    Excellent advice to go light as possible on the Divide. Adding that if you're an older cyclist touring the Divide, not racing, think about adding a rear rack with small panniers. Touring the route you'll cover 40-50 miles most days, often less in rough or steep sections. You might need to carry more food and water, and just frame bags can be difficult to fit that needed extra for some sections. I prefer extra water in panniers, or top of a rack instead of on my back.

      Cheers mate! I have links to my cameras/drones in the video description but I shoot on a Sony 6300, Dji Pocket 2 and Dji Mini 3 Pro. I think if i were to do it again i'd probably just try pack even lighter and run a hydration backpack from the start so it was easier to drink on the move

      You're already using a crazy light tent and sleep pad, where would you hope to save weight? Less clothing perhaps? Did you use the aerobars much? Interesting idea with the fleece and no down jacket. I only use my down jacket for sleeping as it's too hot, even in sub-zero, so I've been looking at maybe Albion synth jacket instead.

    Nice Video Jack!! _ Hey how does the Zpacks Tent stack up in foul / bad weather? Only 1 pole makes me a bit nervous around stability.....did you have hard rain and wild winds during the Tour...would you recommend the Zpacks in these conditions? - Cheers :)

    • @JackScottkeogh
      @JackScottkeogh  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks mate! I think it goes pretty decent, I used a Zpacks Duplex for my entire PCT hike and it held up fine as well, there is plenty of guylines to hold it nice and tight so I never really noticed a whole lot of pressure on the pole. It can be a little noisy if its raining heavy but for the huge weight saving it's definitely worth it for me. After using the Duplex on my Thru Hike I could never go back to a normal tent. My tent setup on the divide is under 500g which is pretty hard to beat really. I'm not sure if you've watched my Tour Divide film but I had some pretty wild weather

      @@stephenhammond3656 I used a Tarptent Contrail (1st rev.of Protrail) down to Steamboat Springs. There is a trick to setting up the Protrail quickly and with a very tight pitch. Mine was wind and rain proof on the Divide and on many backpacking trips. Front entry tents can be tricky, but once I lived with it for a few weeks now I prefer them.
