This version, this song, with these men playing along with Neil Young's guitar is phenominal to me. Puts me in a different state of mind after I listen to it everytime. It has deep spiritual meaning to me.
AWESOME!!! I first heard this song when I was 11 years old, to this day I think this is one of the most "twisted" songs I have ever heard, a masterpiece for sure..........
I saw Neil live at Madison Square Garden in 1973. He's just as good if not better now. Two legends on stage, Neil and Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass. What a great performance !!!
this song, the Decade record version, his playing at least 3? track guitar parts is such a monster crank it up rock anthem but the "...i shot my baby, shot her dead..." lyrics are just i don't get why u wanna sing about all that murdery stuff, & the chorus is weak, oh well, i change the lyrics to "down by my liver, i caught some scabies..." & "u beat my wife, & i'll beat ur wife, etc." just to take it over the top, chicks dig it...
No one ever seems to talk about Neil's guitar ability, I'm a fan.damn guy is great, slow but aggressive, sloppy but skillful, angry but peaceful. His guitar work is very unmistakable.
The man is a true Rock N Roll treasure. What an Artist. I cant imagine living in a world without George Harrison, Jimmy Page, and Mr. Young here. That would be cruel.
I seen CSNY in 2001. They played pretty much this version, almost a half-hour long. It solidified Neil Young in my pantheon of great guitar players, and song writers.
@@kballs94 But WHO IS creating or playing music in the real sense of the word? Most people are just trying. They do not tap into a higher energy level and that is the point that is being made here: Neil Young is definitely a creator and player of real music.
@@yousuckdicks1 it is fun when your jamming it and can mess around with your own licks and rock out but i think here he was holding back to make it sound like the original/or not step on the guitar playing but doing that for 30 mins gets boring AF
@VenezuelaBallerV69 oh i agree with you, i was just sayin he must be bored playing this song for so long. i'm a bass player myself and i know i'd be bored. i'm not saying he's not good or anything negative about it. i meant it gets boring AF for the bass player. yea if it deviates from the original it would change up the song too much.

This song is perfectly built. It just sounds like a mixture of rage and regret.

I've been hearing this since I was a kid. And it still blows me away. EVERY. TIME.
Same here, a classic for sure.
I have been crying every time I hear it since 1977. And I listen to it a LOT.
for me, this song is like stairway to heaven, a hym to rock. I dont understand why is not popular
i actually think its because neil doesnt have sex appeal, all the super popular songs were by bands that had at least 1 very good looking member.
Popular like ABBA? Who cares. My coolest friends love this, and Neil has all the money he needs. Win win

Anyone does when creating or playing music usually
