outstanding effort Jack, congratulations . You kept it real and shared every moment and that's how its done. You now have something no one can take away from you. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Isn't it strange that you can feel proud of someone you don't even know. But that was the feeling I had for you at the end there. So many issues on the route for you but you kept at it and didn't let any of it stop you in your tracks. Congrats lad.
You’re a legend, thanks mate!
Congratulations Jack.
What a nice, beautiful film.
You've managed to share the highs and lows of the route, while transmitting a sense of calm confidence that you would do it no matter what.
This film is the proof that good but also bad moments will both, in the end, become good memories that will last forever, and this notion should always fuel your motivation.
Wish everything good for you in your life.
Thanks for the nice comment mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it! You definitely need a mix of ups and downs to make for a great asdventure!
I love your film. I am currently in med school and find inspiration in you accomplishing hard things. I dream that one day I will get a chance to do it myself. For now, I will just enjoy watching you do it. Thank you
@@LukeM-v7g thanks a ton mate! Med school sounds pretty rad but I hope you also get some big adventures in after! Thanks for tuning in
Christmas Eve feeling sick and miserable then watched your video…geez I enjoyed it - the struggles, the wins, the scenery, the perseverance. Thanks so much for sharing, it’s cheered me right up.
Thank you! I hope you're feeling better soon!
Just awesome! Thanks for documenting the ride for us!!! No apologies necessary for being down at times as that’s part of the journey and most importantly you pressed on and over came. Be proud & loud!!!!!!
Thanks for the kind words mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Loving this wonderful video. Very inspiring man!!! Watched it a couple of times already. I also document my bike rides in the Philippines 🇵🇭, nothing close to this one. I can imagine all the hard work spent to this excellent film.
@@ianhow thanks for the kind words mate! I actually rode a lot of the last week with a buddy from the Philippines! Great country
Wow, absolutely beautiful. I felt I was there with you. Hopefully be riding the route in 2026, though not racing. Your film has inspired me to got out for a big ride tomorrow, so thanks for the inspiration and the great film.
Thanks a ton! And good luck out there in 2026!
What a journey Jack. Awesome headspace. I am from India and will plan the divide in the near future. PBP was an amazing ride in 2023 and looking forward to this adventure.
Enjoy it when you do get out there!
Thank you for this calm and authentic video. What a wonderful adventure you are sharing with us. It's amazing how you accept all obstacles and just keep going. I don't know what else to say. It really touched me! Thank you Jack 🤠
Thank you for such nice compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed the film!
What a fantastic piece of film that was, the cinematography the music the emotion, truly an amazing achievement with scenery just as pretty as heaven.
Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you liked it
Beautiful documentary . I live in fernie and we are so stoked for the TD athletes . I know the pain and struggles of bike packing having rode from Brisbane to Cairns in 1993. Well done sir. Well done. Bike packing has come a long way since 93.
Beautiful part of the world you live in! I'm very jealous! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
this is truly magical telling of this ride. A major inspiration to people who have never bike packed. I'm new to riding off-pavement and this is pushing me to find new routes and push what i'm looking at as possible. Congrats and thank you for taking us along for the ride!
Thanks mate! happy to hear that and thanks for dropping by with such a nice comment. Enjoy getting off road, it's much more enjoyable in my opinion!
I was visting Butte MT in June and learned about this event by seeing riders making their way through. I was really excited to find your film so I could see what your journey was like. Thank you for sharing, this was a wonderful watch.
Thanks for watching! Glad you got to see a bit of what we're all doing out there!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful journey!
You’re amazing Jack! An inspiring adventure that correlates with whatever you choose to take on in your life.
22:05 the blocked railway came straight from the set of the remake of 3:10 to Yuma!
Thank you very much for this film!
I won't do the race, but definitely will ride this trail!
After seeing your impression I am more than determent to do this.
I have some experience with long distance cycling (20.000 km)(TransAm plus and Prudoe Bay Panama City) with a recumbent. Now I will take a travel bicycle with Bike packing (much less gear) and enjoy the adventure!
In 20 months I will retire and do this! Thank you for this joy of watching. Yes I know it will be hard but I am stubborn.
From The Netherlands; Menno Dekhuyzen
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
I hope you enjoy yourself out there!
Mate, I’m a cyclist in Brisbane. Just an awesome video and congrats on putting yourself out there and documenting it. Not just for us but for yourself. Great achievement I may one day attempt.
Thanks mate! Good luck on your travels
I haven't even finished watching this vid and it's already sooo good. Amazing shots from various angles. Love that. Really helps to capture the enormous beauty around you.

Hi from mike A. From LA.CA. Thanks for this video. You and the other riders that entered this MOST EPIC JOURNEY have so much energy strength and courage to do this adventure. You surely had your ups and downs.thanks for the adventure and CONGRADGULATIONS on an EPIC FINISH..
Cheers Mike! Thanks for the nice comment mate
What a huge accomplishment🎉
I really appreciated the honesty you shared during low points like losing your sunglasses or the punishing wind. The emotions get very real when you push yourself like that. You've definitely inspired this oldie to try it some day. Thank you!
Thanks a ton! I hope you get yourself out there!
Jack - First off congratulations!! Wow, what a journey. You did an amazing job documenting your journey and staying true in giving us updates each day. Thanks! Many stories within the story. Wow, how did you ever get your bike finally in Banf? I can't imagine the feeling as you left San Fran, wondering if you would have the bike in time. Well done, well done from Boulder Colorado. I am amazed you were able to calm the achillies down so early in the event. That must have been a big blow. Keep adventuring and maybe we'll see you out there someday.
Thanks for the kind words mate.. The stress of not having my bike arrive definitely took it's toll on me physically haha Air Canada stepped in and helped me out majorly! I'll be spending a bit of time in Boulder next year hopefully!
Wonderful, the journey the film, thanks for taking us along. Bravo! 🙏🏼👊🏻
It's funny, I just watched Lachlan Morton's Tour divide documentary and came back here to say this one way more accurately captures what my 2023 tour divide experience was like. I like it a lot more than the highly produced film.
G'day! Thanks for the kind words, I also just had a watch of Lachlan's... absolute demon! Glad you enjoyed my film!
Loved the film. Great documentary of highs and lows of the divide. A great inspiration. Chapeau.
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it
Bro, absolute pleasure to witness you battling through the elements, psychological barriers etc. What an accomplishment, appreciate you documenting it, a lot to take from this video, both for cycling and just general human capabilities.. Right on 🤙
Lovely. What a ride. I loved those dirt roads. Wish i was there with you. I was in spirit.
Its bloody beautiful out there! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for coming along!
You are so strong, brother ! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Peace
Thanks a ton! I'm glad you enjoyed it
That was absolutely incredible. The commitment to set the camera on the ground during a hike a bike, then go back and get it...unreal. The commitment to see it through, respect my friend!
Thanks mate! It definitely adds a whole other element to the ride, and it gets harder the more tired you get haha thanks for the props mate!
Well done. Well done. Well done.
So flippin cool! Thoroughly entertaining. I bet that is a pretty amazing feeling having finished that sucker.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a pretty unreal feeling
Thanks for sharing your journey of thr Divide! I am amazed with the quality of the film. To do something so hard and then to film it all is really something. Thank you!
Thanks for the compliment! It's definitely a balancing act when trying to ride and make a film at the same time!

Thanks!
Excellent documentary of your journey! One of the best I’ve seen!
Congratulations on finishing. Beautiful film. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks mate!
What a beautiful experience! Thanks for sharing the highs AND the lows. As we both have learned, it's the lows and how we manage them that give us our true sense of identity and confidence.
Glad you enjoyed! The lows are almost as good as the highs aren't they, otherwise it's not much of an adventure!
@@JackScottkeogh so are you ever doing this again??

Jack!!!! Outstanding on so many levels. I'm sure you have sown seeds of adventure in many camps...... bloody good man :)
Thanks mate! I'd like to hope so, that's what it's all about!
What a challenge dusted! There's nothing like suffering to let us know we're alive - and to help us appreciate when we're not suffering! Getting ready for a self-supported tour of my own making. (My diary won't be half as nice as yours but you gave me something to strive toward!)
Thanks for the kind words! Sounds epic! Where are you off to?
Well done, well documented. Just amazed the bike was almost lost forever, before it all began. Hell of a ride.

@@JackScottkeogh how many folks on TD had drop bars? Amazing film, thanks for sharing!
@@bryanwhite3987 ahhh hard to say mate! I’d say maybe 60% drops? But I also could be way off. Check the rigs of the tour divide page on bikepacking.com and it’s got a pretty good rundown of both, I think they also have a YT vid going through all the bike stats overall
👏 What a ride! This video captures the essence of cycling perfectly. Proud to add it to our collection and share the love. Keep it up! 🚴♀
Thanks a ton!
What a beautiful and inspiring video diary of a truly epic journey. Kudos on the Tour and the video.
Thanks mate! I appreciate the kind words
Awesome job Jack! I had Achilles issues out of Columbia Falls and grovelled to Helena where I got it sorted, so I know exactly how you felt. The scenery and your highs and lows took me back. The highs are SO high and the lows….well they were tough. Thanks for filming your ride as that would be a huge time suck. You were very disciplined in getting it done! Again, well done. Dave - TDR 2015.
Mate that was my exactly timeline also, achilles out of Columbia Falls and rested in Helena. Thanks for watching mate, glad it took you back to such a memorable time!
Raced the North Cape 4000 this year, and your video just brought up so many of the emotions I experienced. I was there with you all the way! Well done, and just beautifully shot and edited! Thanks, Jack! 👏🏻

Enjoyed it mate. Helluv an experience in tough conditions. As a video creator myself I think I'm most impressed that you persisted on through those hardest days and continued to put the effort in to film. Even on a day video I find the quality of shots and content diminishes the more tired I am and the later in the day it gets. Great film dude!
